...I don't know much about the show, but doesn't creating Gravity Falls count as experience in the mystery genre?

As a huge fan of the show, I suppose it wouldn't quite fall into the traditional "Whodunit?" vein of detective stories, but it certainly has a very prominent mystery element which I thought they managed very well. At least in terms of the main arc mystery - the smaller episodic mysteries are used more as a vehicle for character development.
 
I loved Gravity Falls when I used to watch it. I remember I got tired of trying to keep up with the random breaks between new episodes and lost interest in it though, which is a shame. I know I saw the majority of the first season at the least and the humour is great.

This news is making me interested for the end result with this film.

I did the same, but picked the show back up around the time of The Author's big reveal. The show ended earlier this year, so you should definitely finish it. Gravity Falls is one of the best tv shows I've ever watched.

Anyways, if this news is true, the movie's in pretty good hands.

... wait for real? This is the first thing that's gotten me legitimately excited for this movie. These are both amazing writers, both in suspense and comedy.
