Sign Ups Newfound Academy (Third time is a charm?)

Plot:

Deep within in the Johto Region, there's an academy that stands in the outskirts of Ecruteak City. It is based at the foot of Mt. Mortar, and is surrounded by woods, lakes, and the caves within Mt. Mortar's walls. It has been called one of the more prestigious academies throughout the Johto and Kanto regions. Students, starting at age sixteen, have been invited to spend four years in the Newfound Academy. With each year that passes, the students will get Pokemon, learn the ways of battling, coordinating, breeding, ranching, and so forth. Each selected student throughout the world will receive a letter, inviting them to be a student.

The Academy has four houses in which the students can reside in for their four years. It is decided upon entry. Also, during your first day, you will receive your first Pokemon. That Pokemon will be your partner, and will help you grow and become stronger throughout your time here. Your Starter Pokemon is to determined upon entry.

How will your first year at Newfound Academy go? What challenges will you face? You will make friends and create rivalries as you gain new experiences. New Pokemon will wait for you, and it's up to you to decide what path you will take.

Teachers can have up to 6 Pokemon, but no legendaries, as they will be used in the plot of the story.
Teachers may not have a team of 'overly powerful' Pokemon either. I don't expect teachers to be super powerful to where no one could even attempt to beat them.
I'm usually nice and am willing to make compromise, but when it comes to these rules, I'm standing my ground.

Sexuality: Straight. She is a big hopeless romantic as she always dreams of a fairytale romance. However, she knows that stuff like that doesn't exist. She just wants a relationship where she can be happy, and actually have a reason to look forward to her future. She's never had a boyfriend, but would like to have one(she doesn't obsess over it or anything).

Year Year 1

Appearance: Luna is around 5’3, and has a petite frame. Her hair is actually dyed a lot, so it isn't one color for long. Currently, it is a dark lavender hue. The natural curl she has makes it appear as if it was “scrunched”. Luna is also heterochromatic. Her left eye is a vibrant green(think a lighter shade of Emerald) while her right eye is baby blue. She also has very, very fair skin (almost ghastly white). She does straighten her hair often though, so fifty percent of the time her hair is straight, and fifty percent of the time it's curly. When her hair is straightened, it falls past the midst of her back. Her body type is a slim, but she's tried to gain weight so she wouldn't look unhealthy. As a result, her body has soft curves and she doesn't look as unhealthy as she used to. She looks more filled out and in proportion. Her face is in a heart shape. She has a fairly decent complexion. She does wear make-up, but it's usually at a minimum. Average days, she wears foundation powder, black eyeliner and a pink lipgloss. When it comes to formal events, she'll wear mascara and eye shadow as well. She has a rather sweet, innocence about her.

She usually wears a lime green t-shirt with a black lightning bolt across the front. Mostly, she wears a golden necklace with a heart-shaped locket on it. It doesn't have any pictures in it yet, but she hopes one day she can put pictures in it. She also wears dark wash blue jeans, and wears black sandals. . While she keeps her dark jeans a consant factor in her wardrobe, she has multiple tops that are every color imaginable (varying from a pale pink top all the way to a bumble bee yellow). She does have different pairs of shoes as well. A pair of white tennis shoes, neon colored converse sneakers, black high tops, netural colored dressy sandals, etc. When it comes to formal wear, she will always go with a dress. One of her favorite dresses is a red, knee-length bubble dress that is strapless and has a black sash that wraps around her stomach area. She also has red heels, black heels, or silver dress sandals to wear with it. Her hair would be curled with a one inch barrel of a curling iron. She has a LBD(little black dress) that is in a bandage style, and a few other dresses. Her fashion sense appears to be punk/scene, but she adds her own twists to it. At night, she usually dresses in her nighttime lingerie consisting of black lace, red lace, and sometimes, bright pink lace lingerie.

