Update (2:30 PM) - The CoroCoro page also mentions that a new method of evolution may be involved for evolving Zorua into Zoroark. The page asks, "Could we see a new method of evolution!?" Thanks goes to DorianBlack for catching this overlooked detail. What could it mean?

What do you think this new method of evolution could be? We already have so many different methods; it's hard to imagine what else they could possibly use. And do you think there will be more than one new method of evolution? Also, do you think they'll use these possible new methods to give new evolutions to old Pokemon?

We have level up, happiness, hold item, trade, stone, hold item with trade, location, knowing a move, and time.

Seasonal? Weather evolutions? Evolving by defeating a certain Pokemon?

Not sure I would like the method, but someone suggested having the Pokemon "hate" you for evolving. I mean we have happiness evolutions, why not abused evolutions? Perfect for evil people.

Other than that maybe they actually would implement some sort of hunger/stamina bar.

In fact for the happiness rating, I would actually love it if they were on the main Pokemon's stats and stuff, instead of having it as some secondary source like Poketch or some random NPC.

I also saw someone else mention dislike evolution. It could work for Zorua > Zoroark, though it seems a bit iffy with as little as we know about it. But I do like the idea.

I think that dislike evolution goes against the friends to pokemon angle that GF takes with these games.

Wouldn't that be... hard to accomplish? Most happiness is garnered via battling (slow, but steady). So each time you'd get stronger, the potential for evolution goes down, and you'd have to artificially grind your happiness back down. Not so bad, I guess. That'd give us an excuse to finally use those medicinal herbs and roots.

I'd agree with you completely, Ryuu, except that we already have Frustration. It's not as widely-used as Return, but it's just as powerful if you put in the dislike effort. It's still unlikely as an evolution method, but there's at least a precedent.

I'd agree with you as well, but Return and Frustration were created in the generation that introduced happiness. I always thought GF wanted to cover both bases when it came to happiness related moves.

Since then, Your pokemon disliking you is frowned upon, as you get rewards for your pokemon liking you.

Hmm...I would really like it if they added more pokemon for certian stones.See,I love and dig the Sinnoh Undergroung(seewhatIdidthar?)but when I check my bag, there are like 12 completly useless thunderstones. Its bothering.

Hmm...maybe for talking/battleling someone? Say,you have a chimchar and want it to evolve into monferno,so you go and battle your rival and it evolves?Or if Suicune wasnt a legend and it had an Evolution, you talk to Eusine and dan-dan-DAn-Dan-dandan-daaraan-dandandandnadadaDARARA-RARARA-RAAAA

I may sound like an old geezer but i miss the old days when evolution was so easy and simple. I guess i'm just bitter for half the evolutions i couldn't accomplish in the fourth gen. Anyway, instead of adding more evolution methods they should just work with the ones they already have made up although i wouldn't mind a frustration evolution-induced method.

Screw new methods. I just want a third damn Pokemon that can use the freaking Thunderstone.

In general, old stones could all use new Pokemon to go with them.

This. Pretty much this.

Except not just with stones but for hold items and other things that trigger evolution.

Actually, it would be great if there was a minimum of 10 or so Pokémon families that need a single special method of evolving. It would really drive their value up quite a bit.

What about more evolutions that require other pokemon? (i.e. Mantyke requiring a Remoraid to evolve) I think they should do this with Slowpoke, so you'd need a Shellder to evolve it.

I believe you forgot about evolving cause by having a certain pokemon in your party, ala mantyke with remoraid.

They don't change the way a Pokémon evolves once it's already appeared in the game due to some kind of grandfather clause that Gamefreak goes by.

Once an aspect of a Pokémon is released to the public, they don't change it. Hence why Slowpoke will always evolve by level rather then by what Pokémon is in the party.

The best way to do it is to add it for a new Pokémon.

Yeah, the Hate Evolution sounds nice, but the game basically makes it impossible for you to make your Pokemon frustrated unless you try hard.

Plus, when you walk around with the Pokemon in your party, it gains Happiness. The best way to lower happiness irc is to leave it fainted or in a box, which would prevent it from evolving. Seems like it'd be quite hard to get it to hate you and have it in your party to evolve.

We still have those Herbal medicines. Pokemon dislike them, and it drops their happiness. And then we could have new items to help. Like an anti-Soothe Bell. Maybe a Buzzer that the Pokemon holds, and it drops their happiness just a bit. Or maybe a sign that says "I'm Dumb".

I'm sorry but forcefully making your pokemon hate you would cause so much controversy and hurt sales. Parents would disprove and it goes against the power of friendship vibe Pokemon has had for a long time.
