Source w/ new Next Avengers trailer.

Over the past few years Marvel and Lionsgate have brought some of Marvel's biggest heroes to the small screen in a series of Direct-to-DVD animated films.

The journey began with "ULTIMATE AVENGERS: THE MOVIE" and continued with "ULTIMATE AVENGERS II: RISE OF THE BLACK PANTHER," "INVINCIBLE IRON MAN" and "DOCTOR STRANGE: SORCERER SUPREME." All of these films were created with the core fan base firmly in mind.

Now Marvel and Lionsgate are exploring new territory by creating a film for both the long time fans and new fans alike in…

"NEXT AVENGERS: HEROES OF TOMORROW."

Here is a brief summary of the coming film:

Whenever the forces of evil threatened mankind, Earth's mightiest heroes, the Avengers, were there to stop them — until they made the ultimate sacrifice in their final fight with the indestructible robot, Ultron.

But all was not lost, for Tony Stark (Iron Man) kept the children of the Avengers safe and raised them to become the teenage heroes of tomorrow.

Now James (son of Captain America and Black Widow), Torunn (daughter of Thor), Azari (son of the Black Panther), and Pym (son of Wasp and Giant Man) must finish the fight their parents started. Soon the arrow-slinging son of Hawkeye will join their ranks, but it will take more than five teens to destroy the machine that defeated their parents.

If these young heroes have any hope of winning, they must find the missing Hulk and Iron Man leads the Next Avengers come together as…the Next Avengers!

For long time fans there are many familiar faces and relationships that give weight and meaning to a story that has never been told in the comics, and for young fans this is a place where they can learn of the heroes their parents loved while meeting new heroes they can call their own.

Marvel and Lionsgate are proud to give the fans of the 2008 San Diego Comic Con a first look screening of this incredible new adventure on Friday July 25, at 8:30PM in Room 6A. Seating is extremely limited so bring your friends, family members, and get there early!

The screening will be followed by a panel that will include the film's Supervising Producer Craig Kyle, Producer/Supervising Director Gary Hartle, Writer Christopher Yost and some of the voice talent from the film. This will be your only chance to see the film before its September 2, 2008 Blu-Ray and DVD release.

Also, as an added bonus fans who stay to the end of the event will get to see a sneak peek of "HULK VS THOR," which is Marvel and Lionsgate's next hardcore fan focused feature being released in January 2009.

Come back to Marvel.com next Monday to see the world premier trailer of "HULK VS WOLVERINE" and find out how you can see it before anyone else!

To sum that up, trailer for Hulk vs Wolverine coming on Monday (must...not...make...Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk joke...). And Hulk vs Thor will be coming in January (I wonder if this is the start of a Hulk vs trilogy?).

Also appears as if Giant-Man and Wasp failed to give their child a name. Same with Hawkeye (who, apparently, along with Thor and Black Panther are capable of reproducing asexually).

The Hulk vs Movies sound really, really lame.

They have the potential, certainly. It really depends on what, exactly, they are and how they're marketed.

Didn't Black Panther end up with Storm in the Ultimate Avengers animated movie about their kids, or did I misread the trailer?

I'm sure that's what they meant for people to assume. It's just that they decided not to mention her (she's an Avenger in the Marvel Adventures books, so it's not like the prime viewers of this wouldn't know who she was).

How is it that you can have a Hulk vs Wolverine anyways? Whouldn't that be like boxing a Wobbuffet? (Are they intending that Wolvy will just keep getting up to be smacked back down?)

These animated movies seem alright, but personally I'd prefer a television program. (even if it has to be edited to Y7, there just seems to be more potential for plot)

Well, the whole idea behind those two fighting is: a) Wolverine's first appearance was in Incredible Hulk (where he fought Hulk) and b) there's such a huge size disparity between them...but neither one can easily die, making a it, really, the ultimate draw. There's an entire mini-series dedicated to them battling in the Ultimate universe (it's four issues I believe, and almost a year late with the last one or two).

That's why Iron Man, Wolverine and the X-Men, and Incredible Hulk are being developed (along with, of course, Spectacular Spider-Man). Marvel's trying to get people from every angle (live-action theatrical movies, straight-to-DVD animated movies, and cartoons).

Didn't Ultimate Hulk rip Wolverine in half and throw the bits away? I mean, he gets better, but I'd say that's a pretty clear indication of the winner.

Yeah, I remember seeing that in one the previews. But, keep in mind, the only thing that was ever capable of killing the Maestro (yet ANOTHER alternate Hulk) was a gamma bomb straight to the face (and he was shown to have killed his world's Wolverine, Thor, Magneto, etc.). And I'm not entirely certain he DIDN'T survive that.

I could swear in the first trailer that his icon was shown connecting with a lightning bolt and having some description of him getting together with a "princess of the weather" or some such thing.

You're probably right. I mostly block out these trailers from my mind after viewing (old man Hulk is a mentally scarring thing).

Found it, and the scene in question was a panther paw icon getting together with a lightning bolt icon, with the voice-over "The king found his queen".

Also, as a god, shouldn't Thor be able to reproduce asexually?

Well, if you go by the mainstream continuity, most of the pantheons are merely extradimensional beings with mostly traditional breeding habits and unclarified extents to their powers. Certain ones seem capable of giving life to inanimate beings/objects, but none that I can recall (and it could just be that I'm forgetting someone/thing) have reproduced asexually (doesn't mean they CAN'T, but...why do it if you don't have to?). Likely this daughter's mother is the same as whoever fathered MC2's Thena.
