Of Angels and Vampires (R)

Fal's Note: Well this is my first time of posting one of my stories on this forum, I'm a little nervous on how you people will accept this and what you'll think. I wrote this story because I had wanted it to be different from the other stories and since it's an Alternative Universe it was a little difficult for me to get some reviews. The other reason why I wrote this is because I love the whole Vampire Mythology and since a lot of Asian Vampires are featured in this a lot of the info comes from Vampire Princess Miyu and/or from my own ideas of how they live their way of life.
I had gotten inspirations for writing this story from Vampire Princess Miyu, Blade (the Wesley Snipes movie), Ah! My Goddess, and Escaflowne. So I'm hoping I'll get some acceptance for writing this story because I'm working really hard on it. Mainly on the Eldershipping part, it leans more towards them than any other shipping I have in this story. So please review! Thanks! ^_^

Of Angels and Vampires
Prologue: The Gathering and the Unexpected Welcome

Disclaimer: I don’t Pocket Monsters or any of its characters; they all belong to Satoshi Tajiri and the only things I own are my own characters. So don’t sue me people.

A/N: Well this is my first eldershipping fic and I was inspired to write this when the word 'vampire' popped into my head. So this is basically a fusion of Vampire Princess Miyu, Oh! My Goddess, and Blade the movie. Please R+R and you’ll get a cookie. :p

Oh, yeah, and here’s some Japanese words and names that are being used in the story.

Shurii = Spencer Hale

Sasaki = Giovanni

Takeshi = Brock

Shigeru = Gary

Satoshi = Ash

Kasumi = Misty

Yukinari Okido = Samuel Oak

Hanako = Delia

And a bunch of others I can’t name off the top of my head. ^^;;

Nigousan = Mistress

Kougeki = Attack

And that’s pretty much all I can think of for now.

Tokyo, Japan

~ Downtown ~

1990

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was going to be another year that a special event was going to happen, an event that all the people of the Japanese Vampires would never forget. And this was the year that happens once every ten years--the gathering of the vampires. There are no vampires from the west, but the vampires all over Japan and the east gather here in the large city of Tokyo to discuss reawakening the mistress of the vampires. The mistress had died thousands of years ago, and now they were in search of her reincarnation. They try to accomplish the task, but many times have they failed. To search for the Mistress of the Vampires, they must do it soon and fast, for their world was dying slowly, and almost each day they have died an unknown death.

One of the vampires were walking down the street one night after preying on its victim and was suddenly attacked by a warrior dressed in white who had large silken white wings. Soon after that, the vampires were on alert. Many tried fighting off this mysterious enemy but had died before striking first. Later the vampires found out that their enemies were their enemies from the past; they had thought that the enemies had died out years ago, but they were actually still alive. Of course, their leader did not know, nor did anyone else, but sooner or later their world was about to vanish quickly.

A man was walking down the street with a woman with wavy lavender hair and golden amber eyes. She was leaning on him. She squeezed his hand tightly. They would soon arrive at her apartment, and soon enough he would have to leave.

She gazed up at him and smiled. "Do you really have to go? It’s only nine o’clock, dear, why don’t you come up and talk to me... because on nights like these I get a little lonely," she said to him.

The man had gray hair and brown eyes. He sighed and shook his head. "I’m sorry, I can’t, honey," he said. The lavender-haired woman gave him a disappointed expression. "I have some business to attend to at my office. If I don’t get it done tonight, then how am I going to get my monthly paycheck, huh?" he said.

She rolled her eyes and stopped at the door to the building where her apartment was located. "It’s a fucking Friday night! You want to do some work on a night like this and not spend time with the one you love?" she spat.

The man stepped away from her and said, "Hey, I make you happy, don’t I? I spend a lot of time with you, and you’re getting mad at me just because I won’t spend the night with you? Please, just let me have my time to myself. I’ll come to your place tomorrow, alright?" He brushed her bangs out of her face and smiled at her, then bent down and kissed her for a long moment before pulling away from her.

She sighed and gave no angry or disappointed look on her face, for she knew there would always be other times for them to spend together. She pulled the door open and glanced behind her shoulder at the handsome man who was watching her go. "You will come tomorrow night, won’t you?" she asked.

The man nodded. "Of course. I’ll be there at eight o’clock if you like."

She shrugged and gave him a half smile. "Sounds good to me. Good night, Yukinari," she said, giving one last look at him.

"Good night, Yumiko," he said. She shut the door behind her, walking up the stairs.

He sighed and walked down the street. He lied about going to his office, but why in the hell would he want to go to his office at an ungodly hour on a day like this? He had a meeting to attend, and the place he was heading for was not too far from Yumiko’s apartment.

He walked a few blocks and turned a corner. There stood the high and tall building, the Tokyo Tower. That was where he had to go for his "meeting," and it was about to start soon at nine-thirty. As he rode the elevator up to the top and stepped out, there was already a large crowd of men who had sat around and stood waiting for the last one to come.

A man with short brown hair and brown eyes rose from his seat and bowed and as did everyone else. "Welcome, Yukinari-sama," said the man.

Yukinari waved his hand and told everyone to take their seats. They had the seats arranged into a circle for the warriors of the "Ketsueki Karyuudo," or "Blood Hunters," army, and they were seated near their leader, Yukinari Okido. The rest of the vampires were seated in rows. Some were in training, while the others were just first class warriors. Their race had formed an army of vampires that was known as the "Blood Hunters" thousands of years ago.

Yukinari waved his hand over his face, and soon enough his brown eyes changed to a keen ruby red color. "Tonight is yet another gathering for our race. Tonight we take the forsaken and make them our own kind," he said. The men said nothing while their leader was speaking.

A man with gray hair and brown eyes rose from his seat. "Sir," he began.

Yukinari looked towards the man’s direction and saw it was Shurii, one of his warriors close to him and his close friend. "Yes, Shurii?" he asked.

Shurii bowed. "Sorry to interrupt you sir, but I may I ask how we are going to find Suzumi-nigousan? We have talked about her every so often, and since there are no women in our race, why can’t we find her and repopulate?" he questioned.

There were murmurs and small talk among the crowd. Yukinari gave Shurii a puzzled look as if he did not know. "I’m glad you asked, Shurii," he said. Everyone went silent. "As your leader, I do not know how we will be able to find Suzumi, but one way or another we will find her. And I will tell you that there is another way for us to have female vampires among our race--we can prey on the women of Tokyo."

When he had spoken, Sasaki too rose from his seat standing next to Shurii. "But Yukinari-sama, what about the enemies that have been killing off our men? How will we deal with them and try to find Suzumi-nigousan at the same time?" Sasaki asked.

"We won’t deal with the enemies," he said. All the men gave him a confused expression.

"If we want to find the reincarnation of Suzumi-nigousan, we will have to search for her during the day. By night, we shall meet here and give any word or information if we have found her," he said.

There was a long haul of silence in the large room, and Shurii sighed. Sasaki sat down again to say nothing more. He was lost in thought about how to find the reincarnation of Suzumi-nigousan and to fight his enemies.

Outside the Tokyo Tower stood a woman with a white sleeveless top and purple bottomed dress. She wore a gold helmet and gold breastplate that went over her white top. She held a golden rod with a ruby diamond with wings on the top of it. She stood in the air with her white silky wings spread out. Standing a few feet away from the glass window, she could see that the gathering of the vampires had been going on for quite a while. Soon they could make their move.

She waved her rod. "All right, come, everyone. It is almost time," she said softly. A large group of winged warriors appeared behind her. They followed her to hide above the large place where the meeting was being held. The warriors were all obviously female, and they wore armor similar to their leader but with different designs and weapons. Their leader peered down into the window and waved her hand. Glancing behind her shoulder, she said, "Wait for my command when the time is right."

Yukinari could sense an odd feeling in the air. His head jerked up as he stared straight-ahead and looked out the window. He rose from his seat and grabbed his sword. His long black leather robe appeared on him when he stood. Shurii gave him an odd look and stared in his leader’s direction. "What is it, Yukinari-sama?" he questioned.

"Something is out there, I can feel it. It’s near," he whispered. An image of the female leader flashed in his mind, and he gasped. "It's them... they have come!" he yelled.

"Now!" she demanded. Soon enough, the glass window was shattered to pieces when the winged warriors entered. The vampires and the hunters jumped from their seats and withdrew their weapons. The woman with the golden helmet stared straight at Yukinari. Her warriors were going to attack, but she put her hand up telling them to wait.

"The angels of Gaia..." Yukinari whispered. He stared back at the woman.

"Yukinari-sama," shouted the woman across the room. She flew off the ground towards the vampire and landed gently a few feet away from him.

"Hanako! What an unexpected surprise!" he said with a smile. The woman glared at the vampire. "What brings you here to interrupt my gathering with my men?" he questioned.

"You know damn well why we’re here," she spat, forming her rod into a golden sword and pointing it in his face.

Yukinari gave her a devilish smile. "Do I?" he mused. "Are you here to befriend us, or stop us and chop off our heads and get it over and done with?"

The woman’s eyes narrowed, and her lips curved into a wicked smile. "My, my, my. After you and I being enemies for a thousand years, you know our plan very well."

The man laughed. "Of course I do. You and the rest of your kind are the same." Yukinari encircled Hanako, walking around her and examining her figure and armor. "Always trying to kill my men and having my kind become extinct. It’s difficult for us to accomplish things when we have so few of my blood hunters left." He pointed his index finger down at the ten hunters that stood, waiting for his command to attack.

"And yet here we are, still trying to kill one another for being longtime enemies. You’re still trying to get rid of us. Goodness, Hanako, when will you and your armies ever surrender? And what about other races that are more dangerous than we are? Are there any more monsters out there that are harmful to the human race?" he asked.

He stopped and moved close to her. He whispered in her ear, "Why don’t you give us a break and let us do our part in this world? That’s why we were created."

Hanako did not move, but stood rooted in her spot. "You vampires were created to prey on humans. The angels of Gaia were created to protect the humans from blood sucking bastards like you, Yukinari!" she snapped.

The vampire smiled. Walking back to his former spot, he looked down upon her, and his hand brushed upon her cheek. "I love your attitude and everything about you, Hanako. Even though you’re one good looking woman, you're also a bitch, but..."

He paused for a moment, looked over her, and saw that the vampires and angels were waiting for their leaders’ command. He looked down at her again and continued. "You are incredibly beautiful, and I sure as hell would like to fuck you, but since you hate me for being a vampire and taking the damned innocents’ lives... we’ll just have to settle this once and for all, eh?"

He cupped her chin and brought his face close to her face, but she immediately pushed him down and pointed her sword in his face again. She glanced over her shoulder and shouted, "Kougeki!" Right then and there all hell broke loose.

Yukinari pushed her off and grabbed his sword. With clinging and clanging, the duel between the Angel and the Vampire began.

The hunters and vampires were fighting against the angels with whatever they could use, magic and weapons. Of course, the angels too had known the arts of magic and had used spears, rods, swords, and bows and arrows. One by one, the vampires dropped to the ground dead with arrows and sharp objects stabbed through their hearts. One of the angels had a bow and arrow. She stood on a table and began shooting at the vampires, aiming at their chest and going straight through to their beating hearts. She had light blue hair and deep blue eyes, and she was highly skilled in using the bow. After shooting more than twenty-five men, she leaped down the table, grabbed her dagger, and stabbed any vampire that stood in her way. Helping her allies, she paused and took a quick glance at her leader, who was fighting against the vampire.

Hanako fell on the floor. Yukinari lunged forward, but she moved quickly out of the way and appeared behind him, grabbing the end of his long black cape. She jerked him forward, slicing his right eye clear up to his forehead. He screamed in pain and fell backwards, trying to cover his eye with his freehand.

Hanako stepped back and stood when ready if he tried to attack her. But he didn’t. He lay in an odd position and wiped his right eye while the blood gushed down right side of his face. He now had one eye. He glared at her intently, with rage welling up inside him. "Bitch..." he cursed. He stood up with the support of his sword and put his bloody hand down. Hanako showed no reaction to the horrifying sight of him having a bloody cut eye and the blood streaming down his face.

Yukinari gritted his teeth, showing his sharp fangs. He moved closer to her and swung his sword at her, but she moved before it could hit her. She shook her head and turned towards the chaotic battle that was going on behind her and the vampire.

She ordered her winged warriors to stop, and they did. They fled, flying out the broken window and leaving the vampires that were injured or dead. A purple hole appeared before the large Tokyo Tower, and the angels disappeared.

Hanako was about to go, but she turned and glanced down at Yukinari, who had stumbled over to the ground lying on his back in his own pool of blood, while blood continued to stream down his face. He sat up and stared at Hanako for a long moment, then smiled at her. "That’s it? You’re just going to leave me with a battle scar and flee? And here I thought you were going to kill me. I’m surprised, Hanako," he said.

The woman shook her head. "I was going to, but I thought I would leave you in your embarrassment, showing your men that were attacked by an angel of Gaia," she said. Her sword formed back into a golden rod.

Yukinari threw his head back and laughed. "Embarrassment? HA!" he mocked. "That’s bullshit, woman! My men respect and honor me as a father! Do you think they’ll disrespect me and show me no honor when they see you beat me? I think not."

Hanako scoffed and lifted herself off the ground. "Until we meet again, Yukinari," she said. She flew out the window and into the purple hole. In a white flash, the hole was gone.

Yukinari plopped back with his arms spread out; he stared up at the ceiling and laughed like a mad man.

Shurii looked over at his leader and ran to where he was lying. He gasped at the sight of his leader’s injury. "Yukinari-sama! Are you all right?" he questioned, kneeling beside him.

Yukinari stopped and stared at Shurii. "I feel fine, even though I got a scar from that damned woman. But let me tell you this--she is one hell of a woman... good looking, wouldn’t you say, Shurii?"

"Yes, Yukinari-sama, indeed she is... but you’re injured, and half of the men are lying on the floor dead. So we need to do something about this," he said.

"How many are still alive, Shurii?" Yukinari asked.

