New Zealand Man Charged With Assault for Throwing Hedgehog

Hurling a hedgehog at a teenager has landed a New Zealand man a date in court, a report said.

William Singalargh picked up the animal and threw it about five metres (15 feet) at a 15-year-old in the eastern North Island town of Whakatane in February, the Herald on Sunday reported.

"It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks," said Senior Sergeant Bruce Jenkins, of the Whakatane police.

"He was arrested shortly afterwards for assault with a weapon, namely the hedgehog."

Police did not say why the alleged assault took place, and were unsure if the hedgehog was alive before the incident.

But they confirmed the hedgehog was dead afterwards and had been collected as evidence.

Singalargh was due to appear in court on April 17 to face the assault charge.

On one hand, this is animal cruelty, but I still laughed. (Makes me feel real bad about now, lol) I guess this is what happens when you Delay Smash Brothers from Aus region for no real viable reason other than Europe needs more languages.

This whole thing is really... dumb decision after another.

OMG! This is so funny!! The world never ceases to amaze me. Of course you need to think about that poor hedgehog being hurled into the air... But I mean why would you throw a goddamn hedgehog in the first place?

Ewww did the guy realise how fucking dirty a hedgehog is. This story is I remember as a kid havng Hedgehogs as pets although they didn't like to be kept as pests so dad would make us release them. Possums on other hand if you get them as a baby are wonderful pets until they grow older and then they have sharp claws and everything but they act like dogs so they're so cute. But we'd always have to let them go when they were older. Hopefully dad didn't dong them on the head but actually released them. We had a blind possum and a possum with a funny leg. Possums are just cute as babies. Wild rabbits on the other hand, well they just die so don't allow your kids to keep wild baby rabbits. And I can't believe dad killed my sheep that I named Jem after Jem and the Holograms (whatever happened to those) and was like seven at the time and had one baby its first time pregnant and then twins thereafter. The lambs never liked us but Jem was a lovely sheep but one day he died and dad said that the meat was too tough so we weren't going t eat her. But dad just lied so I ate my sheep. Oh well we use to eat the pigs that we were once friendly to so all that ends well ends. Awww I miss those days of having funny animals nowdays I just have a dog named Toby.

Anyway back to the story. The guy is a dickhead but Hedgehogs can be quite a pest because they destory natural fauna and some even eat kiwi birds and lizard eggs etc etc. But this guy is well a dickhead. And sorry but hurting animals is wrong. I'm not saying you can't euthanise animals or go hunting or anything, but doing what this guy did is well cruel so I'm all for him being charged.
