Now that 4Kids' dubbing is almost over, what was your best and worst dub ep?

Best ep: Anything that has barely been touched, as in the editing.
Worst ep: Anything heavily edited.

And one of the stupidest parts of the dub is the whole "Arbok evolving into Seviper" Trainer's Choice. Unless it's them using Future Sight when it comes to D/P.

That's the problem with this. The quality of dubbing seems to purley depend on how much effort was put in to change an episode unless the change particularly made it better.

Enjoyment factor largely depends on how good the original is. (That's why a lot of people enjoyed LoT even with all the edits.) The only exception is Mastermind but that's not 4Kids so let's not get into that.

So best ep: Do I hear a Ralts?
worst ep: One of the Johto fillers.

The worst is anything from the Chronicles series. (Well not ANYTHING, but uh...whatever the most butchered special was in that series)

Shame, if Chronicles was handled by the team who did the main show, it would have been excellent save the music changes. :/

The worst dubbing example (not a single episode) is that non-English counries (perhaps not several countries in East Asia, I dunno) dub the English anime, instead of translating directly from Japanese. It makes the whole anime lose its Japanese style, because the dub has been suted to be shown for American children (and again suited for other kids in another country). I doubt that will change during the "PUSA-time", though.

The best ep is hard to say, because I don't know Japanese very well, but I'll probably choose one of the very first ones.

Best dub: Exploud and Clear (the narattor changed a lot of his usual script in this episode)
As for the worst dub, i cannot pronnounce myself clearly due to the fact that most of the first 5 seasons i've watched where dubbed into the regional language. What i could say although is that, by rewatching some of the English episodes from these 5 seasons, what i hated the most were the ones from the JCL(season 4).

Well, this isn't really a best or worst 'dubbed' kinda thing for me, because everyone knows I'm partial to 4Kids, lol. ^^

So anyway, this is more like my opinions of the best and worst Pokemon episodes.

Best episode: "Hocus Pokemon" (yes, I absolutely love this episode! It was perfect in every single way! And it was also the most hilarious Pokemon episode I've ever seen!) XD

Worst episode: Aww, do I really have to pick a worst episode? I like ALL Pokemon episodes. Seriously, I do. In most episodes, there's usually a few things that I like about them. But, just because everyone else has done so, I might as well pick my least favorite episode.

So, I guess my worst episode would be "Pokemon Scent-Sation", from the first season. Yeah, I know that Ash got the Rainbow Badge in this episode. And I know that Erika was in this episode too......

But, the only thing I didn't like about this episode - the ONLY thing - was the fact that Ash had to be forced to wear that stupid dress just so he could enter the gym (gee, thanks Team Rocket! Thanks, Japanese writers!). Honestly, I wish they had never created 'Ashley'. I've even seen fanart of that character on the internet. And I ask why? Why would the writers do that to him? I guess I could understand Team Rocket doing it seeing as how they're the villains and it makes sense that they'd do something like that to the 'twerp'. But the writers? What reason would they have for doing that to Ash? Surely, there must've been some other way than for him to go and completely humiliate himself like that. Poor Ash. :-(

We're talking about worst *dub* episode, not worst Japanese episode. Which I suspect is the origin of all the hatred of various fillers anyway. 4Kids can't do much if the episode sucks to begin with.

Heh, oddly enough I don't have either of those problems. XD

It's funny, because I like most if not all Pokemon episodes, and I also like 4kids and don't mind their edits (they don't annoy me at all).

Ahh, I just realized I'm probably gonna get flamed for saying that...... O_O *gets ready to be flamed*

My favorite dub is when Team Rocket finds the penny on the ground:

Wow, Jessie sounds really off in that clip.

It's called "comedy."

The reason I was hoping for a return to Celadon in Battle Frontier was for Ashley references. :) Though, with the noticeable lack of references to Ash's first Kanto journey, maybe it is for the best that they didn't go there.

Team Rocket were actually tolerating Ash at that point and bearing in mind the amount of times that James disguised himself with dresses back then, I don't think they were being mean. As for the writers, they saw the girl-only Gym in the games and decided to play around with the concept.

This is a hard thread, because there are a lot of episodes where one VA will do superb and the rest will be as good as always, or episodes where a couple are a bit off. Especially on the episodes that focus on characters, there's a lot of individual examples... I'll only give a few.

I thought that Veronica did an excellent job in the first episode, especially for just starting out. One of my favorite lines in the entire series is the "Spearows, I will catch you all!" line.
I think that Rachael shines with emotion and Eric does well with nuance. It's a hard decision.

As for "worst" episodes, I think everyone started getting a bit tired at the end of Master Quest, but it picked back up in early Advanced. (I wasn't a big fan of most of Master Quest, for some reason...)
