Nintendo officially announces Pokémon Platinum: Third Generation IV game to be released this fall

Pokémon Platinum was revealed in leaked pictures of both CoroCoro and Famitsu magazines earlier this week, but today Nintendo officially announced the game's fall release.

I think I speak for the entire community when I let out a big, smelly:

FINALLY

Nintendo, Nintendo, Nintendo. It seems as if it still hasn't reached the minds of the people on Bulbagarden, that the Pokémon Games (in Japan, at the very least) are co-published by Nintendo AND The Pokémon Company. As the announcement was done on www.Pokemon.co.jp instead of www.Nintendo.co.jp, why would one write "Nintendo has announced [...]"?!

Please give me insight to your strange conceptions of who makes what announcement and who doesn't.

I fear if I just change the news article, people will hate me, so I am trying to start a discussion and hope that I won't be ignored.

Thank goodness for this news and I can't wait for Pokemon Platinum!

I really don't think anyone would/could hate you if you just change it to "Pokemon Platinum Officially Announced" or something to that effect.

Anyway, anyone wanna take bets on how long it takes to get to Australia/Europe?

If it's out here within a year of it being released in Japan I'd be surprised. Maybe it wont suffer Emerald syndrome and be pushed back right to the end of the year though... maybe.

I'd say the American game'll be ripe for importing by about Easter though, so no big deal. I'll probably just leave it for the English version, doesn't really seem to be much point in playing through a game twice that's already at it's core playing through Diamond and Pearl again with a few tweaks.

You really need to calm down. Yes, you are correct about The Pokémon Company. You are allowed to change the article. I have a feeling that when you say, "people will hate me," you are talking about me. Well, if you are going to change the article to make it more accurate, PLEASE DO. Don't just raise a stink about it. If you're in the right, then who cares if other people whine about a change?

The reason the headline is "Nintendo (or whatever company) officially announces Pokémon Platinum" and not "Pokémon Platinum officially announced" is because the first is active and the second is passive. Active phrases are much more lively and always preferred in journalism. But it's not such a big deal here. I just wanted to put that out there in case someone changes the headline.

Those of you who feel experienced enough with the Bulbanews system, you are encouraged to help out. If you see something inaccurate, then please correct it. I am not always around to correct things. In fact, I expect to be away on vacation for most of next week, so you guys will probably be on your own for a few days.

EDIT: I changed the headline.

I hope this game can interact with Battle Revolution. If no, then they better make a Battle Revolution 2 to pick up the slack!

Maybe it's just a pipe dream, but I hope that Game Freak significantly improved the control system to take more advantage of the touch screen. To me, as much as I love playing Diamond, it seems as if the touch-screen aspects were just grafted on without any real thought - should there even be a need to use GBA-style menus when there's that lovely touch screen just begging to be exploited?

Mark, getting down off his soapbox and putting it back in storage

hopefully this will have arceus or deoxys or one of the event only pokemon. i include celibi and jirachi but not hooh and lugia. managed too trade them too fire red!

Yay!!!!

I hope we can go to Johto.

That would mean a lot of things about a GSC remake are false, plus Sinnoh is a long way away from Johto if their real world equivalents are anything to go by.

A region based on Sakhalin or a part of northern Tohoku would be more likely. Then again on all maps of Sinnoh Ive seen there is no coast to the south west and in Hokkaido there is a piece of land sprouting from that point.

Hopefully Shaymin will be available in Platinum without the need for Nintendo sponsored events.

I wonder how Giratina's and Shaymin's different forms are different, apart from appearance.

HUZZAH! Finally, I don't have to keep putting off going to Turnback Cave to get a Giratina -- which I REALLY want!

Hah. Can't blame you for putting it off - trying to catch Giratina was a pain. Just as well my wife doesn't have a problem with curse words (though I think I startled her a few times with my sudden epithets!). Still, I got there in the end - and probably just before the wife Scotch-taped my mouth shut :D