Personality: Luna is a quiet, shy, anti-social girl at first glance. She doesn't have any friends where she’s living at, so she can only rely on herself. Her father has raised her to have high expectations and morals. In all reality though, her standards aren’t that high but her morals are embedded into her core. She plans to do her best to stick with them at all times. Due to her father’s strict ways, she keeps up this shy, snobbish exterior. She plans on breaking free of it once she’s away from her father. Her real personality is a more humble, gentle type. She is somewhat shy when you first meet her, she’ll quickly come out of her shell and be sociable. She isn’t a ‘party girl’ or anything of the sort, but she is up for a good adventure or two. Of course, her studies come first, and she refuses to let anything else come second. Her love for writing has filled up some of the gaps of depression that she feels, but there are still skeletons that Luna refuses to let anyone know about. Not even her father knows of these skeletons. Her IQ is around 100, and her expertise is English and writing. She hopes to one day become an author, and write of her adventures, that she plans to go on, with her Pokemon. She doesn't swear much, but she will in times of extreme happiness/joy/excitement, or in times of depression and high stress. Since she has a higher IQ, she has a hard time focusing in class. However, she's eager to always learn more. When it comes to subjects such as mathematics, she just can't seem to grasp it and constantly needs to be shown how to do it. When it comes to English, writing, poetry, art, etc. she is always thirsting to learn more. Her mind is always wandering (creatively) and she uses these vessels in order to get her creativity out of her brain. When it comes to homework, she's a big procrastinator unless it's an assignment that she would enjoy doing. Nonetheless, she always gets her assignments turned in on time. Since she was so sheltered, she has no experience of dealing with people her age, especially guys. She would be nervous, and shy if she developed a crush on a guy. Eventually, she would probably open up to people and show her real side: More outgoing, flirty(without realizing it), and all while keeping most of her innocent side. She's never really had human friends. Due to that, she doesn't exactly know how to act in social situations, and deeming her "socially awkward". In times of stress and anxiety, she tends to get really agitated and cries a lot. However, she only cries when no one is around and she's alone. Other than that, she doesn't tend to cry much. Of course, if there was a death or tragic event, she would cry. If she got rejected by a guy, she may possibly cry(this has yet to be proven). She is usually calm, but has a temper. Certain things drive her over the edge, and when she gets mad, she usually goes into a yelling match. She doesn't do anything drastic like throw things or break mirrors. After her meltdown, she ends up crying.

Back story: Luna Rose Hunter was born on December 17th, in the Pastoria City hospital. She weighed around 7 pounds, and 6 ounces. In length, she was around 21 inches long. Overall, a cute little baby. Her father couldn’t have been more happy and proud of her. However, her mother didn’t seem too thrilled with the arrival of Luna. It wasn’t until the age of six that Luna learned of her mother’s hate towards her.

One September day, her mother packed her things and left both Luna and her father. No visible reasons as to why she left, but a letter to Luna’s father made it evident that the six year old was one of the main reasons she left. That letter exposed all of this built-up jealousy towards the little girl. The letter also mentioned that her mother wanted to get back into the “modeling” industry, as it was called. In all reality, it was more of her wanting to post risqué photos on the internet to try and get famous. The only reason her mother stopped to begin with was that she had gotten pregnant, and had to marry Luna’s father. She figured the time was right to leave and continue living her life without any baggage. The letter had crushed Luna’s father, and left an impact on Luna’s life.

After that, Luna’s father packed up and moved the two to Eterna City, where he hoped they could begin a new life; a new life without the horrid memories of what happened. For the next four years, Luna’s father kept her home schooled and became a really strict parent. Some of the restrictions she was faced with seemed kind of ludicrous. Only 30 minutes of TV per day, no video games, no outdoor activities, no socialization with the other children, and her father put her into a ritual that she followed every single day. Her father did this as a way of protecting his daughter from the outside world. He worried her caring, gentle nature would cause her to get hurt, both physically and mentally. The last thing he wanted was his daughter suffering the same fate that he did when his ex-wife walked out on him. He thought this would be all it took for him to stay happy and to keep Luna safe from harm. However, when Luna started puberty, her father saw that he was going to have to make some changes. Changes were definitely made.

Life seemed 'okay' until she hit the ripe age of thirteen. The depressive side of puberty began taking over. At night, she would often cry herself to sleep because she constantly had nightmares of her mother coming back and murdering her. This sleep cycle became routine for two months before her father took her to a psychiatrist. The Psychiatrist diagnosed Luna with manic depression. It was suggested that Luna either have more interaction with Pokemon or go to a therapist. Her father didn’t want Luna to be swayed by a therapist, so he simply agreed to get her involved with Pokemon more. At night, after everyone was asleep, he would take Luna to the Eterna Forest where she could play with some of the friendlier Pokemon. Luna had befriended a Murkrow, Misdreavus, Wurmple, Dustox, and Buneary. For months, she continued to play with them every night she could. However, these friendships didn’t last long.

One night, Luna went into the forest to visit her friends when she saw them being captured by a traveling trainer. She tried to stop the trainer, only to realize that she couldn’t get them back, no matter how hard she tried. Her heart was broken. After that night, she hasn’t set foot anywhere near the Eterna Forest.

