This is terrible! Man, I hope they get their money back!

Re: Nintendo shares fall following Wii U announcement: Wii U announcement blamed for

Dang. Nintendo's been so good to us. I hope they can shrug this off.

Re: Nintendo shares fall following Wii U announcement: Wii U announcement blamed for

people would love the wii U when they got All The Good Games

What? 5 year low?!

WHAT IS THIS MONSTROSITY?!?!?!?!

Re: Nintendo shares fall following Wii U announcement: Wii U announcement blamed for

I'm pretty surprised. Just in context Microsoft and Sony's shares went down, too, but not as much as Nintendo's.

Vague announcement. Investors and consumers thought this would be full of info, but we got nothing that wasn't leaked, only pics. Not even new games, and the fact that the third party footage wasn't even from the new console. All they did was use 360, PS3, and PC footage.

As for the bird demo, anyone can show off a tech demo which looks better then a real game:

The 360 GPU.

If I remember correctly, I also read that Nintendo's stock went down a bit after the Wii Remote was unveiled. The problem with Nintendo's products, is it's hard to tell people about it - it has to be experienced xD

Don't worry about it Nintendo. You'll bounce back.

I loved the announcement. My brain nearly exploded from all of the information.lol

Maybe I'll go out and buy a couple of stocks. I'd love to own a little piece of Nintendo. ;-p

Well, their presentation was confusing to say the least, not to mention that, while the controller was the main focus, we know nothing else about the system's capabilities other than it being HD. Honestly, if they want me to buy a WiiU without showing me games, then they have to do better than showing tech demos of the WiiU controller. The 3DS didn't impress me with its 3D and analog nub. It was all the other stuff it had to offer. I'd think they'd have gotten their point across better if they used an actual game as an example as to what that second screen can be used for.

Perhaps as the year unfolds, we'll be more impressed.

The Zelda HD demo is real time (and interactive to boot) and looks better than the bird demo.

I feel like I'm one of the only ones who wasn't confused about the product.

And this is speaking from the fact I didn't get to watch the E3 in perfect quality. The video and audio would just stop.

And I wasn't confused one bit. They told us what the Wii U is capable of. So this shares fall, is rather mind boggling. Especially with the developers that said the Wii U opens a whole lot of possibilities.

I was kind of surprised when I heard that people were confused too. I thought the fact that they kept starting every sentence with "the new controller can" clarified that they were talking about a controller. :/

I think this fall will cause Nintendo to release more information really soon. I can't wait to hear the specs.

To be fair, I haven't been buying video games as much as I have in the past. I just started back buying with my purchase of Pokemon White Version Nintendo's are the only one's I buy. But, I really think Nintendo should commit a bit more to releasing there games earlier.

Paper Mario 3DS being one, I'm still waiting for.

Wii Motion Plus sounds like a console too (or at least, Wii Motion). The fact they kept calling it the WiiU Controller made it ambiguous as to whether it was the controller to a system known as the WiiU, or whether the controller was called the WiiU. It's not as if they used a possessive calling it the WiiU's controller, which would have alleviated any ambiguity, or even a five second shot of the WiiU with its controller, which would not have taken away the controller's focus.

So yeah, so many simple ways to handle it, but they failed at it.

I'm not seeing the confusion. They specifically said that the console itself was called the Wii U, in the beginning. I mean you can't call something a Wii U and then bring out something they refer to as "the controller" and conclude that the controller itself is called the "Wii U" because why call it a Controller in that case? Why not call it the Wii U if the name Wii U specifically referred to the controller.

Sure maybe if the audio was off, one would think the controller was the actual system. But I can't see how one would come to that conclusion if they had audio.

Because since when is a HOME console referred to as a controller. A controller has always referred to the necessary input accessory to a game system. It has never been referred to as the console itself.

This is the only console Nintendo's made since the Super Famicom that's kept an aspect of it's name across an iteration.

Re: Nintendo shares fall following Wii U announcement: Wii U announcement blamed for

First off, just knowing that Nintendo explicitly weeks before the show, and during the show itself, said that they were revealing a new CONSOLE made it clear what Wii U was going to be, not to mention that the Wii U console beside the TV was obviously to me larger and differently shaped from a Wii, and was displayed horizontally, unlike the Wii which is always displayed vertically.

Plus, Reggie stated clearly "This is the controller for Wii U" and then showed the controller. He didn't say "This is Wii U" as though to suggest in any way that the controller was the product itself.

I'm really baffled by even how many people at the Nintendo World store where many dozens of fans gathered to watch the presentation were confused thinking it was just a new controller for Wii, its not like Nintendo didn't already say they were showing A NEW CONSOLE today.

Plus, how could a new controller for Wii magically cause the console to have graphics comparable to the PlayStation 3?

Re: Nintendo shares fall following Wii U announcement: Wii U announcement blamed for

Honestly, I thought Nintendo was so badass the controller was the console.

After motion controls and the Wii, the DS, and 3DS, I honestly thought the actual system would be more impressive than what it actually is (visually anyway)
