Have you ever played a NUZLOCKE pokemon??
It could be a new way to play your pokemon games, and enjoy them more than before... If you like playing like this.
The Nuzlocke Challenge is a set of rules intended to create a higher level of difficulty while playing the Pokémon games. Many challengers feel that the rules also serve the purpose of encouraging the use of Pokémon the player would not normally choose, and promoting closer bonds with the player's Pokémon. The rules are not an in-game function, but are self-imposed on the part of the player, and thus subject to variation. (from bulbagarden)

I have never played a nuzlocke, but want to try soon. which RULES do you recomind to follow in it?
please leave your advices and experiences below! Thank you!

During my first nuzlocke, I played abiding the following rules:
  • Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released or put in the Pokémon Storage System permanently.
  • The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. If the first encounter in the area is a Double Battle in dark grass, the player may choose which of the two Pokémon they would like to catch.
    • Species/Dupes Clause: Adjusting the first encounter rule to prevent the player from having to catch multiple of the same Pokémon, for the sake of variety. Generally this means that the trainer can keep fighting Pokémon in the area until one is encountered that has not been caught yet, which then immediately counts as the first encounter.
      • As an extension, setting a limit on how much Dupes Clause can trigger in an area. If that limit is reached, no Pokémon can be caught in that area (alternatively; the trainer has to settle for the last allowed duplicate to trigger the clause). (My Limit was 5).
    • Not officially enforcing the rules until the player has Poké Balls and can catch Pokémon. For example, the PoochyenaRS/ZigzagoonE that the player has to save Professor Birch from is not counted as the first encounter on the route, and not counting any other encounters as such until they can catch. Likewise, in the games where the rival battle is immediately after getting the starter Pokémon, the "any that faint must be released" rule is not enforced at that time.
  • Also not a definite rule, but the general consensus is that a black out/white out is considered to be "game over", even if there are Pokémon left in the PC
  • Going to options and making the battle style "set", leaving the player unable to switch out.
  • Strongly implied, though not explicitly mentioned in the comic, is the stipulation that the player can use only Pokémon they have captured themselves, meaning traded Pokémon, mystery gifts, etc., are prohibited. Trading and retrading the same Pokémon (for the purpose of evolving a Graveler, for example) is something of a gray area, and may fall under optional rules.
  • No catching/using Legendary Pokémon.
  • Also strongly implied is a prohibition against voluntarily resetting and reloading the game when things go wrong. Being able to do so would render all of the other rules pointless.
I used all these rules, (Although I just copied and pasted them for you from the page), but it's up to you, It's best to shape the game to how you want it to be. I honestly don't even nickname any of my pokemon, so I left that rule out :), but you could keep that rule.

I've tried a few, but man of them haven't gone my way because when I loose pokemon, I hate having to level a new one up. I've never been fond of grinding so I'm doing a Wedlocke challenge with some rules, and an exception.

My Wedlocke Rules (for my Pokemon X Wedlocke)
- If a Pokemon faints, it's considered dead, and must be placed in Death Box in the PC (When I finish the locke, I plan to transfer all these Pokemon to my main game)
- You can only catch the first Pokemon you encounter on a route, unless it goes against Species, or Gender claus
- When building your team you must capture a Pokemon of the opposite gender, to pair it with your other Pokemon, once a pair has been made, the next Pokemon you get starts a new pair. (This is a more simple way, I am for LGBT rights and everything, so I know it doesn't have to be boy/girl, but I just wanted to make it simple for my first real Wedlocke. If you want to do something other than boy girl. When you get your first Pokemon, flip a coin to see if it will pair with an opposite or same gender. Heads is same, and tails is opposite. Then the next Pokemon you catch to pair it with, must go by the what you got on the coin flip. Then do the coin flip again for the next Pokemon. If one of the partner's in the pair dies, you can either reflip the coin for the other partner Pokemon, or it could be in the same kind of pair as before.)
- Every Pokemon must have a partner. You can't just pick and choose partners, until your drawing out from the PC, so this is after you have gotten your main 6, and one of them has died. If you catch a have a Pokemon that is very weak to electric types, and you catch another one on the next route that is also very weak to electric types, they still have to be paired.
- You can catch legendaries, but they can't be used.
- No megas

