Number of new pokemon

It's confirmed that the Region Dex has old pokemon as well as new ones, unlike Black and White, which had all new pokemon only until the post game. Estimates for the amount of new pokemon we will get average out at around 120, not counting mega evolutions.

I have a hunch that we will be getting around 120-130 new pokemon and around 60 mega evplutions.

I can't see anywhere near that many Mega's. I would think closer to 20-25 in these games with some more for the sequel/3rd version

Assuming that all past starters get Megas, we've already passed that number.

51 minimum Pokémon is confirmed, but I'd say literally anything between 100-150. Megalutions I think there can be anything from 20-50.

personally, i'm hoping for at least 5 cross-gen evos/prevos -besides sylveon- to be squeezed into the approx total, but i fear even that might be a stretch.

I predict approximately 113 new Pokemon, excluding Mega Evolutions. There has never been less than 100, else there wouldn't be much to choose from, which is something I like about the Pokemon franchise is the massive variety of Pokemon. I know a lot of people (namely the nostalgic Gen 1 fanatics) complain that there are too many Pokemon, well to me, it's more like there's not enough, and if there's only 50 new Pokemon in the generation to give more attention to the Mega Evolutions, I would be very disappointed.

I'm guessing a Hoenn-like amount, 130-ish... though I suppose it depends on whether Gamefreak thinks Mega evos are "new" enough to count towards the general total. If they do we'll probably get less.

Doctor - I'm not assuming that, hence my numbers. They may well do in future generations & later gen VI games but I can't imagine getting more than double what we already have.

Robo Floatzel - I would be happy with that kind of number, its probably around 50 new "families". More interesting fr me is how many old pokemon will be available in-game

I also still hope for actual new evolutions, not just Mega Evolutions and Megas alone, the only one we got is Sylveon, and I don't like Sylveon at all. If it's only Sylveon and the rest are Megas, I will be severely dissapointed.

Robo - Yeah I would like to see a few new evos as well. Breloom, Torkoal, Skarmory, Seaking, Audino, Girafarig, Jynx & Basculin would be my choices as they are all favourites.

What made you come to that number?

I'd say 100 minimum.

If I remember right, an undisclosed source around in June said their would be that many Pokemon in Gen 6, and it's been fairly accurate to what it's said as far as I have seen, but that was back in June.

Was that the rumours posted on Pokebeach? Because I don't think those mentioned the number of new Pokes.

I could see them adding around 151 Pokemon.
- Throwback to Generation 1
- 649 + 151 = 800

Just a speculation though.

i meant even as in 800 being a flat number, not as in.. 'just any old number ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8' also gen 3? whats that *sticks fingers in ears and hums loudly to forget about hoenn*
