Do you think that one day, there will be new special episodes, like the Pokemon Chronicles?
Frankly, I cannot what think about it. The Pokemon animated series are unforeseeable and unexpected.
Say to me what think you!
Five members of the Elites Four did not appear in Pokemon animated series. Like some protagonists of the video games (Leaf, Diamond, heroes of Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD, Pokemon Battrio, female protagonist of Pokemon Ranger Batonnage, male protagonist of Pokemon Ranger etc…).

I think Dogasu once said the previous specials didn't do all that well ratings wise, and now the only free timeslot is on Pokemon Sunday which is too early in the morning.

The only new specials we've gotten are the Mystery Dungeon shorts.

Personally I blame the lack of characters to use in the first set of specials. When you make 3 specials about Richie, and another 3 about Casey, you KNOW your show is not going to do well. The specials about the more important characters were excellent though, I loved the Brock/Misty/Tracey/Team Rocket ones.

Seriously, why did anyone want to watch a special about Casey and a cheerleading Charizard? WTF kind of an episode was that? I blame episodes like that for killing it.

Pokemon Chronicals was an epic fail. It felt like it was written by writers of an American childrens show. Predictable, boring, formulas.

=/

I liked the Pokemon specials. Of course, I'm very supportive of the other character's who don't get attention in the show. I like it all. I'm easy to please I guess! Haha. But I'd watch if they came out with new special eppies.

Well, I thought it was nice to see what other characters were doing while Ash was in Hoenn but the episodes were kinda dull to me.

The concepts and ideas were good, but the writing and execution were poor. In other words it had potential if in the right hands.

I'd be fine with them if they were actually good. And the dubbing has to be at least semi-good, not that shitfest 4Kids turned the Hosos into.

And the rest of the series is what exactly?

Or, atleast at the time those SPecials were made, what would you call that?

All that I'm saying is that the regular episodes are much more entertaining and fun to watch than chronicles. I'd never watch an episode of PC more than once.

But Chronicles/HoSos had Delia *doing* stuff! And we got to meet Brock's mom and found she's a complete psycho!

And they gave us the last two "new" Rockets--Viper and the Burger Girl (and Jesse's old partner I guess).

I did like it that the writers actually made a good chunk of specials without Ash.

Although, the lack of Ash and Pikachu is probably why the specials didn't do all that well.

Well, certainly there are a lot of characters that we would love to see have more coverage. In fact, with a certain someone (if I have to mention who, please crawl out of your rock), they already have another protagonist, so the special could be just as memorable as Ash's quests. And just imagine us actually learning more about underutilized characters such as Lawrence III. Of course, it is also a nice change of pace.

Haha, please tell me you're a fan too and didn't just say that to draw me into replying. Because it's fish in a barrel with me (and frankly, if they brought him back it would probably piss me off because I have a feeling they'd bring in completely different writers who'd try to redo his personality).

I'd like to see TR expanded on. Like a history of it. Who founded it and why? Has it always been in the hands of a single family? What happened to the previous leaders (especially Madame Boss)?

I do not like Lawrence III much, and I would be estatic for more character development for him and other characters like him.

Chronicles was a failure, and I believe Scott is correct.

I think the reason why it may have been dull, is that they never had that "character" to begin with, because everything was focused on Ash all the time. Maybe that's why the series flopped?

The thing is that in Japan, TV-Tokyo gave the Tuesday evening timeslot that the specials episodes used to occupy to another show. So even if more specials were made, there wouldn't be anywhere for them to air.

Sure, they have Pokemon Sunday, but airing new anime specials on an early Sunday morning timeslot is pretty much ratings suicide. It's probably much more worth their time to use that slot for the 30-minute advertisement that Pokemon Sunday's always been.

Actually, yes, I thought Lawrence III had a lot of potential as a character, but he was woefully underdeveloped in the second movie. His motives were different from the average bad guy, and it would be nice to actually expand on that motive. But to be honest, yes, I could have used someone else as an example, but he was the first one to come to my mind at the time.

Initially, when I first saw the series, I thought that we would finally get that second series with a different protagonist we were all waiting for. Then I realized that it was about minor characters. Not that the latter is bad, but I would have loved to see more of the G/S/C crew rather than just random pointless episodes. Now that we have the three Hoenn coordinators entering their turf, things could be even more interesting, if they dare to try this again.
