Nintendo games return to RTA in Japan Winter 2025 from December 25th to 31st benefiting Doctors Without Borders; two Pokémon games to be featured

RTA in Japan Winter 2025 is set to go live from December 25th to December 31st. Following the incident affecting the summer edition of the event earlier this year, games published by Nintendo will officially return to the schedule with this marathon, including Pokémon Puzzle Challenge and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet. Like most RTA in Japan events, it will feature a mixture of remote and on-location events, and benefit Doctors Without Borders. The live portion of the event will be taking place out of Bellesalle Iidabashi First in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.

Created as a Japanese equivalent of the Games Done Quick marathons, RTA in Japan has ascended to become one of the most notable charity speedrunning events in the community. RTA in Japan has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity since its creation in 2017. The Winter 2025 event can be watched from its official website or its Twitch channel. A re-stream with English commentary will be provided by the community and can be watched here. Their channel also plays host to events that wish to use their channel to reach a wider audience. The next such event is The Horror RTA Show, scheduled to begin on January 31st, 2026.
