New key visual and details released for “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu”

A new poster has been released for the upcoming stop-motion animation project “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu”, created as a collaboration between Pokémon and British studio Aardman Animation. New details about the project have been revealed as part of Aardman’s “Lights, Camera, Aardman!” panel at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The attending audience were treated to never-before-seen footage from the pilot and in-development production materials, offering them an early look at Sirfetch'd and Pichu in action.

“Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu” is an epic journey through the wilds of Galar. Our heroes embark on a gallant quest to help and protect Pokémon across the region. Their missions rarely go as planned, but their noble deeds forge their friendship as they step bravely into the unknown. Peril, alliances and rivalries, extraordinary Pokémon, and endless laughs await them.

It was also revealed that the brand-new adventure will take place in the Galar region, which is based upon the United Kingdom — a fitting backdrop for a collaboration with one of Britain’s most celebrated animation studios. The series will feature Aardman's distinctly British sense of humor, which is long associated with many of their best-loved productions such as Chicken Run, Shaun the Sheep, and Wallace & Gromit.

The collaboration was first announced on December 11, 2024. In the July 22, 2025 Pokémon Presents, the project's title was revealed alongside a sneak peek teaser trailer.

Fingers crossed a) the series' total length is at least comparable to a movie and b) has wide distribution, no BBC Player exclusive or something like that.

 

Ever since learning about this collaboration, I appreciated hearing there would be more Brits involved in official Pokémon media, even if I’m American (I will forever cling onto the belief that Great Britain should’ve been given the English dub rights to Twilight Wings). And I’m happy we got more info on this unique animated spinoff that takes place in Galar, which initially didn’t get enough rep in the mainline anime.

 

I did not see an Aardman/Pokémon collab coming in my lifetime, but I'm certainly not complaining.
In fact, I think it's really cool and awesome.
