What up People,
Ive been playing and loving Pokemon for years. Truly one of the best games of all time in my books!
I gotta say though i am struggling to understand how to get some of my old squads transfered from Fire Red over to Platinum.

I have read that if the old boys have HM's they cant be transfered across but its still not happening.
So my questions, if anyone could help me out a bit, are:

1) Do you have to have beat the elite 4 on Fire Red and Platinum in order to be able to transfer your daily six once you get to Pal Park?
2) Is it actually possible to trade with another player via wireless connection from Leaf Green & Fire Red to Platinum? ( i know that you cant return any traded Poke's back to a previous gen cart once they've hit Diamond, pearl or Platinum)
3) Finally the the term "Migrating" Just means that the type of Pokemon on the cart in the GBA slot become available to catch in the wild at varying points. Is this correct.

Thanks to anyone who's decideds to shed some light for me.

Yes for D/P/Pt, no for the Advance games. Although, to be specific, you must obtain the National Pokedex in the DS games - which is only possible after beating the Elite 4 and seeing every Sinnoh Dex Pokemon.

The Advance games cannot trade with the D/P/Pt games. Migrating is the only way to transfer Pokemon.

No. Migrating is the transferring of selected Pokemon from your GBA cart to your DS games - that you must then 'recapture' in Pal Park. It has no impact on whether those Pokemon then become available as wild Pokemon - although most non Sinnoh-Dex Pokemon are available in the wild through the use of the PokeRadar. (Which can combine with the so called 'dual-slot' mode/dongle method - which basically refers to Pokemon that become avaiable in the wild in the DS games only if a certain GBA Pokemon game is in the second DS slot).

Cheers Doctor Oak,

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

So the Pal Park is the only way i can get all my old favourites back in my squad huh?
When you re-capture them do they still retain the names and moves i gave them? Thats the thing im most worried about as ive grown quite attached to about twenty or so of 'em.

Just out of interest ive never managed to get hold of Deoxys & Mew. Do ya know of any way possible for me other than using the devils Action Replay?

Thanks again dude,

Aside from HM moves, everything remains in-tact.

You can get Mew by dumping an inordinate amount of Pokemon into My Pokemon Ranch - but you're out of luck for the moment as far as Deoxys goes. Who knows though, maybe the Sevii Islands will be included in HG/SS (including Birth Island) and they will have a WiFi event to get Deoxys there. One can hope.

Well, you don't need to beat the Elite Four first, but if you aren't going to evolve some rare Pokemon yourself, or trade them in from other DS games, then you'll need to see them in the Elite Four.

I got my National Dex almost immediately after the final gym.

EDIT: Wait... In Diamond and Pearl, you can only see the opposite of your mascot after the Elite Four, right?

By that, do you mean Palkia in Diamond and Dialga in Pearl? No, they are actually easy to get, and about mid-way through the story.

Just fly (or walk... you know what, **** it, just fly) to Celestic Town, and talk to an old lady in the Northeast. She will show you a photo of the opposite mascot, and it will count as 'seen' in your Pokedex.

Below, I'm temporarily using this since I have no clue on how to do signatures.
