Frank Miller's work is practically a license to print money in Hollywood. After the success of Sin City and 300 (both Frank Miller creations), Warner Bros. has optioned his original work "Ronin" for a film.

Original source.

Wikipedia's Ronin page.

Franky...I'm not too impressed by the plot summation IGN gives, but...we'll see.

Ironically, how many people do you know that aren't that interested in comic books that actually know those movies are based on comics?

I didn't even know Sin City was a comic book till after its release >_>

Really, beyond the obvious movies (Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, etc.) people are really shocked when they learn what moves were originally graphic novels or comics. Road to Perdition (few seem to be aware of that fact), A History of Violence, V for Violence (less V, because it IS a tad "comic"al), Men in Black (another sorta one), From Hell (originally written by Alan Moore, I believe), and others that I'm sure even I'M unaware of (though I've seen a million "top 100" lists, so I doubt there are many).

Honestly, I'd been hearing about how good Sin City was (the original series/graphic novel, I forget which it was) for years before they even started making the movie. But I've still not even seen a copy of the collection in person. Or seen the movie (just...haven't).

And sometimes it's in a movie's benefit to NOT be associated with comics. Too many people don't realize the amount of depth that a comic-based story can actually have, and so they have that campy 60s Batman stigma attached to them. Frankly, I'm for whatever helps these movies make money, since they're largely (not always...no movie genre is an always) based around good ideas. And whatever gets more publicity for comics is a plus in my book.

I wouldn't even count Men in Black, seeing as how the comic and the movie really don't have anything to do with eachother.
