Tracey/Gary.
I know, it's crack but I read a couple of fanfics and it is a good nice crackpairing XD

Well...if you can't get the bull, go for a calf I suppose. XD I'm more of an ApprenticeShipper myself, but I could see myself supporting this. Lol

I've seen some good stories and cute artworks. Any Tracey 'ship is a good thing to me (any serious one - parody 'ships done to ridicule him excepted, of course).

Tracey's laid-back nature goes nicely with Gary's "in your face" tendencies.

I wrote a short little story about Tracey & Gary, though not in a shipping sense; just a kind of "first encounter." Check the link in my sig if you'd like - it's called "Breakfast at the Oaks."

I had a lot of fun inflicting Early Season, SmartAss!Gary on an unsuspecting Trace....:-D

Thank you! It was lovely *__* definitely one of my favourite Tracey/Gary fics now. I'll bookmark it on my deliicous <3<3<3

Do you have some recs? <3

Tracey really does need more love. <3

Oh, yes. Though the people who do like him tend to like him a LOT....:-D

(And yeah, I'm a Tracey fangirl. :shy:)

Edited to add:

Yes, but I'm too sleepy to look them up right now...I'll have to catch up with you in the morning. Sorry... :embarass:

Don't worry : D It's fine.
(OT: Here it's morning XD! it's 9 am)

So you're...(counts on fingers)...right on Greenwich Mean Time...?

(Not awake yet...just had to get up to take a dog out.)

Edited to add:

But I remembered the stories I was trying to remember:

By MetalPrincess13 on ff.net:

Beyond the Walls: Kind of takes the characters her own direction (it feels almost like an original novel), but still very, very good (and very, very, long). Not finished yet, and rated M. Note: Gary is involved with both Tracey and an OC girl (who does NOT feel anything like a self-insert at all), and no telling at the point where I stopped which will end up being the more permanent relationship. Warning: it may suck you in, don't start if you don't have a good block of several hours ahead of you free! I've kind of stayed away from it since I came up for air (after like six hours continuous reading), not because it isn't good, but because it is, and I'm highly susceptible to "fic hypnosis." It so far clocks in at 69 chapters / 356,176 words(!).

Secrets Told; Secrets Kept; & Friends, Rivals and Lovers: Much more canonical and not nearly so epic in length. "Secrets Told" is the first one, and is complete; FR&L is a side story to it, and "Secrets Kept" is a prequel; they're both unfinished as yet. They're all very involving, but much shorter than BtW, so they don't require nearly so much of a...commitment...to read.

There are some others I've seen, but it's been longer since I read them, so I'll have to do some more remembering. But good luck (if you haven't heard of them yet ;-))

Yep : D I'm from Italy.

Oh, Thank you! I only read Secrets Told and I loved it. <3 I'm going to read them right know <3<3

Every time I try to look for Tracey fics on ff.net, my only results are bashfics and that's pretty depressing... I know he didn't travel with the twerps for very long, but I'll be damned if anybody ever deserved that type of treatment from a fanbase. >>

Thank you so much for these recs! I'll be sure to check them out. This pairing has crossed my mind several times, especially from watching Chronicles.

I'm totally down for this ship.

What do yall think Oak's reaction would be to find out his grandson and assistant were together?

Oh my. I actually don't know. I think he would be shocked but not in a bad way. Maybe. But he would give Tracey these suspicious warning glares.
I really have no idea how is considered homosexuality in the pokemon world.

You do have to wade through the bash fics to get to any good Tracey stuff...but it can be done. Luckily most of them "warn" you that they're bash fics (more like they brag about it) so they're easy to avoid.

You can also check my "favorite stories" on my ff.net profile page for some Good Tracey Fics I've run across. I don't think any of them are Oakshippy, though...

QFT. Poor Tracey has become the whipping boy of Pokemon - the "safe target" for anyone who feels like trashing a character. I know people were mad about Brock leaving way back when, but they already knew Brock was coming back before they even saw Tracey in an episode...you'd think they'd cut Trace some slack, but nooooo.... Some folks still get off on hating him, over a decade after he left.... :dodgy:

(When I see a Tracey-bashing story with a recent date, I sometimes amuse myself by leaving sarcastic reviews.)