Shurii gazed among the men that still remained standing and alive. "Only thirty-five, sir. A few of them are injured badly, some just have a few cuts and such, but right now we’re worried about you," Shurii told him.

"Damn," Yukinari cursed. "Over one hundred fifty vampires we had and now we’re down to thirty-five? Those angels must’ve been trained well to kick our ass."

Shurii nodded, tearing a piece of fabric off his shirt to put on Yukinari’s eye. "Yes they must have, sir," he replied, not caring about the angels but for his leader and friend’s life. He wished he would not lose him from an injury like this--at this rate there was already a large pool of blood that surrounded him.

Yukinari sighed deeply as he stood up and sat down in his chair. "There goes our hopes for the future for our race... it went by too quickly and those angels just fled right away. And my beloved Hanako just left me with a scar." The man laughed. "Love hurts."

Shurii smirked at his friend. "I’m surprised you have a love interest in Hanako, sir. She is a tough woman as you have experienced, but she’ll come back. If you try making another move like that again, you’ll end up dead."

"I don’t care if I end up dead by her! All I want is to screw her and kill her!" Yukinari shouted, laughing again.

Shurii said nothing and shook his head; he didn’t see why Yukinari had an interest in Hanako. An angel of Gaia who was the enemy of his race... and here his leader was, falling in love all too quickly.

Yep, I'll do that BJ. ^^ Yeah I know it's Sakaki, I lost my actual word document of this part but I edited his name in the rest of the chapters. ^^;; Thanks!

*claps for Fali!* Yay! Way to go!

I am SO glad you put this up. As I was rereading this, something very very VERY important about the two races came back to my attention. The Vampires are all men; the Angels are all women. Wow. I almost got that completely wrong in Of the Joining of Darkness and Light--I assumed that there were other Vampire women there. Whoo, I better remember to fix that before I finish it!

I love them in this. He's still a hornball; she's not taking anybody's junk; and they're great. XD

You know who else I like in this? Shurii. He seems like the perfect sidekick for Yukinari-sama...

*Makes "ee" sounds happily and waits for the next chapter*

Hey Latonya! :D

Thanks for the review, I was practically squealing with joy and I thought no body else would review the story. But I might as well post the next chapter.
Not all the Vampires are men, there are some females but I don't mention them. Hanako is in charge of the female army of Gaia, so that's the only female-based army of Gaia. There are a few other armies but I'm running my mouth so I better shut up. ^^;; Thanks you guys! :D

Daughter of the Damned

A/N: Here’s the first chapter and please R+R people. ^_^

It had only been a day after the attack of the angels. Yukinari and his hunters and the remaining vampires had to clean up a few things around the Tokyo Tower before anything was noticeable on that night of chaos. They did not want the humans to be suspicious of what had happened there. Surely the humans would find out that vampires do exist, and it would be the end of their world for sure. But during the day they would disguise themselves as humans, and one would not expect them to be a creature of the night preying on humans for their blood for survival.

Of course, during this day they had set out to find the reincarnation of Suzumi-nigousan. They had searched all day long and had sought out information of her.

Shurii had found out that Suzumi was not only the mistress but also the daughter of their noble leader. Even though some did not want to believe it, it was not a lie. He had dug into more information about Suzumi, and he had learned that she had disappeared one day.

This had happened over a thousand years ago. He had remembered that day when she disappeared and poor Yukinari was so upset that he locked himself up in his room and wished not to be disturbed. Days had turned into weeks, and weeks had turned into months. It had been nearly over a month and a half half when he locked himself up, and goodness who knows what Yukinari was doing. His wife had tried to make him come out but still he had refused, and now that his daughter was gone there was no happiness in his leader’s life anymore.

The hunters had searched for her during the night, but it always came up with the same result. They figured that she was gone for good, or that she was probably dead by now. At that time the girl was only sixteen. She was Yukinari’s most precious thing in his life, and he had lost her all too soon. Shurii didn’t know why she had run away and why didn’t Yukinari remember this at all. He had probably forgotten about it years after he knew that his precious Suzumi wasn’t coming back. Then later on he had forgotten that he didn’t have a daughter at all, and here he was sulking in his room and hoping she would come back.

For almost three years he was lost in his depression of the loss of his daughter. It made his wife feel very uncomfortable when he would not speak at all to anyone, not even to her. His wife had short blonde hair and sapphire blue eyes, and she was younger than Yukinari. She was the mistress of the vampires. She tried many times to comfort him and tell him that it was going to be all right, but he would still not speak or do anything at all, would just sit in his chair and watch the flames dance on the burned wood of the fireplace. The Mistress wouldn’t take it any longer. She just left him alone, and the next day she was gone.

That had made Yukinari feel even worse.

Then things had gone back to the way they were before: He locked himself in his room and didn't came out for another few weeks. Sometimes when one would pass down the hall and knock on his door to check on him, he would just grab something and throw it at the door, screaming, "Get out! I wish to be alone! Let me live in my misery, damn it!" All one could see of Yukinari were tears streaming down his face, in a room that was a mess.

Two weeks after his wife had left, Yukinari was still in his room and refused to come out. By then it was up to Shurii to make him come out.

Walking down the long and empty hallway to his friend’s room. He opened the door slowly and knocked on it lightly, whispering, "Yukinari-sama..." He could hear a muffled sobbing coming from a depressed Yukinari, who was sitting at the end of the bed holding a picture frame of his wife and daughter. He held the picture frame as if he were holding a small child in his arms. The tears had subsided when he turned his head and saw that Shurii had entered.

"Get out, Shurii! I thought I told you I didn’t want to be disturbed!" he yelled, his ruby eyes narrowing at Shurii.

"Yukinari-sama, this is beginning to be ridiculous! You can’t shut yourself out of the world forever!" he said.

"I fucking don’t give a damn! I lost everything because of my need, and now I’m beginning to lose myself! Now if I lose anything more, I would rather die in my room and die a sad man who lived in his loneliness." Yukinari sighed deeply and turned around, dropping the picture frame. Its glass frame shattered to pieces with the man covering his face and sobbing. Deep inside his soul he was slowly dying each day, drowning in his own sorrow and over his family that had disappeared.

Shurii walked towards Yukinari, but he motioned his hand, telling the younger man to go away.

"Go, Shurii, let me deal with this the best way I can... please just go away," he mumbled.

Shurii nodded and bowed. "As you wish, sir." He turned, slowly walked out, and shut the door behind him.

A few moments later, Shurii had told everyone to not disturb Yukinari for a while and wait until he was ready to come out and face the world. He figured it might be a long while. Surprisingly, that very night Yukinari had gone insane, screaming and yelling in the night. This had caused a commotion in the castle (the castle was located somewhere far off in the woods near Kyoto), and the hunters had found out that their leader had escaped. Finding in his room was still a mess and the window was broken, they knew he was gone. They didn’t know how long, but he had returned the next dawn. Some had suspected that he was in his room for too long and had finally lost his sense of reality and went crazy. Others had thought he was still depressed and insane over the loss of his wife and daughter.

Still things had continued as if nothing happened to Yukinari. It was almost as if he didn’t have a wife and daughter at all. No one had spoken of that to him, for if they did, he would probably lock himself in his room yet again, and everyone wouldn’t like that at all; going through it again would be hell. Two times is bad enough but for the third time? That wouldn’t be acceptable.

During that whole week, having Yukinari back was pleasant, but there was something about him that bothered almost every one of the hunters and vampires. He had somehow changed during the night, and he didn’t act insane--the way he would talk whenever he had gotten angry. This had scared the living hell out of everyone, even Shurii. It wasn’t like him at all, and something had definitely happened to him. But they dared not to ask what he had done.

To Shurii’s surprise, he had still remembered the past, even if it was over a thousand years ago and his good friend Yukinari had long had forgotten all of it, even that day when his world had shattered like a fragile mirror.

But now it was getting close to sunset, and he had to meet back at the Tokyo Tower to give any word or information about the Suzumi-nigousan. However there was one thing that he couldn’t understand: if Yukinari had wanted to find the reincarnation of the mistress, didn’t he mean his wife? Or was he referring to his daughter as the mistress instead of his wife? Overall he didn’t understand it, but he had to ask or else they would be very disappointed in the end when this was all over.

After a few hours, Shurii had approached the Tokyo Tower and found only Sakaki there. Thankfully he was the only one.

Sakaki was patiently sitting on the bench, smoking a cigarette, waiting for everyone else to arrive. Shurii walked up to him and sat down beside him. Sighing, he said, "Did you find anything?"

"Not a damn thing," Sakaki said, exhaling the nicotine smoke and flinging the cigarette butt on to the ground. "I don’t think we’ll ever find Suzumi-nigousan. It’s a waste of time and we should be out here attacking people, for cryin’ out loud! I’m tired of walking around Tokyo and looking for a person who might already be dead, or as a matter of fact who died thousands of years ago. I don’t see why Yukinari wants to look for her," he said, coughing a bit and groaning.

The man sitting next to him wasn’t sure if he would tell him the real truth about Suzumi-nigousan or not, but it was worth a try. "Yes, I understand completely, Sakaki, and I’m getting as tired as you are. I wish we could do something else but we have to follow Yukinari’s orders whether we like it or not," he told him.

Sakaki scoffed, "Yeah, well at least you know how I feel, but I wish everybody would get here so I can go home and go to bed... God."

"Well, for what I’m about to tell you, you’ll probably be shocked or whatever your reaction will be... but please don’t tell Yukinari-sama about this." Shurii said.

Sakaki turned his head, stared at him, and nodded. "Sure, what is it?"

Shurii sighed. "You probably don’t remember this... but do you remember Yukinari having a wife and daughter?"

"I think so, but keep going."

"Well, his daughter disappeared when she was sixteen. He was so depressed. His wife was worried about him, and she tried everything she could to make him feel better. It just didn’t hit him, so she left him. That made things worse for him," he said.

Sakaki gave him an odd look. "And your point is?"

"My point is that there's something I don't get. Since Yukinari wants to find the reincarnation of Suzumi-nigousan, he either wants to find the reincarnation of his wife or his daughter... and I know one of the two had that name, but I just can’t quite put my finger on it."

After he said that, Sakaki was silent for a moment. A moment or two later, he finally spoke. "How can that be possible? Not knowing who the nigousan may be is really confusing... but I’m suspecting his wife is. I don’t remember her, but it must be her that he’s looking for."

"I highly doubt that. Maybe he is, but it’s probably his daughter that he’s looking for," Shurii said.

"I have no clue on that one, Shurii," said Sakaki.

Just a few moments after their conversation, the rest of the remaining vampires and hunters had shown up with Yukinari. His eye had healed up, but a deep scar remained on his eye that went clear up to his forehead to his gray-haired scalp. He groaned, as he was still frustrated that he could see only out of one eye.

The men all bowed and greeted the noble leader. He waved his hand. "Yes, yes, now tell me," he began, "Did anyone find any word or information about Suzumi-nigousan?"

Of course there was no word or sound among the small group of vampires. Yukinari sighed and shook his head. "As always, no one speaks of finding the damned nigousan," he said. Shurii knew about the nigousan, but he dared not to speak of her when everyone was gathered here.

"Well, since I suspect there isn’t any word yet, I suppose we should all go home now. Everyone is dismissed," he commanded and turned to leave, as everyone else did.

Shurii didn’t follow everyone else, but he walked towards Yukinari’s direction and walked beside him. "Yukinari-sama," he said.

"What is it, Shurii?"

Shurii feared telling him about what had happened long ago. He would surely get yelled at by his leader, but it was either chasing two women who were probably dead or finding the truth. "Sir, I’ve been meaning to ask you if you really know who Suzumi-nigousan is... that is if you remember who she is," he said.

Yukinari gave Shurii a puzzled look. "What the hell are you talking about?" he questioned.

"Well, sir, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking today and remembered some things in the past. I know you probably wouldn’t like to hear the mention of the... two special people in your life that you once had. But I must know, who are we exactly searching for, your wife or your daughter?"

Yukinari stopped dead in his tracks and looked straight ahead. He was silent for a moment. Then he turned to Shurii with a shocked expression on his face that was more of a sad look. "You still remember, don’t you?" he questioned nervously.

Shurii nodded. "Yes, sir."

Yukinari sighed. Staring straight ahead, he clenched his fist. "I thought all of you had forgotten about it--but I was hoping you all would. The nigousan I’m looking for is my daughter, the light of my life who had disappeared," he said wryly. He bowed his head and said nothing more.

"I understand, sir, and I remember that very day. I’m sure at times you think about it. But I figured you wanted to look for your daughter. Why her?"

Yukinari laughed. "It’s obvious, my friend. She was the only thing that was important to me than my wife. After she and my wife disappeared, I thought for sure that my life would end after what I’ve been through."

Shurii understood now. It wasn’t his wife he wanted back, but his daughter. Goodness who knew what had happened to her or where she went? But this was a good time to search for her than forget about it. It would make Yukinari very happy if he were to see his daughter again. The only problem was that they didn’t know exactly if she was still alive or not.

Yukinari sighed. "Well, it’s best I go now," he said.

"Where will you be going this evening, sir? And what about your scar?" Shurii asked.

Yukinari walked a few steps away from him and glanced at him. "I’m going to see Yumiko tonight. I promised her that I would see her. About this scar... don’t worry, I’ll do something about it," he said and continued walking.

Shurii watched him leave. He had thought he wouldn’t be found out by a human like that woman. Of course he had met Yumiko before. But to him she was clingy to his leader and had wanted him to stay with her. Strange one she was, or so he had thought. With a small smile forming on his lips, Shurii turned the other way and left.

==============================================

Yukinari knocked on Yumiko’s door and heard a muffled voice shout, "Just a minute!" The door swung open, and to his surprise Yumiko wore a red gown, with her hair pulled back into a ponytail. She smiled at him. "Hey, I’m glad you came," she said meekly.

