Nick Fury. THE comic book spy. Is set to appear in the Iron Man movie. Playing him will be none other than...Samuel L. Jackson. I still think Hasselhoff did a good job.

So, this is like Ultimate Nick Fury in normal Iron Man? That's kinda weird.

Edit: Actually, just remembered. This is a Marvel movie, after all, so they can pretty much do anything they want except kill the hero.

Well, at least Samuel L. Jackson's a good actor, and they didn't hire some crappy unknown. :p

Sam L.'s said he wanted to play Nick Fury in any upcoming movie since the Ultimates gave Fury his makeover in the first place. He loved it. And so did I. And I will love this.

So awesome. I hope they get both Downey and Jackson together again down the line for The Avengers movie too - I'd love for this to be the set up for that.

I used to like and respect Samuel L. Jackson, but his latest slew of movies all seem like he agreed to do them while drunk. The man's got talent, but...he'll have a high mark to meet to even come close to Hasselhoff.

I just wonder if this means he's a lock for the role in the Nick Fury movie that's...somewhere in production (limbo...hell...one of the two, I believe).

As for being in the Avengers movie...just...no. Fury in the Ultimate universe seems a little too omniscient. Plus the Ultimates origin just seems a little too much like the Heroes Reborn origin for the Avengers (only Pym's an asshole, and Scarlet Witch isn't being controlled by the Enchantress).

The Hasselhoff movie was pretty cack anyway. ...And well, the Hoff's a cock anyway.

Sam. L's only ever done 3 duff movies in his entire life, Star Wars II, III and Snakes on a Plane - and he's been the only thing worth watching in all 3. So what exactly does that say about his supreme awesomeness?

Also, I don't really see what you mean by "omniscient" concerning Ultimate Fury - outside of the fact that he's actually involved in what goes on concerning SHIELD. 616 Fury just sits in his chair and barks orders most of the time these days. Hell, he's done that most days. The most active he ever was, was in the Hoff movie... and yeah... that was The Hoff...

(That should be Star Wars I, II, and Snakes on a Plane. III is the only watchable piece of the new trilogy).

He wasn't in I, was he? I don't remember him being in it.

Of course, I attend a daily ritual surrounded by others to try and block out every memory of the Phantom Menace from my brain anyway, so this could be why.

No, it's the fact that he seems to be involved in EVERYTHING in the Ultimate universe. Not just SHIELD, not just the Ultimates, but the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, EVERYTHING that goes on, he seems to have some hand in.

And, hey, Fury never just sat around in the mainstream universe (unless it was someone else's book). Man had some great adventures until his books stopped selling (no one buys spy books anymore). Besides, he's currently in hiding while trying to defend against a Skrull invasion (which, granted, just reminds me of the first volume of the Ultimates).

Well, there is a pretty well explained reason for that in the books, everyone in the Ultimate Universe in some way or another is more or less all connected to the various attempts at creating a new Captain America - and that all ties into The Ultimates and Fury - who's job is to enforce the laws surrounding that and/or take/use any advancements made for SHIELD's own use. Pretty much only the X-men aren't part of this, and Fury's various links to them are pretty obvious too anyways.

I don't really see it as a bad thing that everything is tied together, it adds a lot more cohesion to the universe as a whole - even if it does seem that Nick Fury is the main character in the whole world some times (though, not necessarily a bad thing - considering Ultimate Fury is just as awesome and cool as his likeness).

It should be pretty awesome to see whatever role he ends up with in the movie, I'm looking forward to it a lot.