A year later, Luna had been focusing more on her studies, and developed a new passion for writing and poetry. While she never really wrote Poetry for herself, the poems she did as school assignments were incredible. Same went with her short stories. Her father couldn’t believe how intelligent his daughter was in the subject of creative writing. Of course, Luna did well in her art, history, and science classes as well. Like her father, Luna’s weak subject was math. That didn’t stop her from her real mission: To be a Pokemon trainer. Her father was repulsed at the idea, and suggested that she continued her studies. She felt destroyed. All she wanted in life was to prove herself and her father that she could achieve her dreams of being a Pokemon trainer, all while pursuing a career of being an author. When she found out that she was going to Newfound Academy, she was ecstatic. Her father, however, wasn't so thrilled about the idea. When he came to terms with the fact his little girl was leaving, he hugged her and told her that he loved her. After that, her father took her to the train station where he hugged her one last time and watched as she got onto the train that took her to Johto.

Others: Luna loves to draw, sing, and write. She does have manic depression, an anxiety disorder, and a mild case of Asperger's Syndrome. She's bringing her Cell Phone, Laptop, a fuzzy purple blanket, and a stuffed Seel Plush that she slept with when she was a baby. She's also bringing her MP3 player, and it has over 200 songs on it. Mostly songs that inspire creativity and bring out her hopeless romantic side. She does have allergies, but mostly to smoke, dust, dust mites, and heavily perfumed scents. Strong cologne also makes her somewhat queasy as the smell is sometimes too strong. She has an abnormal fear of needles, and has a very low pain tolerance. Her favorite dish is Chicken Parmesan, and she loves soda. She has a notebook that she lists all of the qualities that she wants in a boyfriend or potential mate

Appearance: Phoenix stands at 6’4’’ with waist length red hair that looks like feathers. His frame looks thing due to his height, but he is actually toned. His hair is usually worn down unless the occasion is special, and looks as though he just woke up with some locks of curling up. Much like his hair, his eyes are also red, looking as though a fire is burning in them. For clothing he wears two different styles depending on his mood. If he is in a good mood then he wears black knee high boots with blue pants tucked into them, and a blue jacket that reaches to his knees with gold embroidery, based off of 18th century French clothing. When he’s in a bad mood he just wears simple black shoes, black slacks, and a white long sleeved button up.

Personality: Phoenix is usually cheerful and friendly to a point. He always enjoys a nice conversation with anyone, regardless of whom they are, and loves to joke around. However he can also be judgmental at times due to his high class background. This judging is usually by the clothing; however he gladly takes the time to get to know someone before ultimately deciding whether or not he likes them. He is a flirt when it comes to women, and is good at it with most women. He also has a sense of chivalry with woman, though he views them as equals too, the only difference in treatment being of the physical kind. He has large fear of death, and avoids those surrounded in it. He loves to learn about pokémon and finds breeding especially interesting. He is far from normal when it comes to teaching, to the point that if told to use a textbook he does not want to use; he would toss it through the window and teaches what he knows and wants to. However he also cares very much for his students, even if he acts as though he doesn’t. He is more sensitive then he allows people to see, putting on a façade. Other than his knowledge of breeding, he is very intelligent. Even though he doesn't act like it, he actually cares greatly for his family, and his friends as well. His first language is French but speaks fluent English, and never has trouble switching.

History: Phoenix was the second born child in his family; his older sister being six years older than Phoenix grew up learning how to become the future head of Phoenix Corporations, a family business that had started during the times of lords and serfs, his family being one of the lords. He was forced to learn proper manners and to look down on others that were not of his stature, amongst other kinds of information. Due to this he was never allowed a pokémon, and had little interaction with them. His personality took a turn not in their preferred direction, however his parents dealt with it because he learned what they wanted, and learned it well. Phoenix however had a different life choice when he was sixteen. The family took a trip to Ecruteak for some business stuff, and there Phoenix learned the legend of Ho-oh. He became fascinated with the legendary, wanting to learn all he could about it, and along with it, more about pokémon in general. His parents immediately shut him down, depressed he had walked around the city and found a hungry meowth. Feeding it, the meowth began to fall him around, and from there he decided that he would go on a journey without the help of his parents. He left from Ecruteak, only taking a little money and few clothing items, not saying a word to his family. He traveled around, making money through selling things and gambling. He learned about pokémon from all different kinds of people.

It wasn’t until he was twenty that he settled down somewhere. He met a woman, who was a breeder, the two quickly fell in love and married, having two children. She taught him all he knows about breeding and they were happy until he was twenty five. His wife and two children died in a car accident due to a drunk driver, leaving Phoenix all alone, and with a large fear of death and those surrounded by it. He soon became cold and heartless, putting on a façade around others. About two months after the accident, he decided to head back home for the first time in years. There he re met his nieces of thirteen and fifteen, the older being the perfect child in the eyes of the Phoenix family, much like his own sister had been. However his younger niece turned out to be closer to that of how Phoenix was, though with a strong fear of men that were not family. Because of this, Phoenix grew close to her and his heart started warming again. He had taken over the family business much like his parents had always hoped, though he made a habit of using woman whenever he felt annoyed or saddened upon thinking of his dead wife and children. His parents surprisingly concerned for him, discovered his past and got him a job teaching at Newfound Academy, saying he was perfectly capable of running the company and teaching some kids. Thus at twenty six he began working at the academy. There he reunited with a childhood friend of his.

