Hey everyone! Since I live in New York City and happen to be the only person who likes Pokemon within a 50 mile radius, I'm thinking about keeping you all up to date with, what the store is carrying or some special promotional info. I know there are a lot of people who come to the city looking to go to Pokemon Center Nintendo World Store and are usually disappointed. I stopped in yesterday to pick up some Pokemon Figures Mew, Mime JR. and Altaria.

They have gone from $4.95 to $4.99 for no apparent reason:eek: . I hope they don't jack the prices anymore on the site. I miss the good ol' days when they had wall to wall figures and they only cost $3.95 plus if you bought four figures, you'd get a free one! Oh well.

My friend blessed me with two of the most rare Pokemon Figures ever!!!

Jynx and Elekid. They are rare because they were actually banned from being distributed in the US. Elekid looks like a plug. Jynx was banned because she resembled someone in "BlackFace" and they linked her icy kisses to SARS. I'm curious to know what Pokemon Figure will be banned in the Diamond and Pearl Generation...

P.S.
I played Pokemon Ranger there and named the female trainer "EDDiE" lol. Just in case anyone wanted to know who did it ;-)

Wow, they banned the Elekid because of that... That's almost as stupid as Nintendo not making more Pokemon Centers in the US and Europe. Honestly, America != New York. Not even by a sample of opinions. There were lots of other places where the PC would have still been doing well.

I'm glad I have been to the Pokémon Center twice before it was closed and reopened as the Nintendo Store. But now I'd like to go there once more to see myself how it has changed.

Also, do they still sell the Natu Pokédolls? I'd be glad if I could find someone who could get one or two for me and send it to me. The prices at eBay are insane and the the pokemoncenter.com shop only ships within the continental USA or so. :(
Back when I visited New York I got stuff for friends in Germany too.

You're lucky to live so close by! I went there when it was still Pokemon Center, and haven't been back since. It's too bad they had to change it to Nintendo World... but I guess that's better than it shutting down completely.

...They really banned Elekid because of that? Sheesh!

Since I live so close that a quick bus/train ride gets me to Rockefeller Center in less than 90 minutes, I've been there on a number of occasions including the day it opened (when the Mysticticket was given for FR, LG and Emerald)

Much of the first floor is still Pokémon, merchandise-wise. The other stuff is kept mostly to the second floor. The figures are still there albeit on a lesser scale, but I can't remember if the plushies stayed (I haven't gone since last summer, when I got tickets to see the show "Chain Reaction" and left after being abused by their staff....long story) They even have GameCube stations to play Colosseum/XD, and surely they'll add a Wii for Battle Revolution and DP to the DS stations when they're released.

I buy most of my stuff from the website though. I have the Legendary Collection of Hoenn figures in addition to Sudowoodo, Gardevoir, Lucario, Blaziken, Munchlax, Roselia, Salamence, Jumbo Salamence and Jumbo Lugia. My plushie collection is Metagross, Munchlax, Mime Jr., Minun, Lugia, Bonsly, Lucario and a Treecko pillow.

I think Journey Across America proves you wrong.

Aw, hell yeah! I hit the NY one and it was great!...even though I got screwed.

I've participated in three Pokémon tourneys across each generation, including JAA. In the first (with Yellow), I lost in the second round to a Thunderbolt Persian because my team was half-Flying and its Slash scored a critical hit on my (STUPIDLY USED) Surfing Pikachu. I had used the Missingno Glitch to get hundreds of Rare Candies for leveling them up, so I kinda had it coming anyway.

In the second generation, I lost because my team was only in the mid-high 70's. Got crushed by a 100 Snorlax in round 2 after an equally-weak opponent in round 1 that even used Celebi and couldn't win.

Now by JAA, I had actually learned the ropes and I was ready. I stacked my team up with all my best Pokémon: Mewtwo (nicknamed XD150 as a play on "XD001" being the Ultimate Shadow Pokémon), Kyogre, Groudon, Ho-oh, Salamence and Dusclops.

First, while in line my buddy whom you guys might know as TheGreatBonsly here and I won a tag battle against an older man and his son. They were pretty good, but our dual-Dusclops attack worked pretty well and got us a victory.

After some merchandise-buying and a lunch at the mall's Burger King, we went back for the tourney. Round one.....believe it or not, The Great Butler vs. TheGreatBonsly. I won because I had knowledge of his team thanks to the tag battle and the fact that I helped him make it. Not to take from his skill, he's good and has got a WICKED Umbreon, but I just did better.

Round two: A kid with a Wobbuffet, the thing I had feared more than anything. I brought Dusclops out as one of my first two, hoping he'd go right for Wobba, leaving it open to a Toxic/Confuse Ray/Seismic Toss barrage (Seismic Toss cannot be Countered onto a Dusclops) Needless to say he didn't do as I predicted, leaving Wobba until last. Thankfully I had Groudon out, so I used three Sword Dances while he watched helplessly, then 1KO'd him with Body Slam.

Round three: A really loud and intimidating guy probably in his mid-20s that I had pegged as the one I didn't want to face from the beginning. I was REALLY nervous going into this one. As far as his team, I don't really remember it, but he was pretty stacked with Legendaries too. A long and hard battle...and I somehow managed to win. No rhyme or reason to it, I outbattled him. After this, I discovered that GreatBonsly's brother, also in the tourney, lost to a rather cold looking kid...

Semifinals: ...who I had to face next. Poker face doesn't even start to describe him, he was DEAD emotionless. Again, it was close, but when it came down to his Kyogre versus XD150, the fact that I deleted Thunderbolt from him suddenly came back and bit me in the rear end. I lost.

For my efforts I won the aforementioned Treecko pillow, the PUSA Emerald Player's Guide, a 3rd Place medal, a certificate and the CD of "Pokémon Go!" I left immediately after collecting my winnings as I was rather shaken by the fact the lack of ONE move cost me the chance to meet Hulk Hogan...

...which ALSO came back to bite me in the rear. A few days later I talked to GreatBonsly, who stayed after I left. Turns out Mr. Poker Face won the whole thing. Then he busted out AND GOT CAUGHT WITH A SHARKED GAME. Had I stayed, I could've argued for a redo of the final minus Sharkface and plus me, but that wasn't how it played out. I wrote a letter to PUSA expressing my frustration, and they actually sent me back a (handwritten) reply apologizing that I lost to a cheater who should've been caught long before facing me attached to a package containing the Blaziken and Munchlax action figures, the appropriate Semifinalist medal I deserved, and an old copy of Pokémon Fan. I gave the 3rd Place medal to GreatBonsly's brother since he shouldn't have faced Sharkface either.

Wait...what did any of that drivel have to do with the subject?
