Next two Mega Pokémon announced for Pokémon UNITE — Mega Gyarados joins the fray on December 5, while Mega Charizard Y debuts on December 19

The next Mega Evolution Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE have been revealed: Mega Gyarados will be available in-game next week from Friday, December 5th, while Mega Charizard Y will be available from Friday, December 19th. Both will be separate licenses than Gyarados and Charizard's regular unite licenses, which were added to the game on January 25th, 2024, and July 21st, 2021, respectively.

Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution first debuted in Pokémon UNITE with the addition of Mewtwo capable of Mega Evolving into Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y on July 21st and August 17th, 2023. In September of this year, it was announced that Mega Evolution Pokémon would now be considered separate licenses to the regular forms, allowing both the regular Pokémon and Mega Evolved Pokémon to be used on the same team. These now have their Mega Stone set as a held item, and are limited to only one moveset. These Pokémon undergo Mega Evolution for a short time after using their Unite Move.
In September, it was also announced that four Mega Evolution Pokémon would be joining the fray by the end of this year, with Mega Lucario debuting on September 28th, and Mega Charizard X on October 24th. Mega Gyarados and Mega Charizard Y will be the third and fourth Pokémon joining this year.
