How do you feel about no filler arc for DP?

Due to the 5th gen apparently coming out sooner than expected, (sometime in the Fall), it appears as though the DP series will not have any filler arc.

Whereas Hoenn was only 130 episodes to leave way for about 65 Battle Frontier episodes, the writers have instead stretched Sinnoh out over the entire 4 year span between games.

It appears as though if we get anything after the league, the only thing possible is probably some short matches with the Elite 4 members, and even that is a long shot. Does anyone think the Battle Frontier will be skipped this gen? It's possible only Palmer will re-appear for a rematch, but the other Brains won't be showcased at all.

Thoughts on this?

they could squeeze in a few rushed battle frontier episodes, if they wanted to. like right before going back to pallet town, or something...

i really wanted to see dahlia, tbh. :/

but in the end, who cares! i'm looking forward to a few changes in the cast for the 5th generation quest. so yeah, that's what i'm anticipating really.

I'd like to see Ash go against every single member of the Sinnoh E4. Same goes for the Sinnoh Frontier Brains (this is unlikely)

That pretty much. It would be satisfying to see him walk home bawwwwwing after 4 years of this stupid generation's episodes.

If there won't be another filler arc I will be very disappointed. I really would've liked to see a second GF for Dawn and I would've liked to see Dahlia, Caitlin and Darach, the rocket executives and pretty much everyone. I just hope there will be.

I'm really excited for generation V though.

I'd just like to point out that with Dawn almost certainly getting her fifth Ribbon in the next episode and Ash earning his eighth badge by early March, the DP series will be in exactly the same position as the AG series in 2005 (where Ash and May were done with their collecting quests by the beginning of March). Given the need for expediency, there is no reason to believe that the pacing of the show can't allow for the Hoenn situation to be repeated, which is to say that the Sinnoh League will be over by the time Movie 13 premieres in July. The setting of the movie does not have to be in Sinnoh.

If the new games are released in September to follow the trend of recent years (started with Diamond and Pearl in 2006), that will leave roughly eleven episodes after the movie premiere, which I'm assuming will more or less coincide with the end of the League. However, the games may also be released in late November (following Gold, Silver, Ruby and Sapphire's footsteps) to extend their promotion, in which case there will be a grand total of 19 episodes left. Of course, their release date could be at any time between September and December without adhering to any strict pattern.

It is also possible that the people who were hell-bent on the saga being stretched could still be right, with the League being reserved for until after the movie premiere. But should the games be released in September, which is a very likely possibility, there will be no time for anything but the League if it is preempted for so long. I'd like to see the Elite Four theorists acknowledge that for once.

That's a good thing though. Even if the league is over by July, the last 10-15 episodes can be spent on the Elite 4, and then the final "goodbye" episodes that are expected at the end of every saga.

I guess the Sinnoh Frontier Brains are the only thing that won't be covered this gen. I do hope Ash at least gets a re-match with Palmer though.

Well I don't mind, but we have seen Palmer and did he not mention the Battle Tower? Plus he even battled Ash already. Maybe we could see a few battle tower episodes after the league. Also its possiblr we may not even get a league or E4, maybe just one or the other, and if I had to choose, it would be an E4. Man Gen IV has been so unpredictible since the announcement of HGSS

Aww, come on... I wanted to at least see Ash battle the Sinnoh frontier brains... :(

Mentioned, but doesn't mean they have to follow up on it.

We'll definitely get a league though: The Sinnoh League is what we'll get.

E4? Not going to try and guess right now if its happening. If after everything is done and we have a couple of episodes to spare, I wouldn't mind some relaxation in Pallet Town with all the Pokemon to fill in time.

I agree a full arc devoted to the Pokemon at the Oak's Lab where Ash trains a couple of oldies, maybe ending with an evolution (or possibly even a massive hometown tournament with possibly Ash battling Gary again) would be better than an incredibly rushed whatever is going to happen right after the Sinnoh league (assuming they don't pull the 5th gen card after the league like they pulled the 4th gen card after the Battle Frontier, sure Ash said goodbye to his Pokemon but seeing all of them would've been better than saying goodbye to his current ones).

well i am angry if there isnt a filler arc. The good thing about the filler arc is that if there was one, ash's sinnoh pokemon would shine in the league, and his older pokemon could be used in the filler arc to make sure none of the pokemon are neglected. Still, like the above poster said, if there are a few eiposdes left, then some relaxing time in pallet town will be fine too. I am hoping for a bf or e4 battles but it seems unlikely right now.

Palmer got the episode in Twinleaf, so I'm not exactly be crushed if we never see it again, especially since I don't think Barry will be kept as a recurring rival in the next saga. Frankly, I'd rather see Ash win the Sinnoh League and challenge and defeat the Elite 4, get his butt spanked by Cynthia, go back to Pallet town, chill for once episode (No Misty this time please!) and go to next gen.

We know he'll probably be using reserves in the Sinnoh league... then the Elite 4 has a collective of 26 pokemon, so Ash uses all of his oaked and in training pokemon to challenge them... we get to see everybody in heated battles... seems like a win-win situation to me.

I guess that's why Ash is apparently going to use some of his reserves in the Sinnoh League, because they won't have a chance to be used if he doesn't.

You know I have to wonder, if Ash is using his reserves, why would he lose the league?

Whatever the writers choose to do, they absolutely must give the Johto starters their due screentime to prove to Scott85 that they do not hate them. It seems ridiculous, but I am being quite serious.

whats so bad about misty or ash's older friends visiting him for one or two episodes in pallet town?

Fool ! Do you know what you've done ? You've awakened the wrath of Scott !!! Prepare for incoming shitstorm and sarcastic post in 3, 2, 1...

Not Ash's older friends, just Misty... and Max. May stopping in Pallet town to congratulate Ash on her way to Sinnoh or Hoenn would actually be cool, cause then we'd know what happened in the Johto GF. May in Pallet town would serve a purpose, Misty or Max in Pallet is just hogging screentime and not doing a whole lot Also, can Brock not go back to Pewter Gym if the writers are planning to bring him back 2 episodes after that... It's useless and annoying to have Ash say goodbye to him if he's not really going.

More focus on Ash's older pokemon would be nice instead of focusing on character we haven't seen in ages and that I don't really miss.

As long as we also see the triumphant return of Bulbasaur/Squirtle/Charizard, the surprise re-appearance of Gliscor, and Sceptile/Swellow/Corphish used, then all is good.

The Johto team can be used for the league while the powerhouse fan-favorite Kanto/Hoenn teams battle the Elite 4, along with the Sinnoh pokemon as well.

I'm a sucker for reoccuring characters meeting some of the more classic ones, both Pokemon and Human. It never seems like they give time for all their characters to mesh together; everything is separately contained in their own nice little packages. I hate that and is the reason I suspect the cross-overs arcs are so popular (or at least seem to gel well).