One more rec - but it's not a shipping story, and it's not ON ff.net anymore. I was actually hoping I could find someone who saved a copy of it...I can't remember the title or author (of course!). It wasn't a shippy story, but Gary and Tracey were becoming buds and travelling together....

It involved Gary wanting to become a "Pokemon Tamer" (someone who "gentled" Pokemon that had been abused or traumatized) and it was implied that most Tamers ought to find a Watcher to partner with. Tracey enters the story in pretty short order. It was unfinished, but I liked what was there...there was some pretty funny stuff with Gary's Eevee being psychotic (it was his first Taming subject, in this continuity) and - I think - an overeager junior Jenny causing much havoc as well. Does anyone else remember this...?

What do yall think Oak's reaction would be to find out his grandson and assistant were together?

I think he'd be totally cool with it, once the initial surprise died down. I think highly of Professor Oak's relationship with Tracey, I see them as being a lot alike...I'm not quite an ApprenticeShipper, I usually see it as a surrogate-father/almost-like-a-son type of thing, but I think Samuel knows Tracey very well and would trust him in a relationship with his grandson (or granddaughter, I also like NeighborShipping, lol). (I actually think the Professor would be more likely to give Gary warning glares, knowing how abrasive he can be....:p)

Oh my, now I need to write a story where Prof Oak wants to pair up Tracey/Gary and Ash's mother wants Gary/Ash. Yay.

I can't understand character-bashing :( it's just so sad. And the same for Misty/Dawn/May (they get bashing a lot).
And Tracey is so nice, how do they manage it?

Oooooo. That sounds fun. Lol.

Yeah, character bashing sucks.

LOL!

...and in the end they form a nice little three-way!

*is shot*

Oh, yeah. Fueled by Shipping Wars. But some of that has worn off as the audience gets used to the girls arriving and departing - now people just usually pair them up with someone else when they want to "free up" their favorite guy.

But the Tracey hatred still seems to be going strong in certain quarters...

And Tracey is so nice, how do they manage it?

I don't know - they just do. :dodgy:
The only thing they make fun of that he actually does is his "I've gotta sketch that!" schtick. For the rest, they usually claim he's something he's not and then hate him for that, and/or just subject him to random abuse. (Just go on ff.net, search in "Games-Pokemon" with the keyword "Tracey," and you'll get an idea from the story descriptions alone. (You'll also soon grow weary of the phrases "Tracey fans, DON'T READ!" and "I'M KILLING TRACEY!!1!!1"))

But...back to happier subjects!

I have another Tracey/Gary rec. It doesn't seem shippy at first, but...;-)

Anger, by Agent Yoko

Oh my, I looked for Tracey fanfics and... you are right! There was even a story that said:
this is a fic about tracey getting bashed its funny and also very GAY
(and the 'very gay' is very confusing)

Thank you for the rec. It was so sweet <3

I remember that one. NOT the worst one I've seen, but very memorable.

Yeah, "gay" has become a meaningless insult among kids these days...I think "gay" acts as a kind of synonym for being "girly" or "wussy" (I've actually read of some boy on a playground saying to another boy "You kissed a girl?! Ew, that's so gay!")

And the anti-Tracey crowd think he's "girly" just because he has a gentle, reserved manner and a soft voice...:eek:hdear: In "Secrets Kept," there's a bit where Gary (who isn't "out" to anyone but Tracey yet) complains that a friend of his thinks that another friend is gay "just because he's quiet." I kind of think that line is sort of a dig at the "Tracey is 'girly,' so he must be 'gay'" crowd.

Thank you for the rec. It was so sweet <3

You're very welcome! I liked the whole thing with Tracey trying to work out his anger through art; and Gary's motivation for being a bit of a jerk to him was a pleasant surprise. ;-)
