Oak's Letter to be available for download through Wi-Fi in Japan: Shaymin available for capture ...

The official Japanese site has announced that Oak's letter will be distributed via Wi-Fi to Platinum players in spring 2009.

WTH? This is word-for-word from my website. :x

The official Japanese Pokemon website has posted that Oak's Letter will be available for download through Wi-Fi this spring in Japan. The key item allows you to eventually travel to the Flower Paradise where you will encounter a level 30 Shaymin. More details on the event and the item's distribution will take place at a later date.

EDIT: Guess the article was reposted after my initial post with different wording. ;)

I hope that since they're seemingly doing this territory by territory that it doesn't mean that NOE is going to screw us over even with a WiFi Event when we finally get Platinum - just to keep up the overall screwing overness...

Glad to see these FINALLY coming into play though.

Sounds exciting. Finally we get the chance of having a legit Shaymin that we could actually nickname.

Unfortunately, we tested this, and the Shaymin you get here won't activate the Glacidia Flower

It'll transform if you have one already, but it wont be activated by this Shaymin

Too bad I don't have Wi-Fi. ;_;

EDIT: Meaning, I likely still won't when this comes around to America...

Is this Spring in the Northern or Southern hemisphere? I assume Northern, so it's Autumn here.

I wonder when it's going to come out in Australia? *keeps dreaming*

I performed similar testing and found that the Glacidea Flower can indeed be obtained in this way. The reason for this is that unlike in Diamond and Pearl, the Shaymin caught in Platinum's Flower Paradise has a Fateful Encounter flag (making it the first capturable Pokémon to have that property).