Exception:
- If a Pokemon's partner dies, and the partner you choose in the PC for it is more than 5 levels under your lowest level Pokemon, you are allowed to transfer it temporarily to your main game to train it up. But if it ends up fainting in this game, it is still considered dead. (You don't need this exception, like I said, I'm not very fond of grinding, and I rather not spend hours just grinding away)

my Wedlocke has been going okay this way, so far. Lockes are a great way to try out different Pokemon. I've collected 6 badges so far, but I've also had 6 deaths. My current team of pairs are Larkin the Talonflame and Kyler the Ampharos, Petra the Pyroar and Phantom the Lampent, and Seraphim the Venusaur and Slppers the Quagsire. I think the worst death was my first one, Chelsea the Scatterbug. I was really growing to like her, and having her partnered with Dynamite my Pikachu was great. She was about to evolve and I was trying to catch a Litleo who would be starting a new pair. The Litleo killed my poor Chelsea and since she was the same gender as Chelsea, she ended becoming partnered with Dynamite. Petra had a poor start with Dynamite, to say the least. I bet he wasn't too happy with her for killing his first love.

interesting! i never heard about the Wedlocke before. but like others (starterlocke/randamlocke/egglocke, etc) it has some differences and fun.

have you heard about this rule:
- you can't over level your pokemon. if the next gym lider has his/her pokemon at 20-25, your pokemon can only reach until the level 25 or they can not be used

Started a long term Nuzlocke project that should run Leaf Green>Saphire*>Platinum*>HeartGold>Black*>White2*>Y>Omega Ruby>Moon*. Flipped a coin to determine PC Gender(female) and all starters will be determined by Trainer ID. This will be done with fairly standard Nuzlocke rules and will end with the end game of Moon OR if I white out with nothing in my PC Box. Also, the "*" at the end indicates a blindlocke

I am almost done with LeafGreen, I've only lost 4 'mons and all that is left is Mewtwo and the 2nd battle with the E4. This is getting to be interesting.

The only Nuzloke I ever beat was a run through of Silver and FireRed. I have been trying for years to beat a Randomizer Emerald Nuzlocke, but I always fail; I've only gotten to the 7th gym tops. It's probably because I randomize movesets as well as Pokemon, so there's nothing I can do if I get a hydro cannon or hyperbeam etc. out of nowhere :(

I've done 2 Nuzlockes. One of White, and a variant of a Wonderlocke in X. In X, i pulled Pokemon from my Bank that basically consisted of Pokemon i got from Wonder Trade prior to the start of the adventure.

I never came up with a good name for this variant, but I just came up with one while writing this: Banklocke.

I have heard of the rule, I usually stick by it, but if I accidentally over them one or two above the gym leadee I won't not use them. The thing with a Wedlocke is you can not switch to another pair. You can switch between partners, but you can not switch out of the pair un less both of them die, that's why I'm a little more flexible with that rule

I've seen rules where you can only carry so many items - like you can't carry more than 20 healing items, or more than 20 Pokeballs. Anything that goes over the limit is discarded or sold.

Long ago I saw a guy make his own Nuzlocke variant which he called the Lunchbox. There's wasn't really any difference from a standard Nuzlocke other than a few rules that don't really affect the gameplay or even the game. The first rules were that each Pokemon should be named after a food item and that any defeated Pokemon go into a PC box named the Lunchbox. The next few rules are strange in that they only affect the person playing: the player can only play while hungry and whenever a Pokemon dies the player must later eat the food the Pokemon was named after. It was kinda weird but interesting.

To be honest, I actually attempted such a run in White 2...

...only I wasn't able to go through with the whole "defeat means release" rule, and abandoned it.

So, I just finished by LeafGreen run. I caught 48 and only lost 5, so a pretty good run.

Sapphire starts tomorrow.

Doing a run in White 2....

Just beat Roxie, only one death so far.

RIP Spy the Patrat

My current team is: Baconator the Pignite, Salem the Purrloin, Dolan the Psyduck, and Tesla the Magnemite.

Holy Cow. You ever done a Nuzelocke and been so over confident that you walked into Brawly under-leveled? Yeah so I'm on the second leg of my Nuz challenge and I just lost 2/3 of my team and I'm down to a Dustox and a Zigzagoon as well as a Whimsur and Marathuka that I had caught earlier. Best start 2016...
