New Type: Light. Good Idea, or Bad?

To start off, I was surprised this wasn't a topic already, and yes, I searched the forums.

I personally vote bad. There is no actual point to the Light Type, except counteracting with the Dark Type. To me, it's just as dumb as making a Gelatinous Type to counteract the Steel Type. However, some Types work the counteracting better, such as Water and Fire, and Ground and Flying, but even in these cases, the two types aren't necessarily opposite.

A new Type may not be such a bad idea, but this "long awaited" Light Type just seems like a bad idea. =/ Maybe it's just me. Any other ideas for new types? Or any justification for Light becoming a Type?

I see one which asks for opinions and speculations of new types and new types idea (which... for some reason never showed up the first time I searched ), and one that got locked I believe asking about the whole idea behind "Light". Honestly, it's enough to be its own topic. ;~;

The mods will still close it. Other people that've made threads only about light type had their threads closed to. The thread to discuss any new type in general should still be open.

BAD IDEA!!! There may be a type or so to make every type have at least three weaknesses, and Poison a new SE but i doubt it.

Bad, bad, and more bad. The idea of a light type needs to be smothered in hot sauce, cooked over an open fire, and eaten with a butcher knife. I can't even express how much I hate the idea of light type. If a different type was introduced I wouldn't mind it though.

Secondly, I'm wondering what people generally relate the whole Light Type to. Is it actual luminance, or some form of purity?

Reshiram is a pretty big nail in the coffin, but I am not calling it yet. (Mind you, I still want the idea to die a horrific death) We don't even have enough pokes revealed to account for the types we DO know. (Rock, Poison, Bug, Ghost, Fighting, and Ice not being represented yet) Mind you, I don't think all 17 types got a pre-release poke last time, either.
