Pokémon.com announced today several new lines of Pokémon toys set to be available in United States stores starting in January. Those in the lineup are deluxe figures, Battle Spinners, figures and mini plushes.

Please have decent Team Rocket stuff... Please have decent Team Rocket stuff.

I guess it didn't sell well enough where it was previously released?

It's sold well enough as far as I can see, all things considered. There were a significant number of problems with packaging and distribution, not to mention the utterly pathetic rules (when you make figures that are expensive and could break with young children, don't make rules that would only appeal to young children). The figures are great though, and I'm in the middle of experimentation to customize the rules to make a more enjoyable game. If Pokémon USA fixes the rules, the price, or makes a tournament scene for the game (there's a few rules issues which people have to pretty much decide on their own at the moment, since there's no hard and fast authority to go to for them), it could really take off. Until then...

I actually saw them on sale for the first time here today. :O

Wont actually be able to BUY any till the end of next month of course, by which time they'll probably be consigned to eBay. But oh well. Thought that counts eh?

Archaic, what happened to your TFG column?

Lack of things to talk about. I've recently been playing a large number of games with my little brother, so I hope to write up a few more in the near future, but they'll be irregular.

I figure my next column will probably be my thoughts in regards to the rules; what problems I see with them, and how they can be fixed for a better game.

I'm hoping it'll come out here.

I don't have any plans to play it (video games and the TCG is bankrupting me enough) but I want the Giovanni figure (and a grunt, if they have one) to add to my Team Rocket shrine.

These toys are actually really cheap and affordable. There was only one set with a figure I really wanted (Munchlax), but it was 8 bucks for three seperate, pretty big toys. Not very posable and the paint job could be better, but you can't beat the price. The whole line comes in 5 packs of 3, except Lucario who's packaged seperately for 4 bucks.

Does this mean I'll actually be able to find Pokemon plushies within twenty miles of my home? And exactly which chains are going to be stocking these toys?

Target has a good history of selling Pokemon stuff (at one point, they were the only store in my area who sold plushies). I wouldn't try Wal Mart, Meijer, or Kmart, though. I have had zero luck with those stores.

According to my experiences, the only places where the plushies are stocked is Target. Their boxes are even marked as "Target Exclusives".

The figures can be found at Target or Toys R Us, though. However, my Target was sold out of the figures the night of release. : o

As near as I can tell, Target is the only department store that still stocks Pokemon toy merchandise, with WalMart and Kmart having abandoned the line 2 months into Advanced Generation. Although DP might get some more toys onto their shelves. Until I went to Target, I was unaware Pokemon toys were still even being MADE for Gen III.

All the Targets in my area have taken out their pokemon section. And the last closest Toys R Us has been changed into a Babys R Us. So now the only place to get new, imported pokemon gear in San Francisco is a small section of a gift shop in Japan Town.

O boy. This is frustrating.
