I guess Bush doesn't care about his other appointment, seeing as how he's picked a woman with absolutely no qualifications except for that fact that well - she knows Bush.

As far as I can tell, Miers has never been involved in the judicial system at all. He could've easily have nominated the woman running the local Subway, I guess.

Everytime I think about any of this, it kind of makes me want to kill myself. I mean these people are going to be there for basically ever. It's so depressing.

She was on the bar or whatever. It's still just spoils-system handouts in my opinion.

However, my government professor says that Bush nominated her because, with no prior record as a judge of any kind, the democrats will have nothing to go on when deciding what to do with her. In that case, she'll probably get elected just because she doesn't have to reveal her stand on anything.

Pretty much like Roberts, who refused to voice his opinion on any subject ranging from abortion to robots. I can see him at home with his wife:

"Would you like pasta tonight, dear?"

"I'm not prepared to make a decision on a hypothetical situation."

Basically, Judge Roberts tried his best to keep everything about himself a total mystery.
