Now Play Asia is stopping Europeans from importing.

I blame Sony. Play-Asia probably just fears the same retribution from Nintendo that Lik Sang got from Sony.

I don't see why they don't have several teams on the translation bit so that they can release DP simultaneously...

Too bad they don't realize that even if they stop shipping, someone who wants it bad enough is going to ask their friends in the US to get it and send it over, and then they'd give them money or something in return.

Unless... customs can block that... I dunno, can they block someone here from sending a game overseas?

Ah, I got it. It's not Nintendo's fault. It's an issue for the legal departments. Customs would stop it, because it doesn't comply with EU regulations, because it's only English, not German/French/Spanish/Whatever.

....which begs the question though...how does a Japanese version get through customs, given that it doesn't have anything in any of those languages? Is it an all or nothing deal, with no middle ground?

This is just pathetic.

The atitude of the Americans and Japanese about Pokemon have already made me almost quit pokemon, and this may be the last step. Especially as the DS is still extortionately expensive

That fails. Really fails.

Even though I live in Australia, this is pretty stupid D=.

They're stopping Europeans from importing? That's just sad! (well, it is for me, living in Europe as I do)

From my understanding, I don't see how America or Japan caused this;...

It seems Bulbagarden needs a new thread for everything to actually get poeple's attention.

It's official: NOE sucks.
That has been official for years. :(

I have to go the customs for almost every import I get from Japan, Hong Kong or USA. They don't seem to care as long as it's not drugs or whatever. They just charge me some taxes and then let me take my parcel home. The last time I had a parcel full of plushies, books and also a Japanese Wii. I told them that I have toys and plushies in the parcel, they opened it and also saw the Wii but didn't seem to notice it. I'd say they don't really know about Video Game versions.

It's funny though that Switzerland is not on the list.
Also, there's still yesasia.com.

Nah, its just their attitude in the past (Ie JAA got Celebi, Deoxys, Mew etc, wheras JAE got Charizard, Pikachu, Legendary Birds, Legendary Dogs etc)

It just seems constantly imbalanced, especially with all we've done for America.

And now this. How come the Americans arent being stopped importing it, why just the Europeans.

At times it does feel discriminatory towards us.

They're probably stopping all EU countries from importing so that people don't whine about not getting German/French/Spanish/whatever versions, because mainly what would happen is that people who spoke English, which means mainly the UK, would buy the US version. NOE would make little to nothing off of rereleasing the English version there at the same time as the rest of Europe.

Which is why I don't see why the UK doesn't just become under NOA's rule. Historically... it hasn't really been like the rest of Europe, anyway.

Of course, it'd then be the EU laws that'd prevent Nintendo from selling DP to ANYONE outside of Japan until after it could be released in eighty languages simultaneously. Which is kind of dumb.

But eh, that's what happens when you start going into continental governments. Maybe by 2030, this all will be a bad memory, since by then the EU will have established itself much more than it has now. Heck, it was 2004 when the EU constitutional treaty came about, more or less the European government is essentially on the same level as that of the US in 1792, three years after its own constitution became valid.

It's not JUST the EU, you know, it's ALL of Europe. Ah well, there's always Ebay, and it's not like Play-Asia are forbiding us from importing anything else than these particular games.

You think that's bad? Look up the Canadian events. Now that's sad.
