I just saw on X-Play that Nintendo is currently working on a new hardware console. I don't know much else about it, but if anyone does, please share it with us!

Nintendo plans to release a version of the console with DVD-Video playback capabilities. This new model will use the CinePlayer CE DVD Navigator software engine by Sonic Solutions. Although software will be used to enable DVD-Video functionality, Nintendo has stated that it "requires more than a firmware upgrade" to implement and that the functionality would be unavailable as an upgrade option for the existing Wii model. After announcing the DVD version for 2007, Nintendo delayed its release to focus on producing the original console to meet demand
Ben Cousins said:Nintendo are going to release a revised DS design which has no GBA port, it will be as thin as some of the Apple laptops. ;-)
I have a DVD player right beside my Wii console
Last I heard, that was just a rumor.
of course nintendo is working ona new console. all 3 companies are more then likely working on a new console. but id say give it 7-10 yrs before we see a new one. i can see a new hand held device in the comeing yrs before a console though. its rumored that microsoft wants to get in on the hand held market seeing as how nintendo for 20+ yrs now has dominated it especialy with the DS now and how it works with the Wii
Probably, bearing in mind in 3-4 years Blu-Ray will more than likely become the standard. And this is becoming more evident as HD seems to be picking up significantly each year.Argy said:I do wonder if a Blu-ray option will ever be added.
^Considering this generation was a huge leap from last-generation, the gap between console's being released has probably widened, meaning 6-7 years is a pretty good estimate, I'd say, well maybe 4 or 5.
(many people bought it solely for the dvd player)
A huge leap?
Not really that huge. 3D was a huge leap, but it came 5 years after the previous generation and 5 years before the next. Seriously, look for Generation 8 (for consoles) to hit the floor running circa 2010.
