Let’s get this show on the road! The theme for this Mafia game is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and it will be hosted by @Mellow Ezlo and myself while @SoaringDylan will be our good MoD. We’re looking for 20 players, so feel free to start signing up. :)

Rules:
- Know the basic Mafia rules.
- Do not communicate with each other outside of the game regarding your roles or the events of the game, unless your role specifically permits it.
- Reveal no information after you have died.
- By default the day phases will be 48 hours and the night phases will be 24 hours.
- Only one role claim is allowed per day period.
- Name claims are forbidden.
- We do not count counter claims as role claims, so if a claim has been made on one day, it is perfectly possible to counterclaim without the risk of being replaced/mod killed for it.
- Bold your votes and unvotes and put them on a separate line.
- Potential votes for Extension will be counted separately from ordinary votes.
- Only one extension will be granted per day and it will add 48 hours to the phase.
- Do not edit or remove your posts for any reason. Any extra thoughts or corrections must be made in a new post.
- You may not use your Role PMs as evidence.
- Do not reveal any outside information.
- The player with the most votes at the end of the day will be lynched. If a majority is reached before the end of the day the game will enter its twilight phase during which posting is still allowed, but votes cannot be changed.
- If the day ends in a tie, nobody will die.
- A player cannot be lynched by a single vote.
- Do not post during the night periods.
- We require every player to make at least 3 posts every game day. If that requirement is not fulfilled we will have to start replacing/mod killing.

I assume there are some rules we will need to follow?
Usually a good idea to mention those, some some of us don't accidentally cause mischief. :p

Also, I shall participate in this game, provided it starts after my holidays.

FYI for ZD-I players, I have my Sabbath every Friday night into Saturday, so there will be 25 hour stretches of time when I'm not responsive.

Because it can destroy the game and become claim to win. I've modded games where that became an issue.

There've been a few games lately where the town shouldn't have won. In other words, the mafia played well enough so they deserved to win, but excessive roleclaims made it impossible for them. It just gets unfair.

If it was up to me I'd completely disallow claims, but in a role madness game like this one, they can be useful as long as they're used moderately.

Btw, you all should know that as a game host, I am usually very strict when it comes to rules. In particular, anybody who doesn't meet the daily post quota (three posts in this case) receives no mercy from me without a good reason, which must be PM'd to me beforehand.
 
Also, a question to everybody signing up:

We were wanting to have all of the designated OCs (Mafia chat, etc.) take place in hidden channels at the ZD-i mafia Discord server. In order for it to work, though, every player in the game would need to be in the server. If just one player isn't in it, then it won't work.

To make it easier, I would like it if everybody changed their nickname in the server to their username here. If there is anybody who doesn't want to do it this way, then we won't do it this way, it's just really convenient being able to use the ZD-i server as a base of operations. :)
 
I admit that I have seen some games here broken by mass claiming, but I do think claiming, fake claiming and counter claiming has its place.

As Video Game Bonanza recently showed, a town-aligned claim doesn't always mean it's a town player, even if it was true. (There was a mafia doctor in that game to counter all the killing roles town had)

I hope you mean day phase, and not every real world day. It's just that real life happens.

Actually I mean three posts every hour!

Nah, it's every day phase. That's one post every 24 hours, should be manageable for everyone I think.
 
I might join later, depending on when this starts...I try to avoid being in more than one mafia game at once.

Put me in as a sub for now.
