How do they handle homeless people? Do they have shelters like here in the States? And what's the rate of homelessness over there?

Yes, in case you were wondering, this is for a fanfiction idea I have in my head. A guy gets kicked out of his house.

Homeless are reasonably rare, and tend to actually have some sort of pride for themselves. They'll set up small tent villages in large parks, and generally live a clean life. With public baths and laundromats both being common, hygine isn't really a problem. It's not unknown for people to be holding down a real office job while being homeless, and having no one catching on.

Of course, that's the upper end of the homeless spectrum. There *are* homeless who simply sleep in subway stations or underground shopping malls after dark, who don't have jobs, and wouldn't have the skills to get them....but even those guys manage to have good hygine standards, thanks to those baths and laundromats.