Yukinari laughed. "Yeah, but sorry I’m late. I was doing something at home," he said. Rubbing his right eye, he thought, Damn it, this eye is killing me! I wish I could go back to my true form and just tear my face off, but I can’t! Not while she’s here. Though this whole time and day, his eye had been bothering him. He tried not touching his eye, but it couldn’t be helped.

"Don’t be. I was hoping you’d be late, so I can clean up my little hell hole," Yumiko said. "Why don’t you sit down? I've just got to do something really quick, and then I’ll be ready, alright?"

"No problem," he said. He sat down and sighed, still trying to avoid touching his eye. Soon afterwards, his face went back to its original form, and he clutched his eye. "That’s it! I can’t take it any more!" he mumbled, rubbing his eye.

Yumiko came out of her room and looked in the other room where Yukinari was waiting; she could see that he had his back turned towards her. "Are you ready?" she asked suddenly.

Yukinari paused and glanced behind his shoulder. Damn, busted, he thought. He couldn’t do anything now, but if he did he soon would be found out. There went his race and himself. He turned around to face her.

The woman stood very still. "Well?" she said.

"Uh... yeah, but I've got something in my eye," he replied, rubbing his eye and trying to cover it.

"You do? Well, maybe can I take a look."

"No, it’s alright."

"Are you sure?"

He didn’t know whether he could just show her his scar or not, but she approached him. "Come on, just let me help and see what’s wrong," she said. Pulling his hand away from his face, her amber eyes widened. "A scar?" she exclaimed suddenly. "How did you get a scar, Yukinari?"

"That... is none of your business human!" he said. She gave him a confused expression, but he quickly grabbed her wrists and pushed her against the wall, staring her straight in the eye.

"What the hell are you doing?!" she asked in a frantic tone and tried freeing herself from his grasp. He said nothing for a moment.

"If you tell anyone what I’m about to tell you, I swear, I’ll hunt you down and kill you!" he growled.

"Alright, I won’t! Now what the hell is it?"

He was silent for a moment, and a devilish smile curved on his lips. "Better yet, you can find out for yourself," he said. She didn’t understand what he had meant by that, but the last thing she heard him say was, "You’re not going to like it, but I hope you’ll somehow forgive me." Then she felt a sharp pain sink into her neck. Her screams were deafening, but a few moments later he hushed her with a kiss.

Yumiko then sank to her knees, her vision a blur, and saw the man with the scar on his right eye. "Why?" she had managed to say, coughing and gasping for air.

He smirked at her and touched her cheek. "Because I need it. Sooner or later you’ll be like me... well, sort of. Of course you won’t like it one bit, but you will fall into a deep sleep... or more like a dream world, a world of your own happiness or chaos. The choice is yours, Yumiko," he said. He gave her one last kiss and walked out of her apartment.

She watched him go, then she fell forward on her face and sobbed. Darkness had swept over her. She had screamed as loud as she could, hoping someone or something would hear her, but nothing had come to her silent and dead world.

He walked down the empty hallway and sighed. He just took poor Yumiko like that, and she was now a living zombie. "You’re an ass, Yukinari," he said to himself.

Of course that went by too quickly. Now all he wanted to do was to go home or try to find the nigousan by himself. He knew what his daughter looked like, and it probably wouldn’t be too hard to find her, but in a big city like this one... it might be very difficult. Yukinari wished he could turn back time to find out why his daughter had disappeared and why everything fell apart in his life after she was gone. His precious Suzumi was gone.

==============================================

Ten years later..

At the University of Tokyo, a girl in her room tossed and turned in her sleep. In her sleep she dreamt of darkness. Darkness with her in it. Running from one place to another, she called out to whomever could hear her. She didn’t like it; she didn’t like it at all. She stopped and was rooted in her spot, because she could see an image of herself but more a different looking one. The girl looked like she had come from the ancient Japanese era, wearing a red kimono and her red hair cut very short. Her deep blue eyes were piercing the other girl in front of her, who was staring in awe at her.

"Who are you? And why do you look like me?" she seemed to ask.

The girl in the kimono glared. "You know exactly who I am... I’m you," she said.

The girl gasped. "You’re me? But how is that possible?"

"I can’t tell you that. It’s a secret," she said.

"Why not?" the girl asked, with a puzzled expression on her face. Her deep blue eyes widened as the other girl moved close to her and whispered to her.

"I’ve come to tell you that your fate will be coming to you very soon." Her sapphire blue eyes glowed, and she had a warm smile on her face as she stared at the girl.

"My fate? What is my fate?" she asked again. This was all too confusing to her.

"I told you, you will see your fate very soon, sooner than you think," she said. In a flash of white light she was gone, leaving the girl alone in the depths of the darkness. Silence was among the darkness and somewhere off in the distance, she could hear her name being called.

"Kasumi. Kasumi, wake up."

Kasumi slowly opened her eyes. All she could see was a person with jet black hair staring at her. The young man smiled at her. "Ohayo, Kasumi-chan," he said.

She smiled at him and slapped him lightly on the cheek. "What are you doing in my room? You know you’re not supposed to be here while I’m sleeping."

He laughed. "Well, all my friends ditched me, so I had to bother you. Sorry about that."

Kasumi sat up, jumped out of bed, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him. "I guess I’ll forgive you. You’re just lucky you didn’t give me a rude awakening, Satoshi."

"Heh, if I did that, I wouldn’t show my face around you or your part of the dormitory," he said. She gave him a half smile.

"What time is it anyway?" she asked.

"Almost ten o’clock. What are you gonna do today?"

She pulled away from him and grabbed her backpack. Digging through it, she pulled out a thick book. "I have to study for my Oceanography test tomorrow."

"You don’t need to study at a time like this!" he said. "You can study later on around six and I’ll leave you alone. Is that alright? ‘Sides, I wanted to go a movie with you today or go somewhere... well, that is, if you weren’t planning on doing anything today."

Kasumi shook her head; she needn’t study till later. Seeing a movie would get things off her mind: her studying, the things going on, and that dream she just had.

For the past few weeks of her first time at the university, she had been having strange visions and dreams. At times she would see things that never had happened to her before. She could see a large gathering of many people, dressed in clothing that was from the ancient Japanese eras. She was being attacked by winged warriors, and she watched them die. It looked like a fight between Heaven and Hell, but it was completely different. She often would think about that and figure it was a dream or something she had thought of... but she had felt like she was actually there, standing in the chaotic battlefield. Watching them all die, die of a horrible death, and she couldn’t do anything about it. They couldn’t see her, but she could see them.

Kasumi was from Osaka, living with her three sisters. She told them she was going to study oceanography. For the longest time, ever since she was little, she had always been interested in the ocean, the mammals and things like that. Her sisters didn’t care what she wanted to do: they would always leave her home by herself and they would be out partying or out with their boyfriends. She hated them for that, leaving her alone and having to take of herself. She wished her parents were still around to show her some love and affection. However, their father left his family for some whore he met, and her mother was forever upset and depressed. Her mother left one morning before Kasumi had gotten up and found her gone, with no letter, note, or anything at all. Kasumi had felt like she was alone. However, she was only six years old at the time. With three sisters who were uncaring to her, she had do everything on her own. Of course, after she graduated from high school, she immediately left home for the summer and never came back. She had gotten a summer job in Tokyo and went to University to study oceanography.

There she had met Satoshi. She was his friend at first. They usually argued and caused an embarrassing scene, but they didn’t care. Later on she had begun to like him; all that time he had liked her to begin with, and she didn’t realize it. They had only been together for five months now, but things were going smoothly for them.

She sighed. "Well, since we’re going to go downtown, I guess I better get ready, huh?"

"Yeah, you should. I’ll be waiting in my room. I’ll come back in an hour or whatever," Satoshi said and left.

==============================================

"This is beginning to be hopeless," Yukinari said, sighing.

Shurii nodded. "Yes, sir. It seems as if we’re losing hope in finding the nigousan."

It had been another long ten years, and still they hadn’t found Suzumi-nigousan. Yukinari was about to fall into his despair as he had once before long ago. He and Shurii were at his home, drinking tea. Yukinari didn’t feel the need to drink sake. He sipped his tea and sighed again. "Why? Why did she leave? Was it something I did that drove her away?" He took another sip of his tea and slammed his cup down.

Shurii jumped. "I... I don’t know, sir... it was probably nothing you did. It was probably something that Aya did," he said. Aya was his wife's name. She was a kind woman who had probably done nothing to Suzumi.

Yukinari didn’t understand and it was tearing him apart. "Impossible, there was nothing that Aya had done that made Suzumi disappear!" said he. "But if there’s a chance that if we do find her, I will be the happiest man in the world. If we find her by tonight, we can bring her to the gathering and reawaken her vampire blood," he said.

"Yes, if things go right then there’s no stopping us... hopefully this year Hanako and her army won’t intrude," said Shurii.

Yukinari scoffed. "It might happen, but if it does then we’ll be ready. Besides, I have a feeling it will... sooner or later it will. Don’t lose your hope on finding Suzumi. We might find her before the gathering."

"Yukinari-sama," Shurii said suddenly. "What happened to Yumiko?"

Yukinari gazed at Shurii for a moment and sighed. "I put Yumiko in her own little happy world... although I doubt that she’s alive today. If she is, then I’ll be damned," he replied.

"You took her? How could you do that, sir?"

"My eye was bothering me and she came in and asked me what was wrong. I told her to leave me alone, but she saw my scar and found out. So the only thing I could do was put her in her own world. Sucking her blood and leaving her to suffer," he told him.

"You blew your cover and you took her? I don’t believe that... maybe it was healing, sir," said Shurii.

"Well, what else was I supposed to do? I didn’t want her to find out about me, so I did what I could. But this scar certainly isn’t healing now. It probably stopped a few years ago... damn," he cursed.

There was a moment of silence that dragged by. Shurii still couldn’t believe his noble leader would do something like that. He and the others were vampires, creatures of that roamed the streets at night looking for humans to prey on... but to prey on someone you loved dearly and take their own life was beyond crazy. Poor Yumiko, she was taken away from the human world so quickly and now her life was being wasted... but Yukinari didn’t care one bit.

Yukinari sighed, rubbing his right eye. "I would love to sit here all day, but I want to go downtown," he said.

"What would you want to do down in Tokyo, sir?" Shurii questioned.

Getting up from his seat, the man glanced out the window. "It’s like I said, Shurii," he said. "I have a feeling that I’ll find Suzumi today. This is the right time to look for her."

Shurii nodded. "Yes, sir." They had left the apartment and walked downtown, although Shurii had a feeling this wasn’t going to be a good day for him and his people, especially Yukinari. Maybe it wouldn’t be as half as bad the way it was ten years ago. However, if Hanako and her angels came... then that would mean that they would probably take Suzumi away. Away from her destiny and away from her father.

==============================================

Downtown, Kasumi and Satoshi were sitting in the café. They had been sitting there for about fifteen minutes after spending half of the morning at the mall. Now they were taking a short break.

Kasumi had felt like her head was pounding. Groaning, she would just massage her temples trying to ease the pain. "Maybe it’s the heat, or you’re probably just tired from staying up so late and studying," Satoshi had said to her.

She shook her head. "Maybe I have been staying up late and studying way too much... but God, this headache is killing me!" she said. Although it was the staying up and study problem, she had to begun to think her 'fate' was coming. She didn’t know what or who it was: all she knew was that she had a 'fate.'

"I’ll go get you some water," Satoshi told her, and she nodded. He glanced at her with a worried look and left.

Sitting alone at the table, images flashed before her eyes. Seeing two men walk down the street--they both wore long leather coats and sunglasses, and it had seemed like the other side of town. They were heading in her direction. Then, back to the time when she stood in the battle between them and the winged warriors. The man smiled at her and said, "We’ve found her."

Kasumi’s head had then begun pounding; she fell out of her chair and screamed. As they came closer, she got up and backed away.

"Kasumi! What’s wrong?" Satoshi shouted.

She looked towards him, then at the two men. The redhead stood rooted in her spot, her deep blue eyes staring at the two men as they approached her. She shook her head, and all that came out of her mouth were the words, "No... no..." She sprang away in alarm. All the sounds around seemed deafening, and she couldn’t even hear Satoshi say her name.

"Kasumi! Kasumi!" Satoshi called anxiously. He grabbed her shoulders and shook her.

The girl turned aggressively to Satoshi, as if she had never seen him before. Her deep blue eyes began to glow. Her gasps became quite loud, and her face became pale. She looked towards the two men, and her eyes grew wide.

Her eyes glowing, she whispered, "Oto-san... Shurii..." She had begun to realize who it was.

Satoshi stared her, "Oto-san?" he repeated and looked up out the window. She didn’t reply. She stood there for a moment as if everything in place had froze and the man was staring straight at her. Kasumi pushed Satoshi away and ran out of the café as quick as she could. "KASUMI! KASUMI!" Satoshi screamed, but the girl didn’t hear him, and she did not stop. She was tearing through a crowd of people. She kept running, not noticing if they fell down and shouted at her.

"Shit, there she goes," cursed the man. He halted and snapped his fingers. A man and woman appeared, one with short lavender hair and the other with long red hair. "You called for us, sir?" said the woman.

The man nodded. "Go get her. Bring to her to me, and don’t let her escape," he demanded. The two had said nothing but nodded. They took off to capture the redhead.

Satoshi was following Kasumi, but she was running far too fast for him; he couldn’t keep up with her. He ran faster and tried to grab her, but she took off like a possessed demon: running at top speed, dashing through the street, and disappearing from his sight. "Damn it," he swore. He couldn’t give up now and had to go after her.

Kasumi hadn’t stopped; she kept running, her eyes still aglow. There was only one thing on her mind--to keep running from the two men and whatever else was chasing after her.

She turned a corner and ran down an alleyway that was deserted and dead quiet. She came to a halt, and her eyes kept glowing from a light blue to a deep blue color. At the corner of her eye, she could see something lurking in the shadows. Kasumi stood rooted in her spot.

Suddenly a man jumped out of the shadows and tried grabbing her. She stopped him. Narrowing her eyes, she had him stiff as a board so he didn’t move. "After all these years, you finally found me..." she said.

