Since one of the members of the now defunct bulbagarden league was upset that we posted on their thread we will respect their wishes and create a separate thread for our league. Now I say our league because so far we are the only ones who are willing to try and start a new league but anyone who wants to join can. Anyone who has an opinion on how it should run is encouraged to give it. So far we have decided to have a tournament to decide GYM leaders the tournament will have the following rules

im trying to show all the rules this time. the rules are subject to change. post if you disagree and ill edit the post.

rules so far:

1. gym leaders are initially found by a ladder tournament whose rules are as follows:
a. 16 people
b. lvl100
c. single battle
d. no ubers

2. the top 8 from the tournement become gym leaders
a. first place gets first pick on type, second gets second pick...
b. a gym leader is allowed to give their gym leader status to another trainer, as long as the trainer has 5 or more gym badges.
c. a gym leader can only turn down trainers for a very good reason.
example: the trainer is a known hacker you may decline the challenge.

3. after initial tournament you may challenge a gym to become the leader, by beating someone in their own type. as long as the trainer has 5 or more gym badges
a. you may challenge a gym with your normal team to gain the badge.
b. to challenge a gym leader PM your freind code to them.

4. gym leader's pokemon are allowed to deviate from their gym's type if they have attacks that comply with the gym's type. Gym leaders can have 3 alternate pokemon
example: flint has a steelix with fire fang and sunny day


5. a new tournement will be hosted 2-3 times a year.

Like I said we are still in the planning stage and these rules are not set in stone so feel free to suggest new rules. Now if this should become HoS material so be it but at least I can say we tried.

we mean no disrespect to pie in trying to start our own league though, we can hopefully collaborate.

On the contrary we would welcome any advice the members of the other league can offer.

Pie's league sounded interesting to me, but if it's not going to come together, then I would be just as interested in this one. May I put my name in as a Water-type trainer if the Gyms will be type-based? If there are a lot of Water applications, though, then my second choice is Ghost.

How many other people are interested in raising Water-types? I've made the most progress with them, so I would almost have to raise an entirely new team if I used Ghost-types.

I don't think any legends should be allowed. It just doesn't seem right.
 
Rule 1: All well and good with me.
Rule 2: Likewise.
Rule 3: Is this to take over the position or to earn a badge? In the case of the latter, a Gym Leader should prepare him or herself to face the weaknesses of his or her chosen type.

As for repeating the tournament, I'm a bit unsure. I can see that other people would want to become Gym Leaders, but I wouldn't be willing to participate in such a large tournament every two months. Every three months, possibly.

Question: May a Gym Leader raise Pokémon outside of his or her type as long as said Pokémon would use the appropriate moves? For example, I remember Flint using a Steelix that knew Fire Fang and Sunny Day.
 
I agree everyother month seems a bit much. I think 3 or 2 times a year would be better

I don't see why not since the gym leader gets to choose his gym type and his teams as long as they don't have more than one because why have a rock gym and use other types?

Indeed. I wouldn't ask for a Water Gym and then use a team of Fire and Ground-types to counter the obvious weaknesses, of course. I just have one Pokémon in mind now that will use two Water-type moves, but it's not a Water-type itself.
 
true, but dual types make slightly better. also we could let the gym leaders use ubers.

then again if it knows moves that compliment the type of gym i dont see why not. also i agree with venom, on hindsight every 2 months is too much. 2 a year sounds good.

should i put thes things in the rules?

example: flint's steelix knows both fire fang and sunny day.​
5. a new tournement will be hosted 2-3 times a year.
