Objection! -- The Ace Attorney Club

I know there are several users around here who have played or are playing the Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice games, so I thought I'd make a place where we could talk about them. After recently completing Apollo Justice, I have now beaten all four games.

Membership is open, all you have to do is post. I only ask that you mark spoilers using the [*SPOILER] [*/SPOILER] tags (without the *) for the benefit of those who haven't beaten the games. This may not be necessary as this club develops, but I guess I'd better play it safe for now.

To get the discussion started, here's something about Apollo Justice:

I totally didn't see it coming that Apollo and Trucy are not only half-siblings, but their mother is Lamiroir. Of course, now looking at the picture of Thalassa and comparing it to Lamiroir, they look identical, but I never realized it at the time. And I accidentally spoiled myself on it, otherwise I would've been quite surprised when it was actually stated in the game.

Neither did I. I never read any spoilers so that came as a huge shock to me. NEVER saw that coming.

Makes me wonder if Lamiroir (Thalassa) will appear in the next game, if there's going to be one.

Xin Eohp: Seems pretty inevitable to me. The spoiler I accidentally spoiled myself on wasn't text, it was a sprite. As soon as I saw it, I knew what I said above. Love the username BTW.

Edgeworth: "I saw the report of her testimony, but who knew that under that helmet, it was the wicked witch of the witness stand!?"

Gumshoe: "The name's Police Department Detective. Occupation, Dick Gumshoe."

Kasumi: You need to play Trials & Tribulations, you really do. :-D You're going to love the last case. I was kind of uncomfortable with certain parts of it for religious reasons but there was one part that was pure, absolute, and total win.

So a Pokemon reference in Phoenix Wright, and of course, there are two Ace Attorney references in the anime. The first one is more obvious, the second one debatable.

-The Secret Sphere of Influence - Officer Jenny, who had arrested Nando, showed a picture of Meowth disguised as Sunflora stealing the Adamant Orb, and said it was all the evidence she needed. An unseen person then called out, "Objection!" (it was even the same in Japanese, "Igiari!") and this turned out to be the visiting Jenny.

-Pull Yourself Together, Chingling! - Shizue is vaguely reminiscent of Minuki/Trucy from Ace Attorney, a girl magician in a top hat who performs magic shows.

Phoenix: So the particular feature you recognize about the waitress is... her outfit!? But anyone could wear just such a uniform! Even me!
Judge: Mr. Wright! Please spare the court of any further mental anguish from that image.

LOL XD The grammar isn't perfect, but it's still hilarious.

Phoenix: A boat rental shop. Closed for Christmas it seems. I guess a murder taking place on one of the boats won't be good for business, either.
Maya: Boats... I've never ridden on a boat.
Phoenix: Really? Well, how about we go out on one when the trial is finished?
Maya: Hey, good idea! You bet!

Now c'mon, you can NOT play through that scene without thinking Phoenix just asked Maya on a date. XD If that isn't a date, what is?

Not really. They're only 5 years apart in age, and Maya turned 18 the next year.

I love AJ, possibly more than the first three. Don't get me wrong, I adore the PW versions and just about every character (Gumshoe, Franziska, Maya, and Adrian especially <3), but maybe I jumped on board too late? Playing AJ the same time as everyone else, it's like I get to share the love.

I had Lamiroir pegged the instant I saw her. The brooch that matched Trucy's, and her similar hair curls. It was like... try harder next time, Capcom.
And I didn't consult a walkthrough once. I thought I was getting good at solving cases, but it's more like because other characters solved things for me.