Your oto-san wants you back," he replied.

She scoffed, "Wants me back? For what? To force me to marry one of his hunters and make me live on my own? I don’t want that. He can suffer in his misery, for all I give a damn!" she shouted. Her eyes grew wide, and her telepathic strength threw the man against the wall. The possessed redhead grinned and walked away from the man, but before she was going to leave, a woman popped out of nowhere and blocked her way.

"It’s best you come with us, Suzumi," she said.

The girl smirked. "And if I refuse?"

"Then we have no choice but to force you to come with us."

She looked at the woman, then at the man who was lying on the ground. There was a long haul of silence that swept over them until a voice shouted, "Kasumi!" She turned to see it was Satoshi. The girl’s eyes glow had faded, and they were like lights being turned on and off.

"Stay out of this, human! This is none of your concern!" the woman shouted.

"Like hell it isn't!" Satoshi said, walking towards Kasumi, who seemed normal. "Come on, Kasumi, let’s go," he said.

The girl stared at him intently. "This Kasumi you speak of is gone," she said suddenly.

"What?" he questioned confusedly.

For a moment she said nothing, but her glowing eyes had begun to fade. Inside, Kasumi was fighting her way out to speak. "It’s too dangerous, Satoshi! Run!" she shouted.

"I’m not leaving without you!"

She looked at Satoshi intently, and her eyes glowed. "Foolish human, I’m your recarinator! You can’t get rid of me, no matter how hard you try... I control your life!" she shouted. "The gathering of the japanese vampires has begun, and it has been far too long since I last saw my wretched oto-san... the fool... thinking he would just push me out of his life and have me marry someone... he’s wrong!" she said in a harsh tone.

The woman with red hair grabbed Suzumi from behind, wrapping her arms behind her back and speaking in her ear. "Are you going to come with us, or are you going to play hide and seek?"

"Do I have a choice?" she asked.

"I don’t think you do, my dear," she replied.

Suzumi was about to say something, but she tried to free herself from the woman’s grasp. All she could see was the young man Satoshi being attacked by the man with purple hair. Then everything went into darkness, and she couldn’t hear anything. She would’ve used her telepathic powers, but didn’t feel the need to because she knew she would just be hunted down like a wild animal.

There was nothing more she could do, but the other girl inside her was scared out of her wits. "Do not fret, Kasumi. Nothing will happen to you, but since I’m a part of you, there is something that will happen to you," she said.

"What will they do?" Kasumi questioned.

Suzumi shook her head. "I don’t know, but I know they won’t harm you in any way. For now, you will take over. You need to understand what happened to me, and I’m sure they’ll explain half of my life story to you. Then I will take it from there."

Kasumi nodded as if she understood and sighed. Anything could happen to her. She just hoped that they did not harm Satoshi. But she would just have to wait and see. Suzumi was right--her fate had come too soon. And she was afraid, very afraid.

Whooooo!!

The beginning is a bit stilted, though...try saying the lines aloud and see how they flow. Near the middle it fixes itself, though *g*

This is such a cool fic...!

I quite agree with Blackjack. Other than that, this is starting to get very, very interesting. With the first chapter out, it'S definitely shaping up well. Keep up the good work - can't wait to find out more about those vampires *hasn't failed to note who SatoshiS' mother happen to be, btw* :)

*does the Chapter 1 dance*

See, remember what we were saying last night about thinking about the details? That's one of my favorite things about this fic. So many details... and it's like you can see what's happening. Like the part where he dropped the picture frame. I adore stuff like that...

It has nothing to do with anything, but is Yumiko completely out of the story? I was pondering on the nature of her zombification... (and kind of wondering if it was like the other guy's thing... *chapter 4 poke*) We'll probably go on about that later on, though, so I'll hush until then.

Ah, yes, Aya. She seems so sweet, doesn't she... *shifty eyes*

More more more, my General...

Chapter Two: The Nigousan's Return

Of Angels and Vampires
Chapter Two
The Nigousan's Return

By Fallon

Strange colors of light flashed before her eyes surrounded in this strange world of nothing... nothing but of her memories from times she wouldn’t want to remember. Everything was going by her so quickly, like time itself was controlling this world of hers. Kasumi was reliving part of her memories; some memories were happy times... others were bad times.

She didn’t know she had this kind of power--a power she couldn’t control. Usually it would come out on its own and do whatever it wished. Once, she had gotten angry with her sister. Her anger welled up inside of her, and surprisingly a gust of wind came through, breaking the windows and shook the house. Her sister screamed and fell flat on the floor, covering her head and whimpering. "What the hell did you just do?!" she screamed at the redhead.

For a moment Kasumi stood there, giving her sibling an angry look. Then a second later she gave her a bewildered look as if nothing happened. "Huh? What?" she said confused.

"Don’t play dumb! I saw what you did! You broke the windows and went psycho just because you did something!" she yelled, getting off the floor. She walked over to Kasumi and stared at her straight in the eye. Kasumi knew she was pissed, but she thought that her sister had gotten mad at her only for breaking her glass rose.

Kasumi then realized what she had done and glared. "Like I care! You can fix that stupid rose yourself!" she said turning around to leave.

Her sister grabbed her and spun her around and slapped her hard across the face. "I’m not going to fix it, YOU have to fix it because you broke it!" She gave a hard shove at the girl and looked around the room. "And clean this mess up while you’re at it, little shit. I can’t believe you’re my sister anyway!"

Kasumi didn’t want to make matters worse, so she decided it was best to leave it at that. Nodding her head, she went into her sister’s room. She couldn’t believe that she got slapped over something stupid. It wasn’t her fault that she broke it.

In other times she would get angry and use the power that she couldn’t control; those were the only times she would use it the most. Every now and then she would have dreams of a past that was unknown to her, a past where she lived her life in Kyoto in the days of the Heian era. She could see herself falling off a cliff, being yelled at by a woman and such. Ever since she had seen the girl who was a part of her, things were difficult.

She stood before the other redheaded girl, who stared at her intently. It was almost as if time were going by slowly and the girl looked at her as though she were planning a plot for her other self.

"Why did you do those things throughout my life?" Kasumi said, breaking the silence.

Suzumi gazed at her as a smile formed on her lips. "Quite amusing, wasn’t it? A mortal like yourself needed my kind of powers. Seeing that you were a weak and lost little girl, I thought I could pull a thing or two. Nothing too severe."

Kasumi frowned and sighed. "But I don’t understand. Why and how did you become a part of me?"

At first Suzumi had said nothing but looked towards the colors that zoomed by her and Kasumi, waving her hand in the air. Then she gazed at her. "You want to know why you’re my reincarnation?" She hesitated for a moment, looking behind her. She pointed at a scene where she and her father were in her room. "This was one of the reasons why I ran away, and this is how I became a part of you." She turned away from the scene, shutting her eyes and sighing softly. An angered expression was on her face as she remained rooted in her spot and let Kasumi watch what had happened.

Kasumi watched carefully as she seen and heard what was going on. Suzumi’s father had told her that she was going to be married to Shigeru, and she refused to because of the way he was treating her.

"You’re always leaving with that damned woman and never have time for your own daughter," she snapped at him.

Yukinari shook his head and sighed. "Suzumi, you know how busy I am. I’m the leader of our clan, and it is my duty to guide them and protect them," he said.

"You have the hunters to protect them," she added.

"Yes, of course, but still I’m their leader. And you are my heir to guide them, Suzumi."

"I know, but I don’t see why I have to follow this whole arranged marriage to a person I barely know and love."

"It is tradition for you to do so, because you are almost of age. Now is a good time to choose a husband," Yukinari said, gazing at his daughter and smiling.

Suzumi wasn’t all too thrilled over this; nonetheless, she didn’t want it to end this way. "Well, if it is a tradition, then I might as well break it, because I refuse to go along with this," she said suddenly, her eyes beginning to glow.

"As your father, I won’t allow it, Suzumi. You will do as you are told--"

"And to be treated like a child and forced to do things without my consent? Is that what you want?!" Suzumi yelled. Her father could see in her eyes that she was going to unleash her powers. With a loud roar of thunder, the door broke open.

"No, I only want what’s best for you, I want you to be happy," Yukinari said.

"Well, doing things like that won’t make me happy, they'll only leave me miserable and angry!" With that said, Suzumi’s eyes glowed brighter as she had her father in a strong grasp. Holding him there for a matter of seconds, Suzumi glared at him. "Never will I forgive you for controlling my life and making it a living a hell. Ever since you married that woman, she has controlled you, but you are too blind to see it."

She hesitated for a moment and quickly extended her arm. A great force knocked Yukinari backwards, sending him a few feet away from his daughter’s door. The door flew back up and into place.

Kasumi stood there in awe and realized what happened to Suzumi. She turned and glanced at the girl. Suzumi lifted her head and nodded. "Now do you see why I had left my father and why I hate him so much?"

Kasumi nodded, "But the other thing is, how did you become a part of me? That's what I’m wondering about."

"I have no memory of what happened after I died. All I remember is that I ran away from home and jumped off the cliff. Then I waited to be reincarnated, but that took a couple of years for me to do. I finally became a part of you. You and I share the memories of our lives and troubles." she paused for a moment and laughed. "Of course, who would have guessed... a mortal and a vampire together in one body and two souls. That’s rather silly, wouldn’t you think?"

Kasumi smirked, not finding it amusing. "But let me ask you this. Was there any one you loved besides not having an interest in this Shigeru?"

Suzumi said nothing as if she didn’t want to remember. She sighed and nodded. "Yes, indeed I did."

Kasumi was a bit surprised. "Really, who was he?"

"His name was Takeshi, although I’m not exactly sure if he’s alive or not. But I am hoping he is," she said sadly.

Suzumi stood there for a moment, not saying a word. "Oto-san never knew of him. I never mentioned Takeshi because I knew there was going to be an arranged marriage for me," she said, looking at Kasumi. "Of course, I was going to be married to one of his hunters, and Takeshi wasn’t a hunter yet. He was one of the lower ranks of the army. I was hoping he would choose him, but he didn’t."

"Oh," Kasumi responded, thinking for a moment. "Why... Why did your father not spend any time with you... Suzumi?" she asked.

Suzumi just glared at the ground, clenching her hands into fists. "Because..." she began, hesitating for a moment. "Because he married this bitch that hated me and controlled my oto-san like a puppet without strings," she said, cursing under her breath.

Kasumi gave her an odd look and then asked, "Who was she?"

"She was a whore who was trying to control my oto-san and tried to get rid of me... Aya was her name... the only reason she married my oto-san is to be the next Nigousan. But she isn’t... I am supposed to be the Nigousan of Vampires..." Suzumi said.

"The... Nigousan of Vampires?" Kasumi repeated, not quite understanding. "Are... you supposed to be the heir and lead your people?"

Suzumi shook her head. "No, but it is something like that. A Nigousan is something like a goddess and a helper to the leader of a clan of Vampires. This has been in my father’s family for centuries. Since I am his only daughter, I have been chosen to become the Nigousan. Wives of the leader are not chosen to be the Nigousan, but the daughters are chosen. The Nigousan has to have a human to sacrifice to begin the process of helping her people."

Suzumi paused for a moment while Kasumi gave an odd look at what she had just said. Confusing yes, but she sort of understood.

The colors faded in the background and Suzumi looked around the area, she jerked her head behind her and then looked at Kasumi. "Sounds like they're coming..." With that said, she disappeared.

==============================================

Kasumi awoke when she found herself surrounded in darkness, lying in a bed. She sat up. Seeing that the door slid open, she had seen the man that had seen her in the café and the two people that chased her. She remained calm but she was frightened. she felt like screaming and running out of there as fast as she could but she knew she couldn’t escape.

Yukinari smiled at her. Sinking to his knees he embraced the girl and kissed her head. For a brief moment she didn’t know what to do. He pulled away from her with a soft smile. He had said nothing to her; she gazed at his face and quickly noticed the deeply cut scar on his right eye. She gave a silent gasp and with a trembled hand she gently touched it with her fingertips.

"You’re probably wondering who gave me this scar..." he said suddenly. He didn’t move or twitch when she touched his face. Kasumi hadn’t felt the need to say anything, since the man before her thought she was Suzumi.

With light glowing in her deep blue eyes, Suzumi responded, "Yes, I am... did you lose another battle or..." She pulled her hand away from his face. "...did you give this to yourself as your punishment because you lost it all, including yourself?" She gave him a wondering look.

Yukinari chuckled. "Actually I got it from an Angel from Gaia. She wasn’t very happy to hear what I wanted to do with her," he told her.

Suzumi raised an eyebrow, giving him a strange look. "I was hoping you’d say you cut your right eye because of what happened... but I was wrong."

"Well, you were close to the answer, Suzumi." Yukinari glanced at Mushashi and Kojiro, waving his hand. "Leave us. We have much to talk about..." he demanded.

The two nodded and turned to leave their leader with his daughter.

Yukinari looked at his daughter and sighed. "I’m glad you have come back, Suzumi... I was hoping you weren’t dead."

Well, I was dead but had come back to life... I’ll be dead to you, as I’ll ever be... I hate you! Suzumi had wanted to say that to him so badly, but she didn’t feel the need to say it, because if she did she would just piss him off and cause chaos. "Yes, but how I lived is a long story, oto-san..." she said. "But there has to be a reason why you want me back." She knew exactly why he wanted her back; she knew they would be looking for her through the years and would never give up until they found her. She knew all that before she threw herself off the cliff and died...

"I wanted you back because our people need you, Suzumi," he said, taking her hand and caressing the soft skin. She glanced down at her hand and then at his face.

"You must be the Nigousan... if you don’t help us... then we will all die," he said.

Suzumi pulled her hand away and with an angered expression shaking her head,

"No..." she said, "if I must become the Nigousan and help my people, what will happen after that? Will you send me off to marry one of your damn hunters or will you just shut me out of your life?"

