The new voice director of the series has been confirmed as long running actress Lisa Ortiz who of late has voiced Oshawott, Fletchinder among others, one of her earlier roles being that of Daisy, Misty's sister
 
I don't foresee her doing as bad a job as Tom Wayland did. Though it wouldn't be hard to top someone who never did any more than one take per line/scene. If she catches up to Theresa Buchheister, I'll be really impressed. Although I'm not ruling that possibility out. But we'll see.
 
I think she'll be great for the job. She is a talented voice actress and she has had experience voice acting for years. I wonder if she'll bring anyone from the 4kids era back like maybe Veronica Taylor to voice some Pokemon, cotds, or a main character once the Sun and Moon series starts.

Hate to burst your bubble of hope, since I've shared the same in finding compromises for returning the original dub actresses and and retired actor Eric Stuart, yet Veronica and Rachel are both in LA and unless they do the scratch track method they won't be able to get her to voice in Pokemon again whether as long time reprisals of Ash and Jessie respectively or any CoTDs. Still with a veteran Pokemon actress from the beginning up here I'm have a renewed faith in the dubs alleged mediocre reception will improve. Hopefully we'll here more roles from her in the show as well.
 
Lets hope she does something good here. I can live with not having the original cast back, but having the original music, and better scripts would be nice. Still keeping caution though, she did voice Chopper in the 4kids dub after all.

Yep, and I'm optimistic about it. Maybe she can get the other actors to put some more emotion into their performances. But hopefully not too much. That was her exact problem all along in most of her performances, as well as being one of my many many problems with the show's original version. Overacting is hardly, if ever, a good thing.

Because in the 15 years since the Johto arc, it's not like she underwent further studies into voice acting or even directing, right? /s

She's done very well in BW and XY, so it's sad to see you fault her for something that took place so long ago.
 
So I am not going to lie I looked her up and saw that she voiced Ash's Oshawott in BW and he is by far my favorite Pokemon in Ash's party from the BW series (Honestly I didn't hate BW, I liked it; Cilan was & is my everything, though Iris got on my very last nerves). So I hope she continues on as voice director. :D

And besides, any actor has the potential for a wide range. Look at J.K. Simmons; he usually plays loud and over-the-top characters like J. Jonah Jameison, but there he was in The Legend of Korra playing Tenzin, a calm and reserved monk. He gave a similar performance as
the real Stanford Pines
. In fact, even Lisa Ortiz herself gave a reserved performance as Sabrina back in Kanto.