Appearance: Blazil has long fiery red hair that goes past her shoulders and looks feathery and light, and eyes like flames. She is not tall standing at no more than 5’4’’ with skin that is light in color. She wears conservative clothing usually being long sleeved and that covers her legs. However it is also feminine, usually skirts and leggings, and light and neutral colors.

Personality: Blazil is very shy and has little confidence, not in looks but socially. She has slight androphobia due to bad experiences with her family, and is really only comfortable around her family and her best friend Abby. Around her family she is easily socialable, and especially around her uncle, who she makes sure to chastise for bad habits. She is very kind and caring, and love children and pokémon of all kinds. She is always willing to help, and do what she can. Outside of that she works hard in school, and she speaks with a French accent, that is actually quite thick. She is of course fluent in French and English.

History: Blazil is the second born daughter and child of the Solaire family’s eldest son. Thus she is an heiress to the large company. She was raised in private schools, and unlike the mistake made with her uncle, around pokémon. However the private schools she was raised in were all girl schools. While her sister became flirtatious and whatnot, she became shy and recluse, having difficulty making friends. Her relationship with males were the worse as her outside experiences never went well save for family. Growing up only her uncle was her solace whenever he was in her life. When she turned sixteen she asked her family to let her attend newfound as she wished to become a breeder like her uncle, rather than work in business. With her parent’s support she entered the academy. The summer before entering she met her uncle’s best friend’s daughter, Abby, and the two became good friends.

Appearance: Brad is an outdoorsy type, so he keeps in fairly good shape. He comes from Snowpoint City originally, and while he's travelled a lot, he still gets warm easily. Even in chillier weather, it's rare for him to bundle up. Due to the cold climate and lack of sun of his hometown, he has somewhat pale skin. He doesn't tan, but he gets freckles if he's out in the sun. Brad has soft, wavy black hair, and his eyes are almost red.

Personality: Brad is a very laid back, easygoing person. He's a bit outgoing, and seems to have never been told not to talk to strangers as a kid. A lot of people might call it lazy, and he has a tendency to procrastinate, or just not do things. He's of at least average intelligence, but he never had good grades in school simply because he would always put stuff off to the last minute. He can be responsible when he really wants to: He'll never break his word, for example. It's just that there isn't a lot he considers truly important.

As far as hobbies, he's fairly athletic. He played volleyball at the beach a few times, and he really enjoys it. He also likes swimming a lot, and is very good at it. He has an interest in martial arts, but has never really had the chance to get into it. He's a bit artsy as well, and is quite proficient at painting. He also likes books a lot. He'll read anything, but he especially likes books where the main character goes a bunch of different places.

History: Brad grew up in Snowpoint, but his parents were both rangers. So he and his siblings would often go with then when they went on extended missions. So while he spent most of his formative years in Snowpoint, he's also lived all over Hoenn and Sinnoh. He kept in contact with many of his friends via mail or the internet. At the urging of his parents, he's going to the academy. While he feels obligated to become a ranger, he also wants to be a battler.

Future Career: He ain't sure. He's looking into ranger, but he enjoys battling as well.

Name: Gianna Azarola

Sexuality: Asexual (heteromantic)

Appearance: Standing at 5'5", Gianna has dark skin and long, curly brown hair that reaches a bit below her shoulders. Her eyes are light brown in color, and are almost always accented by makeup. She wears large, black rimmed glasses, as her eyesight is quite poor without them. Her body is fit, and it is obvious she leads an active life style. She weighs around 125 pounds. Clothing wise, Gianna tends to wear athletic wear. Basketball shorts, t-shirts, and tanktops are all examples of the type of clothing she wears. She also always wears her favorite necklace, which has a small diamond in it. It is her prized possession, and it means everything to her.

Personality: Gianna is very loud and outgoing. She's self motivated and pushes herself to do better, even when she knows such a thing isn't possible at times. She tries to act cool and collected around others, but somehow, she tends to mess it up. Gianna can be socially awkward at times due to poorly placed comments and jokes, but overall, she gets along well with people. She is supportive of friends, and will always help if it is needed. She's quick on her feet, and can actually be quite smart. She loves to read books, and wants to know more about each Pokemon and what they do.

