Over the past few months, the members of my channel and I have been watching Smogon and their adjustments to tiers. Unhappy with how they place Pokémon by usage and not value, Kittymew has developed a new tier system based on a Pokémon's ability. The name? Format2, or F2 for short.

Here's the link to the banlist:

There is also a link to the Format1 tier, which is the tier under Uber, but over Format2. This is most likely the tier system that most peoples' teams are geared towards.

It's very far along, but it's not quite finished yet. Developments are still under way. The goal of this tier system is to provide a more stable system that isn't constantly being upturned and changed around. Many times has my team been crushed by the fact that the Pokémon on them have been moved to a different tier, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. This is hopefully going to eliminate that problem.

We will listen to all comments, criticisms, and suggestions, but please, none of the "Tiers suck I should be able to use whatever I want whenever I want" or the like.

The first link doesn't work, and I wouldn't provide a link to the forums on said post itself since it may be seen as advertising.

Anyway, can you guys just like c/p the list instead? I'm all for a tier based on usefulness, and I'm glad your posting it here to see what others think, though the "usage" tier does generally provide somewhat of a picture based on a Pokemon's usefulness.

I'm just wondering what Pokemon belong in what tier since all that is posted are banned Pokemon. Looking at it, Format 2 seems the equivalent to a BL tier.

EDIT: Also I'm wondering if there would be a shoddy server up for this since it would make testing in a practical nature much easier.

EDIT2: Actually, the forum probably only lists the banned Poke because that's the league forum.

If people want a shoddy server, I can run a shoddy server. I'm more for wifi, but I do battle in this format on the Smogon server on occasion.

As for that link, let me see if the server went down or anything, nobody else seems to be having an issue, it probably hiccuped or something. Try again?

Format2 is a single format, or what Smogon calls a "tier". Smogon's usage of the term is actually a complete misnomer, so I don't want to perpetuate it further.

Well, since a good number of competitive battles are on Shoddy, if more people agree with this format, it will pick up faster with its own server.

Just clarifying, the link to Smogon's uber tier means you agree with it? if it is, then I basically agree with everytihng you have there (format 2), if not, then we have a long discussion ahead of us.

The following Pokémon are banned to define Format-2:

All Ubers

Azelf

Blissey

Bronzong

Celebi

Cresselia

Deoxys-S

Dusknoir

Garchomp

Gengar

Gliscor

Gyarados

Heatran

Hippowdon

Infernape

Jirachi

Lucario

Metagross

Salamence

Scizor

Starmie

Swampert

Suicune

Togekiss

Tyranitar

Weavile

Zapdos

The following Pokémon are suspect: these should be tested, and results reported.

Mamoswine

Yanmega

Smogon's uber tier is actually a load of garbage for the purposes of an OU format, but of course it is right now. I've been following the Netbattle guys while they decided to drop everything they did and start over. Of COURSE they're a year or so behind. Follow the link to Format-1 to see what's been done with OU and has been seeing play on the Smogon server lately.

Yeah, I hear BL's being overhauled, but format1 link doesn't work in the link you gave us.

Bumping to announce that there will be a Shoddy server, but not until either the official Shoddy development team (not likely) or myself (probably far faster) fixes the Trick bug, allowing us to unban the move. I see little point in testing if the second most influential move in the game is forced to be banned due to a game-breaking bug.
