Nintendo announces Pokémon Farm Channel: Wii Ware to help players raise Pokémon

Nintendo announced yesterday at its fall 2007 conference the upcoming release of the Pokémon Farm Channel (ポケモン牧場チャンネル), which will be available to download on Wiis using Wii Points. Details are unknown, but players will be able to transfer Pokémon from Diamond and Pearl to the service and raise their Pokémon on their Wiis. The game is being developed by Ambrella.

I wonder what the storage capabilities are... It'd be nice if this would be the Wii's answer to Pokemon Box. :) I'm running out of room on Diamond, lol.

This seems intereasting. I wonder if you have a shiny pokemon, will it look shiny on the game? I wonder how Renji would look.

Here's a video

Personally, I hope it's slightly deeper than shown. (What I mean, is that you can place objects in the farm for the pokemon to interact with. Like you can build a lake for water pokemon, Trees for bugs to hide in, or toys to play with, for example. Also pet sim elements of cleaning, and even maybe breeding would be nice)

Ambrella's involvement explains everything really...

Hopefully it'll still have some use and will also function as a sequel to Pokemon Box, 'cos the 'farm/ranch' bit is rubbish. Half the Pokemon don't even look anything like the actual Pokemon. They'd have been better off using sprites, imo.

Well, they are like Mii versions of Pokemon. I like it because it looks like it'll keep the size down to an N64 game level. Who knows how big the Crystal Chronicals game will be (It looks fantastic, but has got to take up a huge chunk of the flash drive)

Meh. I really wish Nintendo wouldn't greenlit just any Pokemon production nowadays.

I wish Nintendo had bothered to put a decent bloody hard drive onto the Wii - then size wouldn't be an issue.

Wish people would stop calling it Pokémon Farm Channel. Yes I know Bokujou can be both Farm & Ranch, but Ranch fits into the game a lot more than Farm as its not a Farm that they're in...its a Ranch...you can tell by the damned Cowboy style get up on the Mii's lol. Ranch fits so much better with the whole thing

You seem particularly vituperative this morning, Joe. xD Who put sand in your skivvies? :p

The game probably will cost like roughly 10$, and I kinda like the spin on the Pokemon. :)

Seaking swiming on land? It would be nicer if they had water areas aswell.

I would have just prefered it as an actual storage system that gives me prizes for using it like Pokemon box.

I'm just afraid that we would actually have to walk up to the pokemon to take it out. That would be a pain.

Nobody...it just annoys me and its not the first time either :p and it was actually IGN's fault last time too...

By the way, I haven't seen any official statement that says anything about raising Pokémon.

Well I guess that depends on your definition of the word raise

Serebii, how do you have times to post on forums? I mean you have the #1 Pokemon site int he world, a part-time job, and you go to university. Aren't you just a little short on time?

I multi-task. Plus the site work isnt that much in each day to be fair

I can't wait to see Garchomp on this. I don't know why people complain about the bad sprites when good sprites would look weird standing next to your Miis. Too bad they couldn't use the better graphics and use the PBR custom sprites though.
