First of, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this.

Ok, I was looking forward to buy a Nitendo DS in a close (or not so close) future, but there are 3 models (at least in my country), which honestly leaves me confused.

The Basic Nitendo DS, Nitendo DS Lite and Nitendo DSi - which one is the best?

I was looking forward to transfer some of my old Pokés to the new game, and I heard Nitendo DSi doesn't have GBA game slot. So, is it worth to lost that slot? If not, which is best, Lite or basic Nitendo DS?

Thanks in advance.

You'll be hard pressed to find the original any more. They've been phased out. If you need the GBA slot, go Lite.

DS or DS Lite. DSi is just a way for nintendo to prolong the DS's shelf life, so it doesn't have to rely solely on the Wii for income. Also, it has no GBA slot. Which is fail for games like Pokemon who make good use of Dual Slot.

DS's, while hard to find now, are damn sturdy little beasties. I only bought a DS Lite because I lost mine for over a year. I have dropped mine, got it wet, and had it thrown across a room. And it still works fine. It's not very aeshetically pleasing and it's a bit bulky, but it's very hard wearing.

DS Lites. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE If you buy one of these secondhand DO.NOT.BUY.A.EARLY.ONE. The first ones were so flimsy. My friend had one of the first DS Lites, she dropped it from her bed onto carpet and the screen hinge snapped clean off. My one has been bashed around a bit, but it works fine.

DSi's.....GODIEPLZ. If I want the internet, hey, this is a novel idea, I'll use my COMPUTER =O

Depends on if you want to make use of Pal-Park and the Dual Slot Mode on Pokémon, as well as if you'd want to browse the internet on it.

If you want Pal-Parl & Dual-Slot Mode - Go DS Lite.
If you want Internet and extra DS features unrelated to Pokémon - Go DSi.

And for a reply to Clefable -- Although DSi's do seem a bit "Need Moar Cash" I have had my DS from Launch Day and it is battered and scruffed beyond belief. The Battery is also pretty naff, too. Although I could just replace the battery and live with a worn machine, I'd rather buy a DSi than a Lite as a replacement. Leaving my Original DS for Pal-Parking, Dual-Slot Moding and playing general GBA games (As I sold my GBA a few years back).

I strongly suggest you to get a DSlite. The new Lite models work better than the older Lite models, so avoid getting an old one and try to get a new one. (I hear the old White Models are really crappy)
I was walking around the game section, and I found parents that were confused about the DSlite and the DSi, I told them:

The DSi is a neat idea, but it's one of those gadgets that allow you to do something that you can probably do already. Music, camera, and internet... There are Phones that do that, and they are probably a better investment if you don't have something like it already.

The DSLite also has the GBA slot, which is useful even outside of Pokemon. I have a lot of GBA games, and it's nice to go to the store and go into the discount section and be able to buy some GBA games for cheap too.

But yes. My vote: DSlite.

Indeed, DSLites allow for GBA Games and the like, but if someone was looking for an upgrade for the original DS - If their DS was still working, I'd tell them to go for the DSi as they could play GBA games on that.

However, ghaskan wanted to play GBA games/Use Dual-Slot features on Pokémon, hence why he's going for the DSLite.

... That seems to be a completely unrelated topic/situation... I suppose if they was asking a completely different question, such as the one you presented or perhaps something like ''I have a DSi, but I want something to play my GBA games with, what should I do?'', then it would follow that -my-, and others answers, would be different... So... Yes...

In short, I don't understand what you are trying to say, or the point you are trying to present. If it's merely, 'If the person asked something different then it's probably best that he'd do something different' then... I agree...? I had never said otherwise. I was suggesting something for his specific situation.

I was replying mainly to your point about your offering of advice in the store.