"Suzumi, you are the only one who can help us. Help us to live on and fight, to keep the Japanese Vampires moving. That’s why there is the Nigousan--"

"Well, that’s why you have fangs and prey on humans! You don’t need a fucking Nigousan to help you and the people..." Suzumi crossed her arms and sighed. "I refuse to become the Nigousan--tradition or not, I want to live on my own terms!"

Yukinari was pissed; he didn’t feel like listening to her refuse to do anything. Bringing his hand back, he slapped the girl hard across the face. "You listen to me, you ungrateful little bitch! I won’t put up with your shit and you will do as I say whether you like it or not!"

Suzumi rubbed her cheek and glared at the man. "This was one of the reasons I ran away! I didn’t want to be controlled by you!" she yelled. "I’m not your doll to toy with, I’m your daughter... your descendant!"

Yukinari sat there, giving the girl a blank expression. "Well, if you say I control you, that means you don’t obey me and respect me like you should," he replied. Suzumi was silent for a moment; too angry to say any words, she just put her hand down and glared at him. Having nothing to say, Yukinari turned and opened the door and slammed it shut.

When she saw him leave, Suzumi grabbed her pillow and threw it at the door. "Damn you!" she screamed.

He stood outside her door. Hearing her scream and curse, he just avoided it and called forth his servants. "Mushashi, Kojiro!" Yukinari yelled.

The duo appeared and stood as a soldier would, waiting for their Sargent’s command. "What do you command, sir?" Mushashi questioned.

"Guard Suzumi’s room and make sure she doesn’t get out. I’m counting on you two..." he demanded, walking away from the two and disappeared from sight.

==============================================

"Yes, sir, if you’re asking about the boy, we have him locked up and we should proceed with the Gathering," Shurii replied.

"Good, very good," Yukinari murmured. He continued walking with Shurii at his side.

"Sir... what about Suzumi? Did she agree to become the Nigousan?"

"Not quite, my friend, but I’m forcing her to. There’s nothing else I can do for my people. She’s the only one who can help us."

Shurii thought for a moment. Seeing they were approaching the doors, he opened them and sighed. "Yukinari-sama, if you think there’s nothing else we can do for our race... then you turn to your daughter for help?"

Yukinari scoffed. "Yes, that was my only option... I don’t know what to do anymore..."

Don’t lose hope, sir. We can get through this."

Yukinari smiled at Shurii. "I hope you’re right. But I will have faith in myself and everyone. I won’t lose myself over something like this."

When they reached the main room, the doors flung open with Yukinari and Shurii entering. The room was large filled with people; the Hunters sat in two rows dressed in their armor and traditional wear. Their uniforms were like of a Samurai’s uniform and with their swords and bows drawn behind their backs: whenever they went into battle they could easily draw their weapons from behind and fight. The Guests sat in rows of four and they wore clothes from the Heian era, when the Japanese Vampires first appeared on the face of the Earth.

Walking on the tatami mat, Yukinari made his way to his seat; all of this reminded him of the days when he was younger and when his father was leader. To him it felt good to be home. He had abandoned his castle years after Suzumi had left, and he moved to Tokyo to start a new life for his people and himself. Although it never really worked out as he wanted it to, he was happy.

One of the Hunters approached him, a tall man who had short red hair. His name was Shigeru, and he was one of the upper ranks of the Army. Not only was he the best among the other upper-classmen, but he had also been chosen by Yukinari to marry Suzumi. Bowing, he smiled at his leader. "Yukinari-sama, I have heard rumors that your daughter Suzumi has returned... is it true?" he asked.

"Indeed it is, Shigeru," he replied. "Do you still wish to marry her?"

Shigeru nodded. "Of course, sir. As always, it has been an honor and a privilege to do so," he said with a smile.

"I’m pleased to hear you say that, Shigeru. Now will you run an errand for me? Tell one of the Hunters who are guarding the prisoner to bring him forth."

"Yes, sir."

Shigeru bowed and left to give his leader’s commands. Yukinari called for three maidens; the three women were human, but they were under Yukinari's influence.

"What do you command, Yukinari-sama?" questioned the first woman who bowed slightly. Her eyes were a gray color, her hair light blonde.

Yukinari pointed towards the doors. "I want you to prepare Suzumi for the Gathering, I expect her to be here tonight for her to become the Nigousan," he demanded.

The women nodded, stepping away from their leader. "Yes, sir," they said and left.

==============================================

Through the clear large window, a woman stood to look out upon the old castle that was once hers. Her crystal blue eyes sparkled as she smirked at the castle--it seemed as if she were going to blow it up with just a snap of her fingers. She stood in a large floating castle that sailed across the starry sky, it hovered over the old castle, large enough to cover up the Moon.

She sighed as she felt a presence near her. A man with light green hair pulled her close to him, wrapping his arms around her slim body. She smiled as she lifted her arms up and wrapped them around his neck.

"Are you sure this is it?" he asked softly, whispering into her ear.

"Of course it is, koiishi. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t here. He has no where else to go but isolate himself from the world," she replied.

This woman was tall with a slender figure. She had long blonde hair, and her blue eyes sparkled like stars filled with charm and beauty... but don’t let that fool you because she can be a very aggressive one. She had a long red dress that was a design of women’s Chinese Qipao. On the dress was a golden tiger wrapped around the red velvet fabric. She wore all sorts of diamond bracelets and necklaces, including earrings. On her forehead was a red tear-shaped symbol. The symbol represented her race, a rare race that wasn’t mentioned among the human and various races but had formed long after the Japanese Vampires first appeared. Each member of this unknown race have their own shape and color to represent, although not many are included because this is such a small race.

The man holding the woman was the leader, tall and very handsome. He had short light-green hair and deep blue eyes; he wore an outfit that one would expect from an Emperor of the Ancient Dynasty eras. The robes he wore were blue, red, and orange, with an orange dragon on the back of his robe. He too had the symbol that was two green triangles.

The woman then smiled, laughing a bit and turning around to face the man before her. "We shall wait a little longer, and then we will launch our attack," she told him.

The man gave her a reassuring look. "Do you think it is wise to wait rather than to attack now and get it over with?" he asked.

The blonde-haired woman shook her head. "No, but I want to plan a sneak attack on the old bastard... he won’t know what hit him."

The man then understood and smirked. "Then I shall await your command since you were the one who had wanted to do this."

"Trust me, I know this will work," she said, turning around to gaze down at the castle once more. She whispered under her breath, "Just you wait, Yukinari. I’ll have you dead before you can get to your feet."

==============================================

He had awakened from his sleep. His eyes hurt and he was exhausted from the lack of sleep. Strange looking men dressed like Samurai were pushing him around and beating him, asking him questions and just beating him to a pulp when he did not give the correct answer. All he remembered was that they asked something about a girl named Suzumi and how he knew her; he told them he didn’t know what they were talking about.

"Nisemono!" they would call him and punch him square in the jaw or threaten to kill him. But he wasn’t lying... he didn’t know anything at all.

Satoshi was back in the cold dark dungeon again. He had been in here for almost a day now, and they were already beating the shit out of him. His clothes were torn, and he had bruises on his face. Sighing, he said aloud, "What did I do to deserve this?"

He tried rising to his feet but he couldn’t get up: his hands were chained to the wall and he couldn’t move around very much. As if he were expecting an answer to his question, the door flung open and three hunters entered. The first one grabbed his arm while the other grabbed his other arm: they both dragged him. The third one said to him in a raspy tone, "You will be the sacrifice tonight for the Nigousan."

Satoshi was being dragged by his arms, and he didn’t quite understand. "Sacrifice? What do you mean?! Am I gonna be turned into a vampire like you guys?!" he cried.

The hunter chuckled. "You’ll find out when you get there."

Satoshi didn’t feel the need to ask questions. He figured he was going to die anyway. A few moments later he was lifted to his feet and carried through two double doors, where he saw a large room filled with people. He suddenly felt like he took a trip back through time: they were all dressed in the styles of the old Japanese Eras that he read about in his history courses.

He gazed at a woman with long black hair, her skin pale and her eyes narrowed at Satoshi. She hissed at him like a snake ready to bite. He quickly turned his eyes away and looked straight ahead. Soon he heard talk among the crowd, he just ignored them. Looking ahead, he saw two rows of Hunters dressed in the Samurai armor and uniform. Ahead of them sat a man with gray hair and a long scar on his right eye. He wore a long black robe much like Count Dracula’s cloak only in a different way and design. Next to him was a man dressed in a blue uniform, similar to the men who were servants to an Emperor. He too had gray hair and dark brown eyes; he stared straight at Satoshi like he was giving him an innocent look of apology.

Satoshi stopped when he was a few feet away from the man with the scar. He tried showing no fear, but he was trembling. The man gave him a wicked smile. He spoke in a voice of kindness, but his face did not show it. "Why do you tremble with fear, my boy, there’s nothing to be afraid of..." said Yukinari with reassurance.

Satoshi didn’t know what to say--all he had on his mind was that Kasumi was okay. He had a feeling she wasn’t. "Come forth so I can look at you," Yukinari spoke again, with his index finger curling, urging the young man to come close.

Satoshi remained rooted in his spot. After a few moments of hesitation, one of the Hunters gave him a hard shove forward. Almost falling over, Satoshi was able to keep his balance; he lifted his head up and gazed at the man. Now he was really frightened. Looking at the old man, the only thing he had on his mind was trying to get out of here or die. He didn’t know why they took him and Kasumi. Now he wished this had never happened.

With enough courage to speak, Satoshi asked in a low tone of voice, "What have you done with Kasumi?"

At first Yukinari gave the boy a strange look and then remembered. He smiled again and had his gaze locked onto his. "You mean Suzumi, my daughter? She is fine, but she is being... quite difficult at the moment and she should be here shortly," he responded.

"Daughter?" Satoshi repeated, confused. "What do you mean... she’s your daughter?"

Yukinari nodded. "Indeed she is. Throughout all these years, I have been searching for her. Now, at the brink of the fading of my people, I need her as my pawn to try and keep my people alive." He rose from his seat. Within the blink of an eye he appeared behind Satoshi, whispering in his ear. "She will be the people’s savior, and you will be the first she feeds on."

Satoshi was startled at the sound of his voice and then he turned around to face him.

"So don’t even think about trying to run away... she has a power that even I, the leader of my people, cannot control," Yukinari said with a cautious look. He sat back down in his seat and sighed. "What else do you wish to know? I can see there are questions floating in that human mind of yours."

Satoshi thought this was all strange. He never knew Vampires existed, Japanese that is. He thought it was all a lie, a fake story, an old made up myth. But those had seemed to be true. "How--how did you and your people come to existence? I thought Vampires were just made up stories to scare people," Satoshi asked.

Yukinari chuckled. "That’s a good question. Now I see that humans are stupid beings when it comes to Vampires," he murmured. "It is a long story on how we came to be. Maybe a ampire from England formed us, but we are very much different from a Western Vampire. They are sensitive to the sunlight and can be killed in some ways, while we Eastern types are not sensitive to the light and we can handle things that the Western cannot."

"So there are basically two different type of Vampires: Western and Eastern?" Satoshi said, not quite understanding.

"No, there are others. There are thousands of races out there in the world, and we all have our own things we can’t handle. But humans top the number of Vampires. That is why so many of us are fading and dying," Yukinari replied.

"Before anything happens to me, tell me who are you and what you do... because I’m now just learning that Vampires... do exist," said Satoshi, now feeling a little uneasy.

Yukinari smirked. "Very well, I shall tell you." He paused for a second, then continued. "My name is Yukinari Ookido. I am the leader of the Japanese Vampires of all Japan. I have the authority and the power of a human President that controls its country and people."

Satoshi stood there silent, not saying a word. Yukinari gazed down at the young man. "Now that you know a little from what I told you," he said, "you tell me who you are and how you know my daughter."

Satoshi stood, thinking for a moment. "My name’s Satoshi. I live in Tokyo. I know your daughter as my friend, Kasumi," he told Yukinari.

The man with the scar thought for a moment, thinking of how Suzumi is this boy’s friend and trying to piece this together. "Let me ask you a question," Yukinari said. "Was there anything strange that had happened to Kasumi... had she ever had this strange glow in her eyes or used some sort of power to move things without her hands?"

Satoshi gave him a puzzled look. "No, not that I have seen when I first met her," he replied. "But just yesterday she did everything you said. Telepathy is what I think it’s called."

Yukinari gave an interested look. "Interesting..." he murmured. "What do you know of telepathy, Satoshi?" he questioned.

"Telepathy... its some sort of super power, something from the unconscious mind. I never knew anything like that existed until now... is that what your daughter has? Telepathy?" Satoshi said, a little dumbfounded.

Yukinari nodded. "Yes, but I don’t have Telepathy. Suzumi got it from her mother; her mother had a long line of telepathic power. Suzumi is a very aggressive person; she uses her telepathy when she’s angry, especially with me."

Satoshi stood rooted in his spot, pondering and wondering about Suzumi. She was the one who tried fighting off those two people without a weapon. He noticed quickly that Suzumi was using telepathy. Only he didn’t know it was Suzumi.

"So this basically means that my friend Kasumi is Suzumi... and that somehow they are both linked to together in some sort of weird way?" Satoshi asked, confused.

"Well, for that question I do not know, but we might as well ask Suzumi about that, shouldn’t we?" Yukinari said. Waving his hand, he commanded Satoshi to be removed from his sight. "It was nice talking to you, Satoshi, but we must begin the Gathering," he said, smiling.

Satoshi nodded, bowing slightly. He was dragged away from the man with the scar.

==============================================

Suzumi gazed at herself in the mirror, sighing as she tucked a strand of red hair behind her left ear. She had her hair up in two ponytails with ornaments hanging from her clips; she wore a red kimono with golden cherry blossoms on it.

She gazed at the three women who had prepared her for the Gathering; she waved her hand and spoke in a soft voice. "Go, wait for me outside... I wish to have a few moments alone," she told them. They had said nothing and did as she commanded.

The door slid shut and she was alone in her room. Rubbing the red spot on her cheek, she cursed her father for slapping her. She didn’t feel like going along with this, but she had no choice.

Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted when she felt two arms wrap around her shoulders. She looked in the mirror, then looked up. A man with a red Gi and red pants with a red bandana wrapped around his head smiled at the girl. "You startled me, Takeshi," she said to him.

The man named Takeshi's smile grew wider as he bent down to kiss her lips. "I’m sorry for scaring you like that, but I heard some of the men talking about your return. So I had to come see you." he replied. Takeshi was tall, a very lean sort of figure, more of an athletic build. He had spiky brown hair, and his eyes were slanted, almost like he had his eyes closed. Underneath his Gi were bandages wrapped around his chest and stomach and some around his arms. He wasn’t a hunter, only of the lower rank. He was undergoing the training of being a Ninja. He had fallen in love with Suzumi years before she left. Takeshi and Suzumi's relationship was like any other, when one got on your nerves and wouldn’t leave you alone.

"Give me a kiss and I’ll leave you alone," he told her one day when they first met. At that time he was only fourteen and she was twelve.

Suzumi blushed madly, shaking her head. "Why should I, since you’ve been bugging me all day?" she questioned, embarrassed. "If my Oto-san finds out about this, I won’t be able to go outside by myself! I’ll have to have one of the old maids look after me."

Takeshi smiled. He leaned in closer to the little girl and whispered to her lips, "How can anyone find out when it can be just between us?" His lips brushed against hers.

It only lasted a few moments. Then she opened her eyes, and that strange glow appeared. Through her telepathic power, she lifted the young boy and threw him in the fishpond near the garden. He yelped before he hit the water, and he lay in the water with his clothes soaked. Suzumi just laughed at him.

"Is this your way of playing hard to get?" he asked her.

Suzumi shook her head. "No, you just need to learn how to treat a girl and not just going at a fast pace to get what you want." she told him. He just smirked at her and sighed, shaking his head and shrugging, splashing the water when he let his arms drop.

"How did you get pass the maids out there anyway?" she asked him.

He smiled again at her. "Very carefully, Suzumi, very carefully."

"I’m not even going to guess how you did it," she murmured. "But about those rumors that’s going around... what do they say?"

"All they say is that you’ve returned and that you can finally save us all and become the Nigousan."

Suzumi sighed. "I don’t want to become the Nigousan and I don’t want to be here," she said in a harsh tone.

"Why? Is it because of all the attention or is it because of your..." Takeshi paused and then nodded.

"That’s exactly why. He only wanted me back so that I can ‘save everyone’," Suzumi replied.

Takeshi just smiled at her again and kissed her. "I thought you were really gone and I wasn’t going to see you again. I’m glad you’re back," he told her.

Suzumi rose from her spot as she gazed at the door and then at Takeshi. She held his hand and squeezed it tightly. "So am I, but you can’t stay here long. The Gathering will begin in a few minutes. As much as I don’t want to go, I have to, for my oto-san... and everyone."

He had said nothing but look in her deep blue eyes. "You are like a puppet on strings, and you want to be free. He controls those strings, but I can set you free," he said softly, kissing her cheek and then down to her neck.

"Only I control my own strings. And he doesn’t have any power over me. I have that power," whe said with a smile, kissing his face and running his fingers through his spiky-hair.

Takeshi inhaled the scent of skin, the sweet smell of lavender and honeydew. Underneath that lay her blood, rushing through her veins. He could take her right now if he wanted. But he knew that wasn’t an option, for they both had to go to the Gathering. Yet deep inside his heart he could hear himself screaming and begging to take her; he could get a taste of her sweet blood and her voice calling out his name. He held her in his arms, still kissing her, his sharp fangs nipping at her neck, Giving her a hint that he wanted her, that he wanted her so badly.

As if she could read his mind, Suzumi smiled. Pulling away from the young man she shook her head. "Now is not the time," she told him.

"Everyone can wait. I don’t care if we get caught. The only thing that matters now is that I’m with you... we’ve been away from each other too long," Takeshi responded, pulling her close to him and kissing her.

"But there are people who depend on me... even if this is a stupid matter to me, my people are depending on me... or so my oto-san says." Suzumi pulled away again, she looked in the mirror to fix her hair a bit, then she spun around to gaze at him again. She sighed, and with a weak smile on her face she spoke. "I must do what I have to do, and that is to ‘save my people’."

"Then do it if you must," Takeshi answered, smiling.

Suzumi nodded. In her mind she wanted to run away and let her people die, but she knew she couldn’t do that. The door slid open and the three women stood waiting for the Nigousan, walking down the hallway and out of sight.

Takeshi stood there in her room for a moment or two. With a sigh he disappeared into thin air like a candle flickering out. He was fazed about his beloved. He worried about what would become of her, but he knew in his heart that she was a strong woman.

==============================================

Passing through the doors, Suzumi stood rooted in her spot before she made her entrance. Cherry blossom petals surrounded her as she made her way through the crowd. She could hear cheers and cries of her name, but she avoided them, shutting them out from her mind: she had just wanted to get this over with. Gazing at her oto-san, she gave him a glare. With a flicker of her blue eyes glowing a small gust of wind blew.

Yukinari knew she was mad at him, but he didn’t care one bit because he was getting a free ride into saving his race. Or so he had thought.

Standing a few feet away from Yukinari, Suzumi bowed as her ornaments made jingling sounds. She lifted her head up and turned around to face the crowd. "I have returned," she spoke aloud, "to claim my place as Nigousan, the heir of Yukinari Ookido."

The crowd was in an uproar as they cheered. In the girl’s heart, she felt like she was lying to her people. She wanted to scream, to run away, something to escape this. As much as she cared for her people, she didn’t feel like being a part of the Gathering. She blamed all of this on her father. She turned to gaze at him. He smiled at her giving the expression that seemed to say, "You better keep at it, and if you fail, I won’t claim you as my daughter."

Shurii stood up, looking towards Satoshi and then at Suzumi. He spoke aloud, "The Gathering shall now begin, but first a few words from our leader, Yukinari-sama." He sat back down, bowing slightly.

Yukinari rose from his spot. "Bring forth the prisoner," he demanded.

The hunters brought Satoshi forward, making him stand next to Suzumi. He gazed at her and noticed that she was alright. He knew Kasumi was in there somewhere, but he couldn’t say anything right now.

Suzumi took one quick look at the young boy standing next to her. Turning her head, she whispered, "Don’t worry, she’s fine." Satoshi gazed at her again and nodded. "But I’m not so sure about you..." she added, smiling and revealing her sharp fangs.

Yukinari looked at the two, Suzumi and Satoshi. "Suzumi," he said, the redhead gazing at him. "Before we begin, let me ask you a few questions..."

I hope you don’t ask me about why I ran away... she thought, her eyes narrowing at him.

"There were things I heard, that you are... somehow linked to a mortal. Tell me... how is that so?" Yukinari asked his daughter, sneering.

Suzumi thought for a moment, this was difficult to explain because she didn’t know how it came to be. "Oto-san, that I do not know... it is hard to explain," she responded.

Yukinari figured she didn’t want to tell him. "Is it now? But truly you must know, Suzumi," he said.

The girl gritted her teeth, "I told you... I... don’t... know," she said in an angered tone. "All I know is that I’m a part of her as she is to me. We are two souls that share one body. That is all I can tell you," she told him.

"You mean she is your other half, or a split personality?"

Suzumi shook her head. "No, more like a reincarnation." Yukinari nodded, thinking they finally were getting somewhere.

"Oto-san... why must I become the Nigousan? It’s pointless!" she yelled. She didn’t want to hold back any more.

Yukinari glared at her. "You are my daughter and you are the Nigousan! Do as I say or I’ll disown you!" he snapped.

"Go ahead... disown me... I was never your daughter in the first place... Watashi daikirai jijo!" she shouted.

Yukinari approached her, slapping her across the face again. "Iikikasu!" he demanded.

Suzumi glared at him. She didn’t want to fight back or else she’d embarrass him. She decided to do what he commanded her to do.

With the sound of drums beating and singers chanting, the Sacrifice was about to begin. Looking at Satoshi, she sighed. Satoshi gazed at her as if he were begging her not to kill him. She wished for a miracle to happen right about now; she really didn’t want to do this, even if she had to. Her deep blue eyes glowed a light color. Her arms spread open, and she embraced the young man.

Satoshi couldn’t move, his whole body frozen. He could hear her say something in his ear. "Gomen nasai," she whispered. She tilted his head to the side, examining his neck and then giving him one last look. She opened her mouth, ready to bite his neck.

"Don’t do this... don’t... don’t..." he whispered, begging her not to. But she had no choice; she didn’t like it either, but she had no choice.

Then, as if her wish had come true, the music suddenly stopped. Feeling a rumble beneath her feet, she stopped. Looking up, she heard the sound getting louder.

"What the hell?" Yukinari said, confused by the sudden interruption.

The ceiling was torn off as men dressed in armor landed in the center and stood waiting. More came down as they waited for their leader and mistress. Finally two figures jumped from the ceiling, a woman and a man. The woman with blonde hair smiled at Yukinari, and the man sneered at him.

Yukinari gasped, looking at the woman standing before him. "Aya..." he muttered, shocked.

Suzumi glared at the woman. What the hell is she doing here? she thought, her eyes glowing.

Fal's note: No I'm not very good at my japanese! ><'' I think as I looked back on the last few chapters I wrote, I made a mistake that Suzumi isn't Telepathic but she's telekinesis. I just realized that when I found out by doing some research. :embarass:

Yeah I will, so if any of you wanna see my fanart here's a few links to them. :-D And yes, BJ you will get see chapter three on here soon. ;-)

Yukinari and Hanako - a pencil sketch of Yukinari and Hanako. I did Yukinari from Toshiro Ono's style from the manga, he was sort of hard to draw...but he turned out alright and so did Hanako. ^_^

Hanako - a pic I did of Hanako, I wish I could've drawn the wings but didn't. Too lazy to draw the feet and ummm...yeah. ^^;;

Crawl - A pic of Aya and Yukinari with the lyrics from Staind's song, Crawl.

I think that's all I gotta show, go check out the rest at RG's site. :D I'm working on some more as I'm writing the chapters. Right now I'm struggling with chapter four to get it finished. ~_~ Wish me luck people...

Chapter Three: Jirarudan's Wrath

Of Angels and Vampires
Chapter Three
Jirarudan's Wrath

By Fallon

==============================================

Hanako sighed heavily as she stood in front of her army of winged-warriors. She was back on Gaia, a small planet yet filled with lots of people. It was one of the most beautiful places that no one has ever seen a place where there were gardens of flowers, trees, and animals running about--it was almost like heaven.

She stood now in the Grand hall, a place for holding meetings and gatherings. This place and its people were very much like the Greeks, following the history and mythology of ancient Greece, but there were different ethnic groups that lived on Gaia. Hanako was Japanese and General of the Army. She was chosen General when their former General had died during the first battle with the Vampires. Being next in line for the General's title, Hanako took the General’s staff to claim her title. Though she did not ever regret that she became General, it was a very difficult job.

However, she had a helping hand with all the issues and the training and such in her assistant, Leiko. An intelligent and a well-collected person, a woman with glistening light blue neck-length hair and deep blue eyes, she stayed at the General’s side at all times. Leiko was known a strong warrior, a great archer with quick speed and ability. She treated the General with great respect and loyalty. She was a perfect soldier to others, but those close to Leiko had said that she never smiled nor cried. Now she sat beside Hanako, eyeing the crowd with a blank expression.

Hanako addressed the crowd in a clear voice. "I call this meeting to order to discuss the Japanese Vampires."

"General, we should do something about those creatures. Instead of just fighting them, we should kill them all!" one of the women shouted, standing up.

"I know all of you are getting impatient and upset about this, but we will do something about them," Hanako replied over the large crowd.

"Well, you say we will do something, but when?!" shouted another. This was one of the parts that Hanako hated about being General of one huge army: trying to discuss issues with everyone disagreeing and nit-picking at every little thing. For a while now she had spent her time training; discussing issues was the most stressful part.

"If we choose to kill them, we will lose in the process, since we don’t know how many there are now. They might’ve repopulated faster over the last ten years," Hanako responded.

The General's words brought chattering and murmur from the crowd of soldiers. "The Vampires are weak! They can’t do anything else but take the lives of mortals!" a woman yelled, standing up and raising her sword in the air. "It’s useless to talk! Talking is wasting our time! I say we just go and fight!"

"Silence!" Hanako barked, and the room went quiet. "I know almost all of you want to fight, but I won’t risk losing all of you--depending on how much of an army Yukinari has. I have no more options but to go and attack. Whether it’s a life or death situation, we shall go." She spoke over the silent crowd; her commanding gaze ordered them to be quiet while she was speaking. "So with much anticipation, as your General, I am calling an at-arms. We shall launch our attack at my command," she said. Cheers had filled the room, but Hanako felt like she had made a huge and stupid mistake.

As she stepped down, Leiko gazed at the auburn-haired woman with her deep blue eyes. "Do you think that was a wise decision, ma’am?" she spoke in a soft yet serious tone.

Hanako shook her head and sighed. "I don’t know, Leiko... but I do hope it will do us some good. I think I've just made a mistake, but I hope things will not go as I think they will."

"Whatever happens, we will manage to pull through," Leiko responded.

Hanako nodded. "I hope so... but still I have a feeling this isn’t going to be right. This might be worse than the last few times we’ve encountered Yukinari and his clan of Vampires."

==============================================

The woman with blonde hair smiled devilishly at Yukinari, her blue eyes gazing around her as she saw Japanese Vampires hissing and cursing at her. Looks like they still remember me... she thought, her eyes narrowing.

"Long time no see, Yukinari!" she spoke suddenly.

The growls and hisses from the crowd grew louder. They were all on the verge of attacking her, but Yukinari held out his hand, signaling to them to wait. He glared at Aya, rooted in his spot with his fist clenched. "Why do you disturb the Gathering, what is it that you want?" he asked with a low growl, stepping closer towards her but standing a few feet away from her. She still looked and acted the same in his mind, her attitude and personality all the same. But now she had a red tear-shaped symbol on her forehead and wore a red dress that looked as if it came from the Chinese culture. He wondered how she had turned from Japanese to Chinese when she was Japanese in her ethnicity.