History: She lived a relatively normal life. Growing up with her mom being a talented trainer, and with her father being a breeder, things were rarely outlandish. As a child, her mother used to take her flying through the sky on her Swanna. In love the idea of battling in the sky, Gianna began to study various types of flying type Pokemon. She is quite knowledgeable on this topic. Gianna knew she wanted to be a trainer from a young age, but she never actually did anything about it until she received a certain letter. Her younger sister, Sarah, looks up to her. This fact has always made Gianna quite uncomfortable.

Appearance: Thomas takes great pride in his appearance, sometimes to a degree most would classify as obsessive. Standing at about 5'8 in height, he maintains a noticeably built form, staying in impressive shape year-round. Taking full advantage of his local environment near Floaroma Town, he exercises almost daily, and has managed to pick up a decent tan in the process. However, his pseudo-obsession with his appearance applies to more than just his physical fitness. From the messy blonde hair complementing his jade eyes down to the brown loafers he usually wears, nearly every visible detail is chosen carefully, often in a time-consuming process. However, with that being said, his wardrobe sports a surprisingly low amount of variety. Unless he's exercising, Thomas is more often than not wearing the same outfit, which makes one question why exactly he spends so much time working on his appearance. The outfit itself consists of tan khaki pants, a bright green zip-up jacket (usually unzipped), a semi-tight fitting white or pink t-shirt, brown loafers, and black fingerless gloves. Overall, his appearance is very much a manifestation of his personality: vivid, detailed, and potentially very flamboyant.

Personality: Many people would expect that anyone who spends as much time as Thomas working on their appearance would have to be self-centered by nature. Unfortunately, this often ends up being true in the case of this young Coordinator-to-be. While he usually means well, his self-absorption has had definite effects on his social skills. Easily identifiable as a strong extrovert, he will fearlessly try to make friends with a complete stranger, but his subconscious desire to be the center of attention has cost him a few friendships in the past. Furthermore, Thomas has only recently become aware of this issue, since many of this acquaintances for one reason or another never explained to him why they couldn't really be friends. As a result, he has occasionally been undergoing a conflict of personality, if you will, as he wants to be able to make friends and keep them, but try as he might he always seems to return to his old habits. All things considered, he is a caring individual, but he ideally needs to learn to care more for others and less about himself.

History: Thomas was born to a somewhat wealthy family located in a solitary villa near Floaroma Town. His family's wealth originated from the parents owning significant stock shares in the nearby Fuego Ironworks, and as such the family could live comfortably without much work. However, even though he did enjoy many of the luxuries that came with this wealth, Thomas despised the idea of living this passive lifestyle when he himself was an adult, and as such he decided at an early age that he wanted to live life to its fullest, and see all of its beauty with his own eyes. His parents, while slightly disappointed initially, were surprisingly supportive of this decision, and allowed for Thomas to exercise more and more independence as he grew older, his mom tagging along as they traveling to nearby towns and camping out to view bird Pokemon at sunrise at nearby lakes. For Thomas, life was simple, and life was perfect.

However, like most good things, it would be doomed to eventually come to an end, and unfortunately for Thomas it would be a very dark end to the utopia he had lived in. When he was 13, his parents began to start arguing more and more often, for reasons they refused to share with Thomas when he would ask. Sure, they had occasional disagreements before, but this time the arguments were growing more and more frequent, and more and more intense. Thomas wasn't immediately effected in the conventional sense, since his parents didn't vent any of their anger on him , and they still provided for him and allowed him to expand his aesthetic horizons as he had been. But in the back of his mind, Thomas knew something was wrong, even though it was something no one would tell him. As time went on, the arguments would continue and the two parents would slowly grow more and more distant from each other, introducing discord into what had seemed to be the perfect family.Thomas would remain in the dark, not learning of the source of the issue for several years. Shortly after he turned fifteen, around the time that he decided he wanted to become a Coordinator, Thomas' parents split up, and in the process of the divorce Thomas learned the dark truth: that Thomas' father had been having an affair for several years whenever his mother had been traveling with him. The divorce ended in a clean split of the family's resources, including the shares in Fuego Ironworks, and joint custody of Thomas. While both parents still could live comfortably off of the stocks, and Thomas' father did everything and anything he thought would help repair the damage his mistake had made, Thomas quickly grew distant, feeling that he could never forgive his father for what he did.

As the gap between Thomas and his father grew larger and larger, Thomas grew frustrated with how stagnant his life had become. Before too long, he had come to desperately want to escape and find a way to have a clean slate, away from the memories of his shattered family. Therefore, words could not hope to do justice to how happy Thomas was when he received a letter from Newfound Academy, giving him just that. Now, eager to replace painful memories with new experiences, he awaits his first day at the school, eager to see where the Winds of Beginning take him.

