New merch designed by POKÉDANCE animator coming to Pokémon Centers in Japan

The Pokémon Company has announced their newest collection of merchandise coming to Japan, which was illustrated by USGMEN, the same artist who designed and animated the Hoenn segment of the recently popular POKÉDANCE. The collection has an “escape” theme, featuring Pokémon making an escape or using a move that prevents escape in battle. The new merch will arrive at Pokémon Centers in Japan beginning October 4th, and to the Pokémon Center Online on October 2nd.

The collection starts with several plush items, such as the plush retractable keychains with either Snorlax and Pikachu, Wobbuffet and Rowlet, or Abra and a Poké Ball, each for ¥2,420 ($16.17 USD). Snorlax’s keychain is inspired by it famously blocking paths, Wobbuffet’s by its Ability Shadow Tag, and Abra’s by the move Teleport. Other plush items include a pullback Eevee for ¥2,200 ($14.70 USD), a plush Bewear backpack hugging Ditto for ¥3,300 ($22.05 USD), and a plush Gengar phone stand for ¥2,970 ($19.84 USD). There’s also apparel for this collection, including an adult t-shirt featuring all of USGMEN’s "escape" art for ¥3,300 ($22.05 USD), a reversible jacket for ¥7,150 ($47.77 USD), and a reversible bucket hat for ¥3,520 ($23.52 USD).

Accessories for this collection begin with a shoulder bag featuring fleeing Pikachu as the zipper pulls for ¥3,850 ($25.72 USD). A clear pouch with Torchic escaping Azumarill will retail for ¥2,200 ($14.70 USD), and two different hand towel designs will be ¥660 ($4.41 USD) each. Two smartphone lanyards will retail for ¥2,200 ($14.70 USD) each, three different smartphone grips will be ¥1,760 ($11.76 USD) each, and three different acrylic keychains will be ¥770 ($5.14 USD) each.

The “escape” collection finishes out with some stationery, like two different sets of two washi tape rolls that will retail for ¥770 ($5.14 USD) each, or a set of two file folders for ¥550 ($3.67 USD). Two different sticker sheets, one for Pikachu and friends and one for Eevee and friends, will be ¥660 ($4.41 USD) each, and layered sticky notes will also retail for ¥660 ($4.41 USD). Blind bags of decorative tins featuring USGMEN’s art will be available for ¥385 ($2.57 USD) each.

The plush pullback Eevee from this collection will be available in limited quantities via Amazon Japan on October 11th, with preorders opening on October 4th.