Aya noticed that anger was building up inside him--she could tell by the look on his face. But she ignored it and smiled from ear to ear like a pleased demon.

"I’m surprised you managed to crawl out of your little shell, Yukinari. I thought I would come to Kyoto to pay you a visit and see if you were still locked up in your room," she said, chuckling, moving towards him. Then, in a blink of an eye, she whispered softly in his ear. "And drowning in your depression like the fool that you already are."

Yukinari quickly sprang back, startled by her sudden words. Her blue eyes, now inches away from him, gazed at him with a cold but evil stare. "I’m standing here now, aren’t I? Guiding and serving my people, trying to keep them alive," he growled, furrowing his brow as he gazed at the crowd, then at Aya.

She threw her head back, laughing. "Please, Yukinari. When I left years ago, I predicted you’d be a tortured lost soul... a fallen leader. But it is true--and, I must say, somewhat surprising--that you are still alive and serving your people." Aya paused for a moment, gazing at the crowd and then at the Hunters. In the corner of her eye, she saw a redheaded girl. Could it be? she wondered as she quickly looked at Suzumi.

The redhead was raging, with fury in her deep blue eyes, her teeth gritted, and her fist clenched. Her eyes glowed a light blue color with hatred for that woman who was near her father. Suzumi hated her more than she hated her own father.

Aya just flashed an evil grin at the young girl and focused her attention on Yukinari. "And I see that your daughter has returned... to claim her place as Nigousan, I presume? That should’ve been mine. I should have power and authority over you and your people, Yukinari," she murmured.

Suzumi growled as she brought her hand forth. Takeshi put his hand on her shoulder and shook his head. "This is just between Yukinari-sama and Aya, koishii," he told her.

She looked at him for a moment, then sighed. Her eyes slowly began to lose their glow. "You’re right... but the bitch will face my wrath if she messes with me."

"That only goes to the daughters and not the wives! You can never become Nigousan as the wife of the leader! And you sure as hell know it!" Yukinari snapped at Aya.

Aya glared at him, her symbol on her forehead glowing a violent color of red. "It’s true that I knew that only the daughters were chosen, but I was jealous of Suzumi... I wanted the power that Suzumi possesses!" she shouted, not caring what she said in her anger.

"So is this why you came all the way back? Just to tell me that you wanted to be Nigousan and not my daughter?" Yukinari questioned, a little shocked.

"Maybe so..." Aya responded.

For a brief moment there was silence. Suzumi had wanted to go up to Aya and kick her ass while she still had the chance, but the silence was broken when Aya spoke again.

"But no matter, that doesn’t concern me anymore, Yukinari." She backed away from the Vampire Lord, bowing slightly with a smile. "I would like to introduce you to the Chinese Vampire Lord," she said.

Yukinari just gave her a puzzled look. He had not known of any other Asian Vampire Lord.

"May I introduce you to Lord Jirarudan. The leader of a new form of Chinese Vampires," she said, stepping out of the way to reveal the Chinese Lord. There stood a tall and handsome man, with short light-green hair and light violet-colored eyes.

Jirarudan regarded Yukinari seriously. He seemed a lot younger than Yukinari, and he appeared to be a young powerful Chinese Emperor. Wearing long robes from the ancient days in early China, colors of orange and blue with a reddish-orange dragon on the back of his robes. He approached the Japanese leader and he took one gaze at Aya, speaking in a soft voice like the sound of wind chimes ringing on a cool breeze. "Stop with your childish games, Aya. We have more important matters than discussing the past," he ordered.

Aya nodded, bowing slightly again. "Yes, my Lord," she murmured and smiled at him.

With a bow, Jirarudan turned his attention towards Yukinari. "Greetings, Lord Yukinari," he said softly, smiling with his eyes shut. "I am Jirarudan, Lord of the Chinese Vampires."

Yukinari had never heard of any of Vampire races other than Western and Japanese Vampires. The knowledge of this new race shocked him--this was his first time encountering a Chinese Vampire. He bowed slightly to the younger man. "Pleased to meet you, Jirarudan-sama. As you know, I am Yukinari, lord of the Japanese Vampires," he said with a calm expression. This Jirarudan’s appearance was quite unique. The symbols on his forehead were two green triangular shapes that seemed to glow a light green color. Although were everything he had seen him dressed in was fancy, and compared to Yukinari's clothes, Jirarudan seemed rich.

"I’m sure you have many questions in your mind that you are wanting to ask," Jirarudan said, giving him a reassuring glance of understanding.

Yukinari said nothing for a moment. "Yes, I’m wondering about you and your--" He paused for a moment to glance at Jirarudan’s group of Vampire soldiers. "Race of Chinese Vampires," he finished.

"Ah, my race. We refer to it as a clan, because we are so small and rare. You Japanese Vampires are still a bigger race. It is quite difficult to explain how we came to be, Lord Yukinari," Jirarudan said, looking at his band of soldiers. "For you see, I only have an army and few large groups of people. Not much of a race or a clan, you would say, but they can all fit into my floating fortress." The man pointed his index finger up towards the large hole in the ceiling, revealing his large floating fortress.

Yukinari just stared at it in awe, amazed both at how the large object could get around and that a race such as Jirarudan’s could develop something like a floating fortress.

The man standing before Yukinari could see the amazement in his expression. He smiled as if he were pleased. "Amazing, isn’t it? It seems as though it took years to build, but not very long. It turned out nicely built and developed, if I say so myself."

Amazing it was, but Yukinari still thought it would be better to stick to the old traditional ways rather than going along with the world and developing new things and keep them updated year by year. "I have never seen anything such as this," Yukinari muttered, turning his attention to Jirarudan now.

Jirarudan was pleased, but he had just remembered that he didn’t come here to talk. "Indeed, Yukinari," he smiled, backing away from the Japanese Vampire and his soldiers with weapons drawn and ready to attack. "I would love to chat with you, but I’ve got things to do."

Yukinari didn’t know what he had met but then he realized that Aya had come back to kill him. It was obvious from the soldiers and her devilish smile that she would soon claim victory.

Suzumi dashed towards her father, standing in front of him with her arms spread out as if she were protecting him, her blue eyes glowing furiously. Jirarudan just smiled. "So this is the daughter that I had heard about, the one with the telepathic powers... protecting her father?" he said.

Suzumi glared. "That I am," she responded, eyes narrowing at him. "I have no concern for you, Jirarudan-sama. But you stand in my path to kill that woman." Suzumi glared at Aya.

Jirarudan chuckled, "Then that means you stand in my path to kill your father," he replied. Suzumi just ignored him.

Yukinari furrowed his brow, speaking in a low voice. "Suzumi, I don’t want you to do this."

Suzumi just shook her head. "No, that bitch is mine. I’m going to pay her back for what she did to us. She just can’t simply walk out of your life and come back just to kill you." She then appeared before Aya. With a quick extending of her hand, she knocked her flat on her back and out her sword. She slashed at the woman’s head but missed when Aya rolled out of the way. Suzumi noticed the symbol on Aya’s forehead began to glow scarlet red.

Aya grabbed a soldier’s sword. With her symbol glowing, she felt like she was drawing power and speed. She charged towards Suzumi.

Their swords clashed, pushing together. Aya had more strength as she tried throwing the redhead off guard. "Stupid little girl! You think you can defeat me with your powers? I’m far stronger than you!" she yelled.

Suzumi glared. "That’s what you think!" She shoved the woman, sending her flying through the air and knocking her against the wall. Suzumi sprang back, glancing at Aya, waiting for her to attack. She held out her sword and her right hand at her side.

Aya slowly rose from her spot as she laughed insanely, dust clearing from her sight revealing her figure, gazing at Suzumi. "So you wish to fight me?" she questioned; Suzumi sneered at her. The woman just smirked. "So be it!" she yelled, dashing towards the girl with her demonic speed. Their duel began, with their swords clashing together and crashing through walls to have more space to fight.

Satoshi watched the fight between the two. He still couldn’t believe this was happening to him. First I was almost turned into a Vampire for a sacrifice, and now this whole thing about killing Yukinari-sama! What’s next? he thought, sighing. He glanced over at a man in a red bandanna who had his eyes fixated on Suzumi. He seemed liked he was worried about her.

Takeshi didn’t know what to think. Suzumi could be killed or injured, but in his mind he knew she was a strong person. He glanced briefly at the mortal next to him, not deigning to give him one expression or word for a while. He concentrated upon the battle.

Satoshi didn’t want to say anything, so he too turned his attention back to the fight. As much as he was worried about Suzumi, he was more worried about Kasumi, who was still a part of Suzumi.

Jirarudan noticed the fight, but kept his eyes fixed on Yukinari. The two leaders stood rooted in their spots. A brief moment of silence passed over them as they heard the distant sounds of swords clashing and clanging, of the two women cursing each other in Japanese.

"I guess this is an odd encounter, and I do apologize for interrupting your Gathering," Jirarudan said, breaking the silence. "But I must do what I came here for." He waved his hand, signaling his soldiers ready to attack. "And that is to dismember you, for no other reason than you are standing in my way of getting what I want," Jirarudan said, smirking.

"And what is it that you want... more power?" Yukinari replied, glaring.

The light-green haired man just chuckled. "No, Aya wants you dead, and I guess I’m just going to be the one to do it. But yes, I do want power. I just need to get rid of you."

"Well, we’ll see who can survive first!" Yukinari yelled, signaling his hunters to attack. The hall rang with the sounds of battle: the clangs of swords and arrows whizzing by, shooting down hunters and soldiers.

The two leaders attacked, drawing their swords and trying to slice at each other. Yukinari had more speed than Jirarudan. He appeared behind the younger man, taking a blow to the back and knocking Jirarudan face forward. Yukinari’s sword sliced at his back and stabbed him in the left shoulder, letting it sit there for a quick moment before pulling it out. Jirarudan screamed in pain from his wound. Clutching at his left shoulder, he quickly stood on his feet. With a quick leap forward, Jirarudan clashed his sword with Yukinari’s and shoved him backwards. Jirarudan’s symbol began to glow a light color of green. Blood thickened as it ran down his arm and his clothes of his left shoulder. He winced in pain at the open wound but continued on fighting.

Yukinari stood his ground with his feet rooted to the floor. His brow furrowed, and then he gave a low growl charging forward. Jirarudan ran towards the Japanese Vampire, their swords aiming for each other’s throats but clashed together. Yukinari swung his sword at Jirarudan and cut his arm, then stepped back, hesitating for Jirarudan's attack. The Chinese Vampire just smirked and ignored his second wound. He ran towards Yukinari again and lunged forward, trying to stab him in the stomach. But Yukinari was too quick.

"Will you quit dodging and let me kill you?!" Jirarudan screamed, swinging his sword at Yukinari’s head.

Yukinari just moved out of the way. "If you could get a good glance, then you could kill me. Or am I too fast for you? You haven’t even touched me yet."

"I wouldn’t say that if I were you, Lord Yukinari, because you might end up dead once I’m finished," Jirarudan said, smirking.

"We’ll see about that," Yukinari replied.

Soldiers and Hunters were fighting amongst them, but the two leaders fought in their space and tried to slice one another.

==============================================

Shurii was also fighting alongside Yukinari. Though he had a few cuts and wounds, he killed the many soldiers that stepped up to him. A soldier approached him, screaming and trying to cut off Shurii’s head. Swinging his sword around, Shurii stabbed the soldier on his left side and quickly appeared behind the soldier. Grabbing his opponent’s head, he cut a thick line across the man's throat. Blood spilled out as he pulled his sword away from his neck and dropped the man face-first on the floor. He smirked as he took one gaze at the soldier, seeing a pool of blood pour out. Shurii then became aware of Sakaki, another Hunter of the upper class men with skills of a bushido.

Sakaki stabbed a soldier in the stomach from his left, twirling his sword once and cutting the man’s head off. He saw another one coming towards him as if the opponent were going to avenge his ally’s death. Sakaki slashed at his face and pushed the man down; the soldier quickly covered his face in agony of his pain. Sakaki jabbed his fist in the man’s face and the soldier lay on his back. The Hunter then threw his sword down at the man’s chest.

Sakaki quickly took notice of Shurii. "These Soldiers are pretty tough, but I can kick their ass if I’m quick enough," he said to him.

Shurii nodded. "I agree, but don’t slip off guard or you’re a dead man, Sakaki."

Sakaki scoffed, "Shit, I can sense these guys if they're right behind me!" He hesitated for a moment, then quickly turned around to stab another soldier in the stomach that had sneaked up behind him. The soldier slumped to his knees clutching his stomach. "See what I mean?" Sakaki said, smirking. Shurii just shook his head.

The two hunters stood back to back, awaiting another challenge. "So do you think Yukinari-sama can handle his fight on his own?" Sakaki questioned, glancing behind his shoulder at Shurii.

Shurii nodded. "Yes, he can. Why? Do you suppose we should go help him?" he questioned.

The man just shrugged, gazing at his Leader and his opponent. "It doesn’t seem like it, but yeah, I guess he could handle it." Sakaki then focused his attention at the battlefield, seeing three soldiers approaching. "Here comes some more soldiers, three on my side!" he shouted to Shurii.

His ally just stood with two hands gripping his sword’s handle. "One’s heading my way. Hopefully you can handle those that are coming?" Shurii questioned.

"Of course! Don’t worry about me! Worry about yourself!" Sakaki yelled, heading towards the three soldiers.

==============================================

Suzumi hit the floor. Coughing blood out, she growled at Aya. The blonde-haired woman smiled devilishly, stepping on the redhead girl’s back. She pointed the sword at the tip of her nose. "Well, well, well, looks like I’m going to win this round after all. Your powers aren’t a match for me, after all. I can knock you down like a bowling pin, Suzumi," Aya said, laughing. "I shall have my victory."

