Heya everyone.

Long story short; I'm a long time fan of the Pokemon games, and I'm quite good with Wiki coding as well. I've noticed a good amount of info on the wiki (such as extra move effects and whatnot) has yet to be added, and I was hoping I could be of some assistance there. I'm used to the rules and policies from a different Wiki though (GuildWiki, to be exact). I don't want to just jump in and start editing without knowing what I'm doing here... I'm going to read the rule and policies in a moment, but I'm still curious, how do you guys handle edits and whatnot around here? Discuss on the talk page before adding, or simply revert info you're not sure about yet, etc... one thing I know is, the main cause of a lot of Wiki "vandals" and other nasty things is normally, they're used to other wikis and they expect the one they're on to work the same. I just figured I'd bother to ask before I go making a fool of myself. :D

Looking foward to contributing!

This is the definition of spam according to the English Encarta Dictionary:

To post a message many times to a newsgroup, an inappropriate message to multiple newsgroups, or to send an unsolicited message, often an advertisement, to many people.

Technically, you advertised your website by posting that link.

Anyway, to get back on topic...

Pretty much, what you should do is look around at the other articles, mostly the more complete ones, and try to emulate them. For example, for the routes, they'll be like how Route 1's article is. Cities, they're like Viridian's article.

And when there's a project dealing with the specific type of page, look to the project page.

...that's... pretty much how it works. Don't know what more to tell you.

And yes, Bulbasaur Rocks, that is spam. Totally off the topic at hand, not related one bit. So... don't do it. It's bad form.

Keep with the existing style and formatting, yeah, I've got all that down. :D

I was more worried about smaller details... for example, article talk pages, should comments be restricted to just the article itself? Userspace, what's norm for a user's profile or whatnot? I know on Wikipedia, they don't like any discussion whatsoever on a talk page other then info directly affecting the article, but on GuildWiki, the talk page is often used for research notes, or just questions about the article, and in rare cases, just friendly chat about the article's subject. :p

Eh... like I said, look at existing ones. That should give you a pretty good idea...

Though what you say about Guild Wiki is pretty true here, too... Though much of the character discussion sticks to these forums.

Believe me, you'll fit right in.
