New PBR Video

Those are things that should have been implemented ages ago, though I'm glad they are finally opening up to the traditional game mechanics now. I like how Genius Sorority is trying to make gameplay more fluid, like a Pokemon game should be, however I'd still like to see pokemon on pokemon action (no not that kind, get your mind out of the gutter) where the camera doesn't have to pan to just the pokemon being attacked. It's hard to tell what the programmers at GS intentions are at this point since we've seen a mix of techniques.

Everytime it loads the video for me it either stops loading after the first message, or it plays some PSP advert in full instead.

Also has anyone here noticed the February 2007 release date they have on that page? That site is very strange as it has D/P down for June 7th 2007 0_0.

Lookin' good...I can't wait to play this game alongside DP! I like seeing the trainers' greater involvement in battle. I second Rayne's opinion, though. Also, I'd like to see GS pick up the pace of Pokemon battles. The only reason it takes like 45 minutes just to get through one Area of Mt. Battle is not because one is a slow player, but because the battles and their special effects play out so sloooooowly. The extra camera angles, like on the Solarbeam in this vid, while they build excitement, are really just superfluous fluff--personally I'd rather play my $50 game than watch it. (Actually, the 2D games have this same problem, so really this is a request of Pokemon games in general.) I mean really, if Pokemon are going to take this long to attack while my Speed-trained monster just stands there waiting to take a hit looking like an utterly unskilled fighter, I'd like the option to yell "Dodge!" and have my Pokemon evade the attack if it's faster...or something. I'm not advocating changing the turn-based combat system to a real-time system though, I'm just for changing the cinematics of battle.

Yeah, and it's for that reason I turn off the animation during battles when I'm level grinding. Every now and then I don't mind animation getting into the woodwork of things.

Actually, a real time strategy is what I'd always hoped for a 3D Pokemon game to be, though I can live with whatever else Nintendo decides to make. Doing animation and rendering for a 3D world, trainers/people and 500+ pokemon is a pretty overwhelming task thus why I don't expect anything like it. Though, that would be the ultimate feat if the programmers could demonstrate some kind of real-time battle environment in the game. Realtime seems to be the in thing for some RPG's now-a-days anyways. Kingdom Hearts and FFXII pull it off really well.

If there is going to be another 3D RPG like ColXD, I would very much like the option to turn the bloody animation off. It's good sometimes, but not when you're griding or trying to get through long challenges.

I don't mind the animation, at least not in XD, thanks to it allowing you to save anywhere (as opposed to Colosseum's rigid PC Save system)

Lucario looks AMAZING in that video, Cherimu is adorable, the trainer giving the command is a nice touch, and I also like the Poké Ball's appearance.

This is gonna be one great game.

From listening to that video closely, it looks like the announcer is making a return. The one they've got for the Japanese version sounds very similar to what I'd expect from a sports broadcaster in Japan. Here's hoping the one we get for an English version is as high a quality.

Yep, we learned that much with these videos. I'd nearly forgotten about the announcer from Stadium days; it'll be fun to have him back...as long as you have the option turn him off like you could in Stadium. ^_^

I second the option to turn off battle animations in the 3D games like you can in the handhelds, if not speeding up the battle flow.

Hey...the quality of the Pokemon models in that video gives me hope after seeing the Return of the Blockiness in the videos of the starters and Diaruga/Parukia.

That was really cool. I think the monster animations are top notch. Personally, though, I wish there were 3 announcers and voices for the trainers to give viraity (where if you don't have an announcer the trainers yell calls). Maybe in a sequel..

Even if they didn't give the trainers voices for all the moves, they could still give them generic voice clips: (IE - "I choose you!" "Attack!" "Look out!" "Oh no!" "Return!") that sort of thing.

In my perfect little world, the English PBR has John Madden, Gottfried, and the guy who says "Let's Get Ready To Rumble!" as selectable announcers

No, because before the battle's there'll be those little charts he makes on everything: "Okay, pikachu's going to use volt tackle over here on psyduck whose going to try to guard this weak point over here to keep this zone open"
"That's his weak spot, pikachu's gonna go at it for massive damage)

I am glad to see the announcer is returning, 3D battling has felt less exciting without the chatter of an announcer. I noticed the "Victory Theme" from the Colloseum games is still there.

Yeah, but see the most recent episodes. Cartman will probably never actually get to play the Wii let along take part in a game. :p
