I heard on the radio station 10 10 wins that Governer Patterson of NY legalized gay marriage

No other sources?

Oh, well, if New York has legalized gay marriage, that's just another reason why it's my favorite place in the world, man.

I just heard it today when I was in my mom's car and I just came home so for right now, that's the only source

EDIT: It's not legalized yet. At least the bill is around

Let's fervently hope that it passes.

Seems that the movement for the same rights to be applied to all people is finally gaining ground.

Tell that to California....

*sigh* Again, that's just the cynic in me. I really, really lost faith in the people of my state when that sh*t passed, and I felt severely disillusioned, so I'm not inclined to think that something like this will pass anywhere else without this same type of bull.

This is not saying that I don't hope that this bill in New York passes, because I do. I just also can't help but keep an eye out for NY's own version of Prop 8.

Just in time for the Day of Scilence!

Im glad people are starting to accept gay marriage. Sorta. Its better than 20-30 years ago, thats for sure.

(residents of all states can find celebration/protest parties in their area)

I am all for gay marriages and all but if this goes through I will be upset. I mean it is bad enough that when I will be visiting the states hopefully thiws year I will have to sleep with the knowledge that a gay bar is down the block but now I have to stand the partying for the new couple? Ugh long sleepless nights are ahead for me. If I go.
Anyway yeah if they want to be in love and marry each other so what. Its not the race skin color or gender its what is in your heart.

It's important news that needs to be discussed. People's rights have been repressed for too long.

On the other hand, every thread will turn into the same thing. There's only so much that can be discussed about this.

Two posts before someone somehow links Christianity to this thread.

Three posts until someone bashes it.

Four posts until someone makes a 'zombie Jesus' reference.

Seriously can we have a merger and rename the thread 'Gay marriage in the US'...

You missed out on the neo-conservative right-wing fanatics...

Note: Not everyone with a conservative opinion is a neo-con.

Also: Christianity forbids homosexuality, therefore all forms of marriage should be straight-only. (come on Zombie Jesus!)

Not saying that. What they say compels me to use that phrase.

That is based on religion though, whereas here they don't want to bring these beliefs with them.
