Pokémon Center Yokohama Satellite
The Pokémon Company has announced a new kind of Pokémon Center location, scheduled to open on April 9th in Yokohama. The new location is dubbed Pokémon Center Yokohama Satellite, and functions as a smaller branch to Yokohama’s regular Pokémon Center, which is located just a six minute walk away. This new satellite location will be in the Joinus shopping center, just outside the west exit of the Yokohama train station.

Pokémon Center Yokohama Satellite will be smaller than a normal Pokémon Center, with a more limited selection of merchandise. The store is not a pop-up but a permanent location. It will feature a large screen where visitors can see Pokémon information, Pokémon videos, and, occasionally, a Pokémon reporting the weather of the day.

Notably, the Joinus shopping center offers tax-free shopping services for tourists. Tax-free shopping policies vary between Pokémon Center locations in Japan, and the main Pokémon Center Yokohama does not offer tax-free shopping at all. Neither Joinus nor The Pokémon Company have clarified yet what Pokémon Center Yokohama Satellite’s tax-free shopping policies will be.
