Definitely, I wanted to hit the person who didn't put those in the originals.. WE'RE IN JOHTO!

@ Ryuutakesh!

It's been a while for me, Didn't Chuck have a Poliwrath and Hitmontop?

ikr the only male trainer who had a single gen ii pokemon was pryce

The teams all need serious overhauls, not only in terms of the inclusive Pokémon, but in level as well. At the very least:
  • Falkner needs a Hoothoot
  • Bugsy needs a Heracross
  • Whitney's pretty much set; half her team's of Johto origin, so yay
  • Morty needs a Misdreavus
  • Chuck could do with a Hitmontop
  • ...Actually, Jasmine's okay on that front, all things considered
  • Pryce is okay too, given that the only other GenII Ice-type was Smoochum
  • All I can suggest for Clair's team is LESS GODDAMN DRAGONAIR

And that'd be a bare minimum; more updates like that would be great. These probably aren't the best choices on that front, but they're arguably something. In addition to that, boosting the levels of each by at least five.

I'll shut up now.

No. It'd be another Miltank.

Delibird and Sneasel

Yes

Personally, I'd prefer to see an expanded pokedex ala Platium. (Adding 50 more monsters to the localdex) That way people like Chuck, Morty, Bugsy, Falkner and others can get some variety. (and not be so easy)

Ex.
Falkner - Hoot-hoot, Swellow
Bugsy - Nincada, Ladian, Scyther
Whitney - Cleffairy, Munchlax, Miltank
Morty - Haunter, Sableye, Mysdrevous, Gengar
Chuck - Makuhita, Primeape, Hitmontop, Poliwrath
Jasmine - Magnimite, Skarmory, Steelix
Pryce - Sneasel, Dewgong, Glalie
Clair - Dragonair, Gabite, Altaria, Kingdra

That's a lot of Hoenn. Not sure I'd go for that. This is Johto.

I just think there is not that many Johto pokemon, we've just finished Platinum (Which also basically had almost every Johto pokemon in the localdex), and we've done the Red and Blue monsters a lot. I don't foresee a need for a ruby and sapphire remake anytime in soon, so they might as well do the full reference to R&S (because they've already referenced it a lot) and add a bunch of their monsters to the expanded-dex (well, a bunch as in 50 total from both RSE and DPPt more monsters).

Maybe for rebattles, but for initial battles? No. It's Johto. They need Johto pokemon.

I agree that Chuck needs a Hitmontop, but what Chuck really needs is a Machoke, I know they need Johto Pokémon and Machoke's are overused, but having 4 is better than 3, he's the 5th Gym leader, he needs moar Pokémon.

Jasmine should get Skarmory or Scizor.

Pryce is a tough one, there's not many Ice types that are Johto related...

Clair... well...... Dragonite is too strong.

I'd rather Falkner have something like Natu or Murkrow as opposed to Hoot-Hoot. You see enough Hoot-Hoot early in the game as it is, what with the wild ones and the Sprout Tower trainers. Infact, I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t go straight to Noctowl either.
Hell, there’s the Hoppip line on back-up if you don’t want to be bird-exclusive.

Would like to see Bugsy with Ledian, since it’s not an amazingly strong pokemon anyway, and would be a adequite opponent at that point of the game. Plus it looks better when paired up with Scyther. Spinarak wouldn't go amiss either.

Chuck should have both Heracross and Hitmontop, while Jasmine with a Skarmory I largely agree with.

Falkner - Natu Togetic Hoothoot
Bugsy - Scizor Yanma Leduan
Whitney - Granbull
Morty - Misdreavus
Chuck - Heracross Hitmontop
Jasmine - Magneton Skarmory
Pryce - Delibird Sneasal
Clair - Dratini Faralgatr

Will - Slowking Girafarig
Koga - Weezing
Bruno - Steelix
Karen - Sneasal Tyranitar
Lance - Kingdra

Falkner: Hoothoot instead of Pidgey
Bugsy: Heracross instead of Scyther or instead of both Kakuna and Metapod
Whitney: Leave as is
Morty: Misdreavus instead of the second Haunter
Chuck: Hitmontop instead of Primeape
Jasmine: Magneton and Skarmory to replace both of the Magnemite
Pryce: Higher levels. Sneasel?
Clair: Leave as is

Falkner
Natu, Hoot Hoot, Pidgeotto - levels 11-13 (Hoot Hoot is a given, Natu is there because it's so rarely used)

Bugsy
Ariados, Yanma, Scyther - levels 16-19 (I think Heracross would be overkill for this early in the game, but for rematches it would be great)

Whitney
Clefairy, Aipom, Miltank - levels 20-23 (I chose to add Aipom because very few trainers have one and it kinda fits her I think)

Morty
Ghastly, Haunter, Misdreavus, Gengar - levels 24-29 (just switch one Haunter for Misdreavus and I'd say it works)

Chuck
Primeape, Tyrogue, Hitmontop, Poliwrath - levels 32-35 (I'd prefer Tyrogue since no other trainer has one I believe, but Hitmontop would be fine too)

Jasmine
Skarmory, Magneton, Steelix - levels 37-41 (one Magnemite ditched for Skarmory, the other evolves. Steelix is fine)

Pryce
Dewgong, Sneasel, Piloswine - levels 39-43 (Seel ditched for Sneasel, levels bumped up considerably. 7th Gym Leader with a level 31 Pokémon as his toughest is just ridiculous)

Clair
Dragonair, Dragonair, Gyarados, Kingdra - levels 45-50 (I just replaced one Dragonair with Gyarados for at least some variety, the other two can stay provided they have completely different movesets)

I bumped up the levels a bit, but not by too much. This way the Elite 4 can at least have Pokémon in the level 50s with Lance having one or two 60+ Pokémon on his team.

All of this would only work if the trainers along the way also had higher lvl Pokémon etc. Wild Pokémon would also have to be stronger. The route leading to the Indigo Plateau was pathetic with its level 26-27 wild Pokémon...

Heracross doesn't need to have moves like Megahorn or Close Combat though. But if it's too strong for Bugsy, then I'd like to see it as Chuck's signature Pokemon. IMO, they're Johto Leaders, so they have to have at least one Johto Pokemon.

Well, Heracross for Chuck wouldn't be half bad, actually. And I agree on Johto leaders having to have at least one Johto Pokémon on their team. And if it's Chuck's Pokémon it might get away with having more powerful moves as well (obviously it isn't going to have Megahorn yet).

Right now I'm expecting HGSS to be roughly the same as the original GS, but with those additions that have been confirmed. Still, I'm hoping for more of a challenge in the gym leaders (and, to a lesser extent, the Rocket leaders).