Suzumi grunted as she tried to reach for her sword. "You think the first round was easy," she said. Her eyes began to glow a light blue color again as she put her right hand in front of her. Aya’s sword slipped out of her hands and was quickly levitated in the air. Her body froze, and she couldn’t move except to blink and move her mouth. "The second round is about to begin!" Suzumi yelled. With a quick extension of her arm, she sent the woman flying backwards. Aya screamed and she hit the wall again, knocking it down. She lay flat on her back for a few long moments, not flinching or blinking. Suzumi twirled the two swords in her hands and stood, ready for the blonde-hair woman to attack with no weapon.

Aya rose to her feet and dashed at the girl, filled with anger and rage. She screamed as she flew straight towards the girl, trying to knock her down. Suzumi dodged the woman’s assault and slashed at her back, making a cut through her dress. She swung another hit at her, making an X mark on her back. With only two thin cuts, Aya stumbled forward then stood up straight. Whipping around quickly, she tried throwing a punch at Suzumi. The redhead wrapped her left arm around the woman’s right arm. Aya tried to throw another punch at the girl with her left, but Suzumi quickly wrapped her other arm around Aya’s.

For a quick second they stood glaring at one another. Aya brought her head forward, smashing her forehead against Suzumi’s, and kicked her in the stomach. Suzumi dropped the two swords in her hands and felt her forehead to make sure it wasn’t bleeding. A small line of blood poured down her face. Aya picked up the two swords and pointed them both at the girl; through gritted teeth she laughed and panted, trying to catch her breath. "Looks like I’m still... in the lead... you aren’t going to win this one, Suzumi!" she shouted, jabbing the sword at the girl’s head.

Suzumi rolled out of the way. She sprang to her feet with her eyes aglow. "Not while I can stand on my own two feet! I can still kick your ass!" Suzumi yelled. She leaped forward, bringing her fist back. The two swords slipped out of Aya’s hands when she saw Suzumi coming towards her. She tried to dive for one but didn’t have enough time to do so. Suzumi punched the woman right in the face, pushing her down. She sat on top of her and punched her left and right in the face. The girl grabbed the woman by the hair and dragged her towards the wall, knocking her head against the wall as many times as she could. Aya then took control and jabbed her elbow in the girl’s stomach, continually kicking her in the face.

Suzumi took a few steps back, trying to clear her vision. Maybe Aya was right; she wasn’t going to win this round. But not wanting to give up, Suzumi charged at Aya. The fight continued.

==============================================

Yukinari’s sword clashed once more with Jirarudan’s. After a few moments of chaos passed, the two leaders stood exhausted, glaring at one another. Both had cuts, bruises, and wounds from being stabbed in the stomach, the shoulder, arm, or the leg. Yukinari was victorious for still having Jirarudan down. A line of blood ran down the corner of his mouth and he sighed, having only bruises and wounds he wasn’t going to be knocked down so easily.

"You know, I figured you were going to be a tough challenge... since you are the Leader of the Japanese Vampires, you must’ve gone through a lot of fights, eh?" Jirarudan said.

"Indeed I have. It seems I have a chance at beating you, but it depends on what’ll happen," Yukinari replied.

Jirarudan said nothing at that. He only smiled and quickly moved forward to begin the fight again.

Swords clashed, and the movements of the two were intense. Yukinari focused his attention on Jirarudan. Not for a moment did he slip off guard, but he attacked the Chinese Vampire at every moment he could. It was almost as if he could predict his moves. Then unexpectedly, Jirarudan had his chance to attack. As he moved closer, his symbol on his forehead glowed a light green color, almost bright enough to blind Yukinari’s still impaired sight. Jirarudan sliced his sword at Yukinari, cutting the man at his upper right side. Stumbling backward, Yukinari yelped. Trying to cover up his wound, he dropped his sword and covered the wound with both hands. At that moment, Jirarudan thought he was going to win.

Pointing his sword at the Japanese Vampire, he chuckled. "Surprisingly, it didn’t take long to throw you down. And here I thought that you were going to kill me... well, the tables have turned, Yukinari."

Yukinari crawled backwards, trying to escape from Jirarudan and reaching for his sword. He couldn’t get to it because he was about to die anyway.

"It was nice getting to know you for a short while, Yukinari. But as I said, I must do what I came here for... and that’s to kill you!" Jirarudan shouted, raising his sword in the air and ready to strike at any moment.

Yukinari quickly felt for his sword but could not seem to find it. Watching the sword slowly go down towards him, Yukinari closed his left eye, not wanting to see the expression on Jirarudan’s face. The only thought on his mind then was death welcoming him with open arms. Jirarudan swung his sword down at Yukinari, trying to aim for his neck. In the corner of his eye, he noticed something coming towards him fast. Before the sword even touched Yukinari, Jirarudan turned his head to see what was coming. He only saw a woman flying towards him at top speed, screaming and knocking him down.

Yukinari didn’t feel the swipe of the sword a few seconds later. He opened his good eye to see Jirarudan on the floor. "What the hell?" were the first words that escaped his mouth. He looked straight ahead and saw Hanako there, in the flesh.

Her white wings fluttering and her chest heaving, she tightened her grip around her golden staff. Sighing, she gazed at Yukinari, "Are you all right?" she questioned.

Yukinari was shocked, flabbergasted more likely, at the idea that she saved him from being killed. He couldn’t even say anything, but nodded his head with his mouth gaping open.

Jirarudan gained consciousness, sitting up and gazing around; he wondered what had hit him. The first thing he had noticed was the angel. "An angel? So the stories are true..." he mumbled, rising and taking a few steps closer to Hanako. "You are what they call... Angels of Gaia, am I correct?" Jirarudan asked.

The auburn-haired woman glared at him and nodded. "Correct you are, sir. Might I ask just what the hell you think you’re doing trying to kill Yukinari-sama before I do?" she snapped.

"Oh, so I’m not the only person who wants Yukinari dead, hmm?"

"No, I’m sure there are a lot more people in line who want this bastard dead, and the first person in line is me!"

Yukinari sighed. And here I thought she came to save my ass...

Jirarudan chuckled, setting his sword aside as a sign to the angel that he wasn’t going to assault her. "Well, first come, first serve as they always say," he said, smiling at her. "I would allow you to finish him off for me, but that won’t be necessary."

"And why not?"

"Because I’m the one who fought him first."

Hanako took one glance at Yukinari and then at Jirarudan. "Well, before we do anything, introduce yourself, smart-ass!" she demanded.

"With pleasure, but no need to get hasty," he responded, bowing. "I am Jirarudan, Leader of a new Chinese Vampire race. As you can see, the soldiers behind us are my army."

Hanako glanced at Jirarudan’s so-called army; to her it wasn’t much of an army. "Your army is dropping like flies, with the Hunters kicking their ass..." she told him.

He just smirked at her. "There are replacements. For now, mind if I ask who you are?"

"I’m General Hanako, leader of Gaia’s army. Now cut the crap and let’s get this over with so I can kill you and Yukinari."

Jirarudan seemed pleased with Hanako’s attitude. "Very aggressive, but are you asking for a death wish with those words, Hanako?"

"No, I’m just trying to keep the human race safe from assholes like you and Yukinari, Jirarudan."

Jirarudan was filled with joy, "My, they must train you Angels well to become skilled soldiers much like the American Military. Impressive."

Hanako sighed, "Just shut up and fight!" she yelled. She formed her staff into a sword, then dashed towards him and swung her sword at him. Her skills were quick, but Jirarudan could tell that she was too overwhelmed from fighting.

Yukinari sat on the floor, watching the two people fight. His wound was hurting badly. He had wanted to get up and fight, but that would be futile. Trying to sit up straight, he could see his sword not too far away from him. He reached for it and grabbed it, just in case he needed to get up and fight.

Hanako clashed her sword against his, she glared at Jirarudan but he only smiled at her. She hated that smile, the smile that reminded her of Yukinari. Hanako moved swiftly towards him, slashing her sword at him.

Behind the General and Chinese Vampire’s duel, the Angels fought against the Soldiers with the Hunters. However, some of the winged-warriors fought against the Hunters.

Leiko could see from her distance that the General was fighting against the Chinese Vampire Lord. She had wanted to go up there to help, but she knew the General could handle it. Bringing her hand behind her, she pulled out an arrow. Placing it on her bow, she slowly brought the thin string back and begun aiming it at the Soldiers; with quick haste she shot it and begun to pull out more arrows shooting and whizzing at Soldiers. Leiko stepped back a little and bumped into something; turning around quickly, she pulled her dagger out from her side and pointed it at her opponent’s neck. For a quick second, she gazed at the stranger, then realizing it was just another Hunter, she loosened her grip around the hilt of the dagger.

Sakaki seemed a little shocked, "What? So you’re not going to kill me?" he said to her.

Leiko just shook her head, not even turning around to gaze at the man. "I thought I’d spare you the pain... since you’re one of them," she said, running and disappearing into the large crowd of Soldiers and Hunters.

Sakaki just sighed, not wanting to go chase the angel down to talk to her. Instead he continued fighting.

Jirarudan shoved Hanako down, trying to slice her face, but she dodged quickly. Rolling over and jumping to her feet, Hanako jabbed her elbow into his chest, then twirled the sword once and stabbed his right arm. She stood a few feet away from him now, her right hand holding the hilt of her sword. With her left hand outstretched, Hanako stood waiting for his next move.

Jirarudan covered his wound on his arm, thinking that he didn’t deserve any more wounds: he already had an injured left shoulder with a few cuts and bruises here and there and now a stab in the arm. He took a few steps closer to Hanako; the symbol on his forehead began to glow a vivid bright color. Hanako stopped for a moment, noticing the symbol glow a light green color. She saw him approaching her like a lion closing in on its prey.

"Had enough yet?" Hanako snapped, glaring at the Chinese Vampire. Jirarudan just chuckled, turning around to face his army. He commanded them to stop, and all the Soldiers looked upon their leader, waiting for his command. He spoke Chinese to them, demanding them to take everyone as prisoner to the floating fortress. The Soldiers did as they were told, taking the Hunters and Angels by chaining their wrists and hauling them towards the fortress.

Aya hit the wall as blood marked the wall from her hands and arms. She sunk down to a sitting position with her head bowed, her long blonde hair falling over her shoulders and face as her chest heaved heavily. Suzumi stood before the woman, filled with exhaustion and anger, holding the two swords in her hands. She kicked Aya in the stomach. "Get up," she barked. "This isn’t over yet... I’ll fight you until you’re dead."

Aya had made no sound or motion; she just sat there in silence while Suzumi waited for her. The redheaded girl’s eyes begun to glow a light blue color again, levitating the woman’s body up and pulling her towards Suzumi.

"To think that you won this round... but it isn’t over yet..." Aya murmured, her eyes slowly opening.

"I might as well kill you than to let you win!" Suzumi snapped.

Aya smiled. "You should’ve killed me when you had the chance... now it’s too late."

Suzumi was puzzled at those words; she heard distant shouts and screams coming from the main room. "Oto-san..." she muttered.

"You can’t save him now. You have to finish me off, and if you don’t, he’ll be imprisoned and killed," Aya said, half smiling.

Suzumi didn’t care whether or not she could kill Aya, but she had to save her father and everyone before it was too late. She glanced at the many walls that separated her from her people before gazing at Aya, who still stood in mid-air, smiling at her like she had her cornered. There was nothing Suzumi could do.

Making a quick decision Suzumi dropped the woman and ran towards the main room. She stopped, then glared at Aya. "I swear it... when I find you again you’ll be dead..."

Aya laughed. "That might not be possible, because you might be the one who will end up dead, Suzumi."

"We’ll see about that..." Suzumi said. She turned around again and left.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Hanako yelled.

Jirarudan smirked, approaching her, his symbol glowing again. "You can see what they’re doing, my dear: taking your army and Yukinari’s prisoner. I think I might find some use for your army and the Japanese Vampires. Maybe I might create a new race to gain more power," he said.

Hanako glared at him. "You’re crazy..." she whispered.

Jirarudan grabbed her by the shoulders, pulling her towards him. "I’m not crazy, I’m just your typical asshole, Hanako." His symbol glowed more bright now; Hanako shut her eyes tightly but could not escape it. Focusing her eyes on that glow she could feel everything around her began to grow distant and dark. Suddenly she felt weak and couldn’t stand on her own feet.

Yukinari struggled to get to his feet as fast as he could. Running towards Jirarudan, he tried swinging his sword at him, but Jirarudan had some strange barrier around him. Yukinari stumbled to the ground and he gazed up, cursing under his breath. Jirarudan’s symbol stopped glowing. Hanako’s eyes were wide open but they seemed empty and lifeless. She fell forward towards the Chinese Vampire. Her body was motionless, and it was like she wasn’t even alive or so it seemed. Jirarudan commanded a Soldier to take her and lock her up, then turning his attention towards Yukinari he smirked.

"W-what did you do to her?" Was the only thing Yukinari could say, watching the Soldier carry Hanako away to the fortress. "Not to worry, it’s just a way to put her to ‘sleep’ is what I’d call it. You’ll find out when she awakes." Jirarudan replied.

Yukinari was confused. He saw Jirarudan approaching him with his symbol glowing again, and everything went to total darkness.

Suzumi came in time but was a few moments late, seeing that the Hunters and Angels were being carried off to the fortress. She gazed up at the fortress, then ahead where she noticed that Soldiers surrounded her, their arrows and swords pointed at her.

"We won’t assault you if you come with us quietly, Suzumi," said one of the Soldiers.

Suzumi smirked, dropping the swords. "Indeed," she muttered.

Me: ............
Jiri: ...I'd never call myself a typical asshole, even in mocking...
Me: ...who cares? You're SWORDFIGHTING! *salivate*
Jiri: *clears his throat* Anyway, some of the grammer is again a bit stilted, but overall, quite a good chapter. *elbows me*
Me: Oh! Oh yeah, so I take it you're not using my idea (a/n, she knows what I mean) about Sakaki and Shurii's battle scene...That's ok, I'm interested to see how you'll work that out.