Extra: Thomas is particularly fond of Flying and Grass type Pokemon, though he will take interest in any Pokemon if it manages to catch his attention aesthetically. That being said, he also has an established dislike for many Bug Pokemon, and an outright fear of Beedrill, due to a run-in with one that he had as a child.

Appearance: Betraying his past as a star athlete, James is still built like one. Standing at 6 ‘2’’ and built like a truck, he has a somewhat imposing appearance. His shoulders are broad, his chest powerful and his arms chiseled from years spent in the gym and on fields and courts. In an interesting bit of contrast, instead of the raw masculinity the rest of him projects, his face is young and more on the rock-star handsome side of the spectrum. His medium length brown hair is always carefully done and his emerald green eyes shine with the fullness of a life well lived.
The only blemish on James’ otherwise flawless looks is the nasty set of scars on his left knee from the operations he had on it due to injury.

Personality: With the life he’s lived, James as a person isn’t really surprising. He’s reckless, a bit loud and quite charming. Always quick with a joke, he enjoys making people laugh and he’s incredibly gracious and generous, never hesitating to throw his money around (knowing that the supply of said money is basically bottomless). He does have a bit of a temper but setting it off is rare now due to the fact that the last couple of years have mellowed it out a bit. However, as to be expected, James has a galactic sized ego. He believes he can do no wrong.

History: From birth, James was handed everything. His father, the CEO and owner of a multi-billion dollar corporation that he had personally built from the ground up, spoiled his children (James and his older sister Amber). But even though they were spoiled, they were still instilled with positive virtues as well, the only reason that James didn’t end up as a cautionary tale.
Even at a young age, James knew that he was special. This was for two reasons. The first was that he always seemed to be the quickest thinker in the room. Even though he never cared for school and did the absolute minimum to skate by, he could still tell that he was usually the smartest person in any room. Combined with an incredible education due to his father’s influence, James learned to speak French, Italian, Russian and Japanese. In fact, the only person he would even consider to be his equal on that front was his own father. The other thing that made him special was his natural athletic ability. He was a natural at any sport, but he gravitated to football, basketball and baseball.
His athletic prowess led him to Lilycove State University at eighteen, the local football powerhouse. He was a star from the moment he stepped on campus. As a sophomore, he was a certain pro prospect and he led his school to the championship game, the promised land. They won the game on a thrilling final play score by James himself. But on said play, James shredded his left knee, tearing his ACL, MCL and meniscus in one single event. Surgery from the best doctors that money could buy brought back near-perfect function to the knee with one exception: the quick lateral movements and sudden changes in direction that had made him a star. His football career was over. But they say the winds of beginning always lead to new things, and they did for James.
At twenty, he had reached the crossroads. But he had always been stubborn and thickheaded and so he threw himself into what had once been strictly a hobby: Pokemon training. Once again, he proved a natural, his keen intellect and rapid reactions well suited to the battlefield. By twenty one, he entered the Hoenn league and finishing second, losing out on the title by the slimmest of margins. It was this loss, combined with the loss of his football career that made him realize how much he had been given. So he took the teaching offer in an attempt to give back just a little bit of all the gifts he had been given in his life.

Appearance: Ricky is very much the typical surfer in appearance. A graceful and lean build is paired with medium-long flowing blond hair and ice blue eyes. He also almost always has a pair of headphones on, either on his ears or draped around his neck, along with a Sharpedo tooth necklace.

Personality: It would be quite difficult to find anyone more easy going than Ricky Fowler. He believes very strongly in the credo known as ‘Live and let live’ in that he’s not one to judge people or worry about their actions as long as they do the same for him. He’s unflappable and always keeps his calm. Some people tend to think this is because he’s emotionless but the truth is that he’s simply in control of them. His easy going nature is paired with an infectious smile and people tend to relax just a bit around him.

History: Ricky’s childhood is nothing but unremarkable. He grew up on Cinnibar Island with his mother, father and two younger brothers. His parents run a small café on the coast and while it does well and they make a good living, it’s not like they were incredibly wealthy or anything. His parents worked hard but they still made time for their three children and the three brothers always got along well.
Ricky himself had always been an outdoors type. His favorite hobbies are surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding and he brings his boards everywhere (especially his skateboard). He ended up at the academy because he’d also always been the adventuring sort and it was a chance to travel and see something new.

Appearance: If there was one word to define Daphne’s appearance, it would be graceful. Blessed with classic beauty, high cheekbones and a flawless complexion, her light blond hair and pale grey eyes give her a bit of unexpected exotic flair. While she isn’t incredibly vain, she is careful to keep her hair and makeup prim and proper and Daphne has always had a keen fashion sense (something that is practically required from someone who is a Lumiose native). She also wears black thin-frame glasses for reading.

