It's on the eShop now. Should I get it? I have just enough money on my e-Shop account to get it, but hesitating...
My main issues:
1. I heard part of the game forces you to use the AR cards. Is this true? I'd rather not use these...
2. Can you get ALL dog breeds in any of the three versions? Keep in mind that I cannot get StreetPasses, at all.
3. I understand there is absolutely no way to keep your pets at some "hotel" thing in case you decide to stop playing for some time. I know it's dumb but I'd feel sad if my pups/cats will be sick/hungry/sad/anything negative. I really think it'd be smart of them to have a "hotel" thingy as if the player "went on vacation" and the pets are forever happy and healthy as long as they're there no matter how long you're not touching the game. But apparently there's nothing like that. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Honestly it's mostly #3 that's making me not want to get the game. Again, it's dumb, I realize they're obviously not real, yet I'd feel bad for neglecting them... Of course I do plan to play it a lot when I first get it, but I know that in a month or so, I'll probably get bored of the game... and as with every game, will inevitably reach the point of rarely touching it if ever...

Part of me furiously wants to buy it right now, yet part of me thinks I shouldn't do it... some answers/suggestions would be appreciated.

1.Nope.Only the Obedience Trial has AR cards, and it's completely optional unless you wanna go for 100 percent. You get nothing from it if you already beat the Nintendogs cup on the Lure Racing or Disc Competition.

2.Yup.They're unlocked over time.

3.There is a kind of hotel. You can keep some pets there and get others, and you can give up pets there as well.I think you can put all your pets in there, though I know you cannot if you have more than three.

Some other stuff:
On walks, when your dog picks up recyclable items, keep them. After getting playing for 34 or 35 days consecutively or 31 days not in a row,you can recycle 7 pieces of wood, leather, rubber and plastic,5 pieces of metal, and 3 things of stardust for a RoboPup Voucher, which enables you to get one RoboPup from the shelter. You have to recycle those items again once you have enough to get another Voucher for another RoboPup.

Your pets can get unfit if you feed them premium food, get no exercise,or stay at the hotel for long periods of time. You just have to play/walk with them for a bit and give them diet food and they'll be back to normal in no time!

Nintendogs was actually the first game I got for my Nintendo DS. It came with the system. I thoroughly enjoyed it at the time. The obediance trials were fun and quite difficult so it felt like something you had to really train for. Interacting with the dogs themselves is fun. The voice recognition thing got tedius after a while but you can interact with them with the stylus as well. I got bored of shouting my dogs and people around me looking at me like I was an insane woman.

All in all it's a pretty entertaining game but I guess it depends on the type of games you like. It's not exciting so much as it is charming and if you get easily bored with games you will probably lose interest in this pretty quickly. I think it heavily depends on how much of a dog lover you are in real life really.

That's great.

Are you 100% sure about that? cause from reading online, I got the impression that you HAVE to have at least 1 dog at home all the time, and the "hotel" is only for extra pets. Honestly, as dumb as it is, this is my main issue. For example, right now? I didn't really touch my 3DS for a whole week or so, not cause I didn't want to, but I was busy with other things that kept me away from it. For games like Pokémon and such that doesn't really matter, but if I'll get Nintendogs... I'd feel awful if my pets get sad/hungry/sick/anything like that. (again, I'm dumb, but I can't help it)
So if anyone here actually owns Nintendogs+Cats and can test it for me, I'd love to know for 100% sure whether it is possible to hotel all your current pets, assuming you only have up to three, and if it truly keeps them 100% happy/healthy/fed no matter how long they're there. (and yes that means I'd sadly limit myself to only 3 pets, but I'd rather that than having more and risking the negative effects happening)

Thanks for all the extra info! I really appreciate this.

lmao that's another thing I considered... being heard or even just between me to myself starting to get sick of talking out loud to my game haha... but I guess you can mostly avoid speaking and still interact with the dog and keep it in good shape without speaking much if at all?

I love dogs, but I can't say I will truly dedicate myself to the game as much as I ideally should. That's why I'm asking so much about the consequences of neglecting the game and what can be done to avoid any negative effects.
Thank you too for replying, I guess I just need a bit more clarification regarding what I asked and to think about it a lot before I make any decision.

Nothing bad really happens if you don't put them into a hotel if you're gone other then they get dirty, hungry and thirsty, but those are easy to fix.Diet food, water and non-premium shampoo is easy to afford, and getting money is also easy because you get prize money no matter what place your dog gets in a tournament.I had the maximum amount for all three of those items in less then a month, and it's easy to get more if I ever need more.I could test it,but I don't want to lose all my pets.It was really hard getting enough money for them because 5 x 2500 is a lot.

Oh sure I don't expect you to give them away just for testing this haha I guess I didn't think it through when I asked for testing... (I'm so worried about them just being hungry or sad, imagine how I'd feel about giving them away...)
Well, thanks a lot for all your detailed answers. Still not sure what to do so I guess I'm putting getting this game on hold for now. I think the next titles I'll pick up now that I actually got a bit more money would be Animal Crossing New Leaf (wanted it since the release) and maybe Pokémon Rumble Blast (just cause I want some pkmn game)
