An off-screen evolution always gives us a nice suprise but don't you somtimes wish it was on screen.

Usually, its the rival's pokemon that are revealed in their next stage, if they showed every evolution for evey rival, we may get a bit tired of them. However, I'm not a fan of a main character's pokemon evolving off screen.

I would have liked to have seen-

All 4 of May's off screen evelutions.

Onyx evolving into Steelix with Forrest.

That Magicarp that Misty preformed with, I always wonder, did it evolve and start rampaging after Misty's sisters left? Or did they know about it and just quietly slip away, leaving Misty to handle it when she got back.

Any evolutions you wish you could have seen?

In regards to the topic I wanted to see Nozomi's Kirlia evolve into Ereido on screen because its an awesome Pokémon that in my opinion is so different than its pre-evo that the surprise from the characters would have been amusing to watch.

Paul's Electivire and Magmortar. It would have been a nice extra bit on his character to see the lengths he would go to to acquire the needed items for doing those evolutions and the point at which he decided that they needed the extra power. Especially for Elekid, which was seemed to take up the role of his starter far more than Turtwig did.

Most of the ones in BW I don't mind having happened off screen, perhaps with the exception of Bianca's Tepig in a flashback, showing a bit of what she did with it to evolve it would have helped with that argument with her father.

Bulbasaur to Venusaur
Electabuzz to Electivire
Onix to Steelix
Eevee to Glaceon

Definitely Paul's Electabuzz to Electivire. We(and Chimchar) got to see it evolve from Elekid to Electabuzz, and Electabuzz got to see Monferno right after it evolved and also when it became Infernape. So an onscreen evo from Electabuzz to Electivire (with Ash's Infernape present to see its reaction) would've been interesting imo.

Besides that I would've liked to see at least one of May's Bulbasaur's evolutions. It really was unexpected when it appeared as a fully evolved Venusaur.

Trip's Snivy to Servine and now to Serperior. That would've been interesting to watch.

Unless it's still a Servine and it'll evolve onscreen soon. It did appear as a Serperior in the opening.

Definitely May's Bulbasaur and Squirtle during her Johto Contest journey. After seeing Ash's own Bulbasaur and Squirtle stay in their base forms, it would have been nice for the writers to finally showcase the evolutions of two of the franchise's original starters. I've always been disappointed that her Bulbasaur went all the way to the Venusaur stage if only because I liked the relationship between Ash and May's Bulbasaur (not to mention that I liked the cute heart pattern on its head), but even still I probably would have accepted the notion a bit more if we had seen it happen first hand. Same goes for Wartortle, but to a lesser degree.

I really think that May's adventures in Johto should have been given a spin-off series in general though. There was so much potential there, what with Drew, Harley and Solidad being over there with her, only for the writers to completely gloss over the opportunity during DP. The evolutions of her Pokemon mentioned above made me feel a lot more bitter once it became apparent that we weren't going to be treated to any such spin-off.

I can't say I would have cared to see any of them. The fact that the writers didn't think they were important enough to show on-screen evolving says a lot in itself.

People have likely forgotten this, but all we saw of May's Venusaur was a 2-second still screen in the Wallace cup defeating a Marill. We weren't supposed to care about that particular evolution, it was just the writers showing that May had become much stronger since she was last seen.

I think this is why they didn't do the same thing with Dawn, pointless off-screen evo's were pointless. Upon May's return only Glaceon really mattered because it was a new Eeveelution at the time.

Probably May Squirtle and Bulbasaur. I was disappointed we never get to see proper showcasing of mid stage evolutions from original starters such as Wartortle and Ivysaur and with may we would have been given chance to see this pokemon more in action, when this was already obvious no with Ash pokemon. Not to mention Venusaur never got much showcasing in this show, at least compared to several other candidates.

Brock Steelix comes in consideration too. It would be great to see Onix evolution on screen, giving poor rock snake some development.

Misty Gyarados being showcased as Magikarp and what caused him going wild would have been welcomed to see too. Instead we got in hosos Gyarados rampaging and terrorizing all other pokemon without proper explanation ever being given to us. Though i also wander if she caught Starmie or had originally two Staryu.

Seeing some of Gary evolutions like Blastoise due to Squirtle being his original starter,or Paul Magmar and Electivire would have been highly appreciated too.

Agreed.
I would be interested seeing May adventures in Johto too and how her coordinator career was going on there. It was pity we never got info on how things went for her in Johto Grand Festival not knowing in what region after that she chose to go.Not to mention May never developed truly her own style as coordinator having room left to grow. I was quite disappointed we never got chance to see her Bulbasaur ad Squirtle evolving on screen, with writers delivering us only final products.

Though why stop only on May, im sure many would like to see spin offs of other characters too like Misty. She could definitely use more development not developing fully her style as trainer or coming close to her dream.Perhaps we could see her going on journey entering another Whirl Cup to advance goal of water master or intensively train(Psyduck comes to mind) for it . Or go on quest trying to become E4 training under Prima care on Seafom islands for example having material to make great story out of it.

I'm only interested in Gary's and May's Pokemon's off-screen evolutions.