Personality: Daphne can come across as a bit of an ice queen, something that is no doubt due to her beauty combined with her actual quiet demeanor. Unlike what people might think, she is not the type of person who wants to be the center of attention. Instead, she is much happier curled up on a couch with a good book or somewhere quiet where she can work on her art (she is an avid artist who is best at drawing but is also a very keen painter).

History: Growing up an only child in a big city was possibly the best possible situation for Daphne. Having the noise and the crowds and the excitement of Lumiose taught her a lot and stimulated her development into a well-rounded person, but being an only child allowed her to seek out solitude, peace and quiet when she wished for it.
Her mother and father were both hard workers who travelled a lot for their jobs, but the pair planned it so at least one of them was always home, and both were always home for holidays. Even though it was sometimes hard, she had the keen sense that her parents only did this because they cared for each other and their daughter.
She came to the academy because she had always lived in the big city and she was curious how not living in the center of a major metropolis would be like.

Appearance: Abigail stands at 5'6, and has a small frame. She has long, wavy naturally red hair, light blue eyes, fair skin with freckles that make their appearance during the summer season. Abigail doesn't wear much make-up but when the occasion rises, she will wear mascara, a small amount of eyeliner, a light dusting of blush on her cheeks and lip gloss. She always dresses modest and likes to embrace her natural beauty. The staples of her wardrobe are colors that compliment her skin, eyes and hair. Navy blue, gold, yellows, and other colors. She tries to dress classy yet comfortable. Her favorite outfit is a white colored shirt with a navy jacket over it, dark denim skinny jeans and brown flats. She has some gold bangles on her left wrist, and simple diamond earrings. Her most treasured possession is a necklace with her father's wedding ring on it.

Personality: Neither outgoing nor shy, Abby is a rather interesting child. She is very family oriented as she loves spending time with her father, and loves speaking with her brother. She is naive at times and rather curious about things she is unaware of. Even though her father is headmaster, she is a natural goody-two-shoes and doesn't like to be in situations where she could get in trouble. She is socially awkward in a sense due to how she was raised as a child. She isn't exactly confident in herself, but has been trying to get better about it. She doesn't have many friends, but her best friend is Blazil Solaire. She sees Blazil almost like a sister, and would do anything for her.

History: Abigail was born in Olivine City, but since she was orphaned, she was tossed around Johto in many foster homes. When she turned eight, she was adopted by a man named Scholar Aqil and his wife, Zahara Aqil. She felt like she finally had a family, and she grew to love the Pokemon her parents had. She also was staying with an older 'cousin' named Sphisco. However, Abby considers him a brother and will address him as such. Life seemed great until she turned twelve, and Zahara passed away due to an illness. This crushed her, and for a while, she wasn't the same. A year later, her father became headmaster of Newfound. Slowly, as time has went on, she's trying to recover the parts of her that faded after her mother's death. The summer before her sixteenth birthday, while Phoenix and Scholar were catching up, she met Phoenix's niece, Blazil. That's when the two became the best of friends, and even sees the girl as a sister. When she turned sixteen, she was enrolled in Newfound Academy. Much to her surprise, Blazil would also be attending. She felt happy that she would know at least one student.

Appearance: Dia stands at a nice 5'10 with a slim but fit body. Besides his unique topaz-colored eyes catching attention everywhere he goes, so does his unusual hair, black and spiked back from his head with the bottom of it fitting into a long ponytail going down his entire back. Several bangs also hang in front of his face, one of them being occasionally brushed aside from block his vision. For attire, Dia usually wears a long black coat with high collars, fit perfectly on his body. While its open, a nice gray dress shirt with a striped tie can normally be seen but is changed on certain days for different colors. Matching with pressed black slacks and shoes, Dia always tries to dress proper and professional for any occasion.

Personality: Diarmuid's personality can almost be determined from a general look over his appearance. Commonly seen with the smooth attitude and cocky smile, Dia holds the utmost confidence in himself and his potential. While this can be translated as to being cocky, Dia simply believes in expressing himself outwardly. He doesn't believe in being fearful of things, usually jumping out at chances when they are given and also trying to prove himself. Because of this, he has adopted a good work ethic of trying to learn as much as he can and then solving problems to the maximum effectiveness. With others, he tries to let himself work with other people's personalities as best as he can. However, when his beliefs or efforts in something are insulted, he does hesitate in once again expressing himself in a very tough manner. A common problem he seems to have is underestimating others, as he lacks the means to put himself in someone else's position.

