New summaries for upcoming episodes

"The Yosuga Gym Match! (Satoshi) vs. Melissa!!"
"Satoshi is going to challenge the Gym Leader of the Yosuga Gym, Melissa. Satoshi is absolutely sure that his Buoysel will be able to respond to the Ganger Melissa has chosen as he starts to put the pressure on Melissa's Ghost-type. However, just as Buoysel is about to deliver the finishing blow, Ganger uses its Hypnosis attack on Buoysel!"

"The Chaotic Melee in Mio City!"
"After arriving in Mio City, Satoshi and his friends fall into one of the Rocket-Dan's traps and become separated from Pikachu and the others. While Satoshi and the other search for Pikachu-tachi, the Rocket-Dan's Nyasu appears and unexpectantly tells them that he wants to quit the Rocket-Dan and become their friend."

"Cresslia vs. Darkrai! / The Old Chateau and Rotom!"
"Satoshi and his friends go to the Mito Gym to sign up for a Gym battle, but they're told that the Gym Leader is out. After getting in touch with Orchid-Hakase, our heroes learn about the Mori no Youkan ("Old Chateau") and the delicious foods they have there. Satoshi-tachi go to the house to get some of this food, but it's closed. Satoshi and his friends are about to turn around to leave when..."

So, the Forest Manor is actually a well-known and inhabited place? It sounds like they changed the haunted house into a FOOD SHOP! Oh, writers, what a perfect way to ruin the place!

But at least we'll see the Old Gateau, the item from the games!

"Where's an Old Chateau, there's an Old Gateau!"

Anyway, is it only me who finds the "Cresselia vs. Darkrai" summary a bit... unsatisfactory? We're getting such an interesting episode and practically NO INFO about it!

Gee, I still hope that Sailor Namiki and his son appear in it.

Anyway, we're getting another "the group gets separated" episode. How boring! It will suck!

I'd ask how the HELL is that "ruining" the place, but I'd rather not because you'd just whine more. Good ol' Maxim, you can always trust him to be unhappy with everything.

I'm curious about the group separation episode. Wonder what Jessie and James have to do with Meowth's behavior this time.

So, you think that changing a haunted house into a food shop is actually an improvement?

Old Gateau. The title uses 羊羹.

Having read Dogasu's summaries...

1. They're using cake (well, the French word for it) in the title of an episode. Cue the lame Portal jokes.

2. The summary describes "delicious foods" available in the Old Chateau. I always got the impression that Old Gateau was rotten cake (being in, you know, an ABANDONED MANSION). Is bad food suddenly tasty in the Pokemon world? Or will this be an episode along the lines of that scene in Just Waiting for a Friend, where they THINK they're eating delicious food but it all turns out to be an illusion?

Either way, this episode sounds promising. Also, I don't see the implication anywhere that Old Chateau is "well known". It may be Oak remembered the place from his childhood but it had long since closed and been abandoned. Which makes sense, regarding the Old Gateau.

Never trust the English version. Yeah, it's an "Old Gateau", in other words a Rotten Cake in English version. But in Japanese it's 森の羊羹 (Sweet Bean Jelly from the Forest). No word of it being rotten or old. So, "Old Gateau" is NOT a rotten cake.

...what.

Sweet Bean Jelly from the Forest? You know, if I wasn't a fan of bean jelly dumplings, that name would be even FUNNIER than Old Gateau. But I am, and can say they are tasty little morsels.

Although in fairness "Old Gateau" could imply a traditional recipe as well (like a recipe for "old fashioned apple pie").

That still doesn't explain what an abandoned mansion/hotel in the woods is doing with not bad at all baked goods (unless Rotom Oven Forme made them, which is pretty damn funny).

Well, the original word is "youkan", which can mean both a type of jelly and a manor. Chateau/gateau was the closest the English translators could get to conveying the original pun.

Does it explain how the heck there getting from Yosuga City to Mio City so quickly?

I know it's different in Japanese. Still, if this thread dies without ONE the cake is a lie joke, I will be very surprised.

Just like I mentioned, the "abandoned mansion/hotel in the woods" is no longer going to be an "abandoned mansion/hotel in the woods". The writers seem to have changed the Old Chateau into a food shop. Sad but true. But according to Snake Bandage, it's an improvement...

While Satoshi and the other search for Pikachu-tachi, the Rocket-Dan's Nyasu appears and unexpectantly tells them that he wants to quit the Rocket-Dan and become their friend.

...What is this devilry? It's probably a ploy, but still...>.>;

So the gym leader isn't there? *sigh* cue 10 episodes of messing around in the general area before he comes back...and then Ash will probably lose to him ^^;;.

That meowth episode sounds interesting. But who wants to bet he's just doing it as part of some plan to try and trick the twerps?

So are the Cresselia and Rotom episodes another 1 hour special?

The Team Rocket episode was done twice in AG, just in reverse.

There was the Hoenn episode where Pikachu got amnesia and joined Team Rocket, and then the Battle Frontier episode where Jessie/James switch places with Butch/Cassidy and Meowth goes solo.

And this is on top of all the Pikachu/Meowth adventure episodes, where we get plenty of.

The writers always seem to make like two or three eps like this every saga, they did it plenty of times in Johto and once in Orange Islands as well.

But it should at least be intresting if Meowth does join the gang. I'd like it if he did for a few episodes. That'd make more an intresting twist. Out of all the episodes this one I'm looking forward to. He and Ash are my favorite characters of Pokemon.

Now I'm really excited about the Mio City episode. Even though it's a cliché, I hope it's amnesia rather than some sort of trick. Nyasu remembering his past is much more interesting than Pikachu blasting him off for being deceitful for the millionth time.
