Does any body have any nicknaming traditions that they follow? Something that you've named a particular species and gender of pokemon in each game.

I have:

Spanky the Staryu (every game since Silver)
Gertrude the female Geodude (since silver)
Nosy Mary the female Nosepass (since Ruby)
Bruce Tree the Exeggutor (since yellow i think)
Dingdong the male Bellsprout (since yellow)
Belinda the female Bellsprout (since silver)

Sometimes I forget and then change names later, but I ALWAYS have a Staryu called Spanky.

So, anybody else have traditions?

EDIT: oh I forgot about WaterWilma the Wooper :D

Pre-GenIV, I used to name all of my Legendaries by the Japanese word for whatever aspect of nature they were supposed to represent. For instance, Articuno would be Yuki (Snow), Lugia would be Arashi (Storm), and Rayquaza would be Sora (Sky). I stopped using that scheme though, since there are some Legendaries that don't necessarily have specific connections to nature, like Deoxys, Mewtwo, and Lati@s.

Ooh, lordy, lordy.

Mabel the female Zubat (since Blue).
Molly the female Mime Jr. (since about 3 seconds ago)
Brockolli the male Sudowoodo (since a couple days ago in SoulSilver)
Sparky the Pikachu (since Blue)
BBBBBB the Pidgey/Pidgeotto/Pidgeot (since my brother's Red game. I've never actually done this, but I'd say it's worth mentioning)

And, of course, Obamasnow.

I stopped this, but when I was 3, with the first Pokemon, I couldn't read, and clicked nickname by mistake, and named my Pidgey "Nickname," so up until Diamond, in every file I had, I had Pokemon named "Nickname," but I don't think I will do it this time.

I always name any Whiscash that I get after a variant of my very first Whiscash back from Sapphire: Glitsch ( German for "slick/slippery").

Glotsch
Glutsch
Glatsch
Glitsch Jr.

Hey, they are all Glisches to me ^^

I always name My scyther/ scizor Katana if it's female Masamune if its male, my charizard Drake, my starmie Aster, and my blastoise Leonardo.

I used to call all my Pokemon my own name, so in Silver all my monsters were named BENT. My little brother seems to have adopted this habit, even though I stopped it before he was even born.

I found some wierd names when I hijacked my brothers firered to palpark like GMENA the Goldeen, which I think was supposed to be Gemma. MAEBYELL the Chansey, Mabel maybe o.o

He wasn't even that young, about 14-15 then, but he is dyslexic.

Hawk the Pidgeot.

In every single game since Red, I'd always catch a Female Pidgey and name it Hawk.

I re-use names all the time in my games though, but that one's the most prominent I can think of right now.

Boomer - Geodude
Battie - Zubat (although I spelled it Batty on Diamond).

Eh that's about it really.

Well at least one member of my party ends up having either a nickname after a celebrity or a very offensive one.

I often name them after characters from my favorite shows and artists if the gender matches the character, like Vegeta and Bardock (from DBZ) and Phaedra (drawn by Bridget Wilde).

I always base mine on Greek god's.
I use those names sometimes, like calling Zapdos 'Zeus'.

i allways name my starter something starting with a Ch
Chan, Chad, Chata, Chato, Chet, and i'm gonna name my brand new smugleaf when black comes around, Cho

with others, if i can't think of a name, i'll just reference whatever videogame i'm playing at the moment
borderlands seems to be what i'm going with now, i've got 4 borderlands named pokemon so far

oh, and Vulpix are all named after an internet browser

-Whether I use it or not, the first Marill I catch in a game will be named Monsoon. It started in Silver and Monsoon the Azumarill was an integral member of my Ruby team and is now on my Platinum.

-When I choose a fire starter I always name it Walt. No idea why but it too started way back in Silver.

-I usually name my early bird pokemon( wingull, starly, etc...) human names like Jeff and Mike.

Legendaries-Magicarp (since Diamond)
Magicarp-Magicrap (since Diamond)
Totodile-Dile (since HeartGold)
Mudkip-MUDKIPZ! (since HeartGold)