History: Diarmuid spent his early life ready to enter the Opelucid Academy in his hometown, a prestigious academy where students were handpicked by the President and resident Gym Leader, Drayden. Hailing from a family of Opelucid Academy graduates, Dia was expected to live up to the expectations of his family. However, his dreams were crushed when Drayden did not pick him to enroll, setting him back for reasons he would never know. After being set back quite a bit, already turning 16, Dia was invited to visit his distant cousins in Blackthorn City, Johto. While there, he adapted to the different lifestyle of the region, eventually deciding to stay there past his original plans. Living there, Diarmuid was then invited to Newfound Academy as he turned 17. Remembering his failure at being accepted into Opelucid, he leaped at the chance to prove his family there was still hope for him despite not following the same route they all did.

Appearance: Richard stands at around 5'8" with a slim frame and medium length brown hair. His hair is usually messy, as he prefers it that way, never bothering to alter or style it. His clothing is casual, usually sticking with a simple T-shirt with a yellow short-sleeved jacket with black stripes on the sleeves and simple jeans. The jacket appears to be a uniform of sorts, meant to be buttoned up, but Richard keeps it unbuttoned.

Personality: Richard is rather laid-back and carefree, preferring to live in the here-and-now rather than focus on the future. He is outgoing and sociable, always looking to meet new people and make new friends. However, despite his willingness to make new friends, his spontaneous nature sometimes causes him to blurt out his opinions without thinking of how others will feel. He may crack a joke or just make a statement that may inadvertently offend people. He is always quick to apologize though, most of the time realizing his mistakes. On the outside, he may appear to be arrogant, but he is kind and friendly to the people he knows.

Richard is very disorganized and a poor planner. He has no daily routine, playing each day by ear and adapting to situations as they arise. Often times, he'll forget an assignment or date, only to frantically remember and quickly bolt out the door, hoping to salvage the situation. Some have described him as hyper because of this, though most of the time Richard can be found lazily enjoying himself and shirking off his work, as usual. His desire for leisure time and enjoyment often out-weighs his sense of responsibility and duty.

Richard shows great promise as a coordinator, quickly developing strong bonds with the pokemon under his care. If he could move past his carefree and lazy nature, he could become an amazing coordinator in his own right. In a cruel twist, Richard is the only one holding himself back, and he doesn't even realize it.

History: Richard grew up in Hoenn with his divorced mother, who worked as a coordinator. Richard always admired his mother's profession, taking interest in the contests and watching the Pokemon show off for the judges. While mother was busy participating, Richard would be left at home to fend for himself, leading him to become largely independent. His mother tried her best to give Richard a normal life, and although Richard never admitted it, he greatly missed his father. Part of Richard respected his mother, both for her care and her profession; another part of him resented the fact that she gave up on her marriage, separating their family. He never makes these feelings known to others though, keeping them to himself.

Growing up, Richard had an uncanny affinity for Pokemon. Even with his mother's team, he displayed the ability to bond with and befriend them quickly. When he was only 13, his mother, seeing his admiration for contests and his friendship with her pokemon, allowed Richard to enter a contest of his own with one of her own pokemon. Though he didn't place, for a beginner with very little formal training and no pokemon of his own, he did remarkably well. He continued entering contests with his mother's pokemon over the years, becoming more skilled and showing great promise. It was at age 16 he received an invitation in the mail, for an academy in Johto that could help him hone his skills. Richard eagerly accepted, packing his bags and heading for Johto, feeling carried by the winds of beginning.

Appearance: Lulu has very bright red hair with the tips dyed black. She never wears it down- always in a ponytail or pigtails, or a braid. She has a lot of freckles that seem to match her hair color but stand out in contrast to her complexion. She's very short. Petite would be a good word. Her preferred attire is a brightly colored t-shirt and a pair of jeans. She wears her tennis shoes everywhere. They are bright red. She enjoys makeup or getting her hair done, but she believes that prettying herself up is a social event and always wants friends over so they can do each other's nails and stuff like that.

Personality: Lulu is a chronically happy and bouncy person. Most of the time, she has a lot of caffeine and sugar in her system. Coffee and chocolate are her two favorite things. When she has a sugar crash, she becomes a rather lazy and mean person. She sees rules as more like guidelines that are generally to be followed, but can be tossed out the window in the name of fun. She's a very social creature and likes to surround herself with friends. She gets desperately lonely otherwise.

History: Lulu was born and raised in Laverre, where the Pokémon type that everyone focused on was Fairy. Lulu preferred Electric Pokémon and was seen as a 'wild child'. She had an older sister named Isabel who was their parents' favorite, and who bullied Lulu on occasion. Because Lulu came later and was harder to raise thanks to her rambunctious nature, she was generally blamed for everything, even things that couldn't have been her fault. Her parents' criticism of her was very hurtful and left lasting scars, and she jumped at the chance to leave them behind and go to Newfound.
