question 1:
how many pokemon did may catch, Befriended, or Temporary uesd?
will may return for a few episodes with new pokemon she catch?
Yes, but it was a filler episode, so it wasn't a major thing. (Just so you know, she used Hitmonlee)

It was still a temporary pokémon, however, which is what the original poster asked for.
I doubt about that. Unlike Misty, who even already were mentioned in DP, the writers try really hard we forget about May. It is really shame though. May were much bigger (and more interesting IMO) character then Misty, but now, unlike Misty, May is treated like she never existsquestion 2:

And this is the main problem I still have with this switch. Instead of using character they developed for 4 years, they made a whole new character to do what? EXACTLY the same. Some of you may remember how I ranted about Dawn when DP started. Now, I must admit I like her, but still don't undersand the logic behind this. And I swear if they will do the same thing with Dawn and switch her with yet another female coordinator, I'll definitely stop watching Pokémon anime. The reason they don't mention her is simply because they had to make sure people moved on to Dawn. May was arguably at the peak of her popularity in Battle Frontier, there was tons of excitement in the fandom as we went through that arc regarding the character. However the writers needed to make sure Dawn was a success, or else she would backfire. Hence why Dawn got an ending theme right off the bat and so much early promotion.
When you replace a girly girl coordinator with another girly girl coordinator who is going to do exactly the same thing we watched May do for 4 years, obviously they want people to move on to the new girl instead of thinking the old one.
