The two TV series will premiere in early 2009 and are “designed to play off the big-screen popularity of the Marvel comic-book characters.” The article also mentions the new Speed Racer cartoon coming to Nicktoons this May and the Clone Wars cartoon coming to the Cartoon Network and TNT later this year.

And, apparently, Iron Man will be "brought closer to the viewers' age." Will we ever learn from history? Spider-Man as a teen, makes sense. Iron Man as a teen? Just plain idiotic. Wasn't the whole reason behind Spider-Man not having mechanical web-shooters in the movies that it was unbelievable for a teenager to have created them? So a teenager creating web-shooters, unbelievable. A teenager creating an entire suit of super-advanced armor...believable? I have a BAD feeling about the Iron Man series.

Ugh. Me too. LX no like bad medicine. Well, look at it this way...if they deakl with Tony's alcoholism they can make it "A very special Iron Man" ep.

Maybe when they are saying they're "bringing Iron Man down to the viewer's age" they may be only talking about the content of the story, may not the character's age.

But I find it interesting that Nickelodeon decided to do this. I remember how a long time ago they had many shows based on comics, movies, video games, etc. on their station. It would be great to see Nickelodeon go back to the way it was. Now if they could only bring back Legends of the Hidden Temple...

This isn't Nickelodeon, it's the Nicktoons channel (they still play Legends of the Hidden Temple on their "sports" network).

And the exact age quote:

and they’re bringing an Iron Man “closer in age to the network’s young viewers” along for the ride.

Iron Babies, we make our dreams come true . . .

Even the people who made The Batman had the sense to keep Bruce Wayne in his mid to late twenties. Hopefully, that's what they mean about bringing him closer to the viewer age. Tony Stark under twenty-one just doesn't work.

Did you read that article, about the Teen Iron Man comic he stole the suit , he didn't created it.
Wait for it to air before judging it. I heard that Iron Man series will be animated in French. I believe that the article may be wrong.

I am waiting for it to air before judging the series. However, I'm pointing out the LAST time there was a teenage Tony Stark running around. He lasted MAYBE a year before COMPLETELY disappearing (well...he didn't disappear, but it's so freaking complicated and involves three different Tonys being merged). And, trust me, if they have a teen Tony Stark, he WON'T be stealing his armor. Maybe borrowing, but not stealing. So either we have a super-genius kid or, essentially, Batman in armor.

Who do you think runs Nicktoons Network?

BTW, the "sports" network, Nick GAS, doesn't exist anymore.

I was clarifying the channel it was going to air on in case you were thinking they were going to BE Nicktoons (you had a general "Nickelodeon" reference in your post, leading me to assume you were referring to the channel, not the overall entity). Had NO clue about GAS not existing anymore.

i'm picking up a mighty 'vengers type thing here

but what child wouldn't like to watch a tv show about a billionaire womanizing drunk who goes out in what basically is a pacemaker with guns strapped to it and beats up old chinesse men and dragons with a little beating up some clones on the side

I read two threads in a row meant for comic related talk and both had Muppet Babies references. Apparently a thread should be made for it. And if it already exists I need sent there. X)

Does that mean they're based off the movies or just being made because the movies' popularity? If it's the latter isn't that why X-Men Evo and MTV Spidey were made (I might be wrong, going by what I heard)?

You're just so positive about everything. Like a ray of sunshine.

Yeah, it's all the same reason. Evolution kind of ran its course and the MTV Spidey series just wasn't successful. So, now they're trying again with a different format. I'll be genuinely shocked if Wolverine and the X-Men isn't successful considering the success of X-Men: The Animated Series and Evolution.

I think it's they chose a channel not many people get. I don't think Nicktoons is a standard channel.

I've got about three/four MTV Spidey DVDs, three/four 90s Spidey DVDs, the entire 90s X-Men, and the first three Evo seasons. I don't know if a season four set is out for Evo yet. Anyways, I like the cartoons so I'll definitely watch when the new ones come on.

It certainly isn't here, which is why it shocked me that they'd put them on there.

I hate when I notice a mistake in my posts after they've been quoted. But as long as what I was attempt to say is understood I guess it's not so bad. XD

Anyways, apart from MTV (and various other channels if you include reruns) wasn't the 90s X-Men, 90s Spidey, X-Men Evo, and a few other Spidey cartoons all on Fox? At least I think they were; it's been awhile since I've seen any of them played on TV, let alone with new eps. I don't get why they wouldn't just continued that if it is the case.

Or at least show them on Nickelodeon. It's more standard than Nicktoons.

Yeah, Evolution was on WB, but the rest were all on Fox. Along with the short-lived Spider-Man Unlimited, Silver Surfer, and Avengers cartoons (seems like I'm forgetting one...). Don't know why they don't go back to Fox (though I assume they have a reason).

there was
spiderman
Xmen
the avengers (minus iron man cap and thor (WHAT?))
marvel action hour (iron man/ fantastic four with intros from stan lee)
iron man solo
FF
silver surfer
hulk
spiderman unlimited(that was really terrible)
