Announced in the March issue of Dragon Magazine, a new TV anime series of Slayers is in the works. This information was leaked, so we don't have a title or cast yet (the cast is pretty safe to assume, though). We do know that it will be an anime-only storyline and will be split into two three-month seasons. Also, Takashi Watanabe, the director of the last three anime series, will be returning. J.C. Staff will produce the animation.

This is a dream come true for Slayers fans. For so long we have waited for a new series!

Wow, this certainly came out of nowhere...

Nice to see it get another series. And nice to see another fantasy series too, those have been a little far and few as of late.

Oh hell yes! This is too awesome! Slayers was my first anime, so it holds a special place in my heart. I can't wait :D

X3 Slayers was my first subbed anime and it also holds a special place in my heart.

A theory of mine ish that the footage from Memorial was a foreshadowing of the new series~

And nice to see another fantasy series too, those have been a little far and few as of late.

Seems that way to me too. That's part of what made me lose interest in anime, actually.

Anyway, that's really cool! Slayers was one of the first series that I really got into. I hope Megumi Hayashibara is in it... it just wouldn't be the same without her!

A new 26 episode series, for such an old property? That's...unexpected. It's got a lot of fans still amongst the hardcore otaku, but the majority of people into anime/manga/light novels in Japan these days would know of Slayers only as a series that was big a decade or so ago.

Moar Xellos plz.

Here's hoping Lisa, Eric, Crispin, and Veronica come back for the dub. Wouldn't be the same without them.

Oh, and Archaic? I'm hardly a hardcore otaku, but love Slayers as much as any other anime fan. It's right up there with Pokemon as far as I'm concerned. I think there's still a lot of people out there discovering Slayers (especially now that Funi's releasing all three original series cheap).

too joyous for words! Slayers had the first japanese songs i ever memorized~ charming show <3

wonder if Naga will be there :O

Wasn't talking about the American market Neku. ;) Was talking specifically about the Japanese market. Over there, it's rare for the common fan to be interested in any series that finished more than a year ago, if that.

Then maybe the American market is partially responsible for this series? It seems to be nothing less than a cult favorite here.

And that's fascinating. But then, Japan pretty much has anime on tap whenever you want it, so it's not like you ever need one series to really love for those dry periods.

God I hope Naga doesn't come back... the JIGGLE.

Martina, though, would be most welcome. I love the psycho.

I really hope there's more Lina/Gourry moments, I just love them together. xD

YAAAAAY!!! I love slayers, and I've always wished they would make another season, after the rather dissapointing Try. I wonder if this season will go back to following the manga, or if will be a new story.

There are two major things I'd like to see in this season: A. some good Amelia/Zelgadis scenes, and B. Naga meeting up with the main group, at least briefly. I REALLY want to see how she and Amelia react to each other. It would be nice too if they could get the old dub cast back together, but I highly doubt it. Didn't CPM go out of business a while ago? If it does get licenced here, it will probably be by Funimation; they'd probably be able to get Crispin Freeman if they tried, but I doubt they could get the others from New York.

As for the others, they would probably use the cast from Slayers Premium. (I type this as I'm using my boxed set of Slayers movies for a mouse pad. Don't look at me like that, I just got this computer and I don't have a desk to put it on. My back hurts from having to be hunched over on the floor to use it.)

Though I hope they can get David Moo to do Xelloss-sama's voice again. The guy in the movie just didn't get his catch phrase right. I would also find it fun if they got the guy to do Zexion's voice in KH:ReCoM since Xelloss-sama's Japanese VA did him (like how Quinton Flynn did both Axel and Reno, just like their Japanese counter parts)

This series is going to be a new story that hasn't been covered in the novels or manga yet (so, no Knight of Aqualord anime). There will be more information in the next issue of Dragon Magazine, but it seems to be confirmed that Lina, Gourry, Zelgadiss, Amelia, and Xelloss will all be in the series, and the producers are working to coordinate the voice actors' schedules. Apparently Megumi Hayashibara's work on Pokémon has gotten in the way before.

Yay, Xellos!

And I finally finished Next, so it does appear that Martina is out of the question.

It's been revealed that the title of the new series is "Slayers REVOLUTION."

There's also some fan speculation that Xelloss and/or his boss, Zelas Metallium, will be the villains in this series. But there's no official confirmation.
