With Mario Kart 7's release now upon most of the world. I think that it would be great to have an official Bulbagarden Community. It could serve as a great unifying service for us all and would generally be pretty fun.

Thoughts?

Yeah. i guess a social group could have all that.

While it might be suitable for social groups, I think it might end up getting buried.

Not everyone has the game, thus it isn't for every member. Its a niche service.

Yeah, that is something to consider.

How should this be implemented? Social Groups seems to be the best bet for niche things, but... I wonder whether it'll be niche after all? It's Mario Kart. Also, being on Social Group runs the risk of it being buried when the group itself is left alone and other groups become more active.

If something with such a "large fanbase" becomes buried, then it obviously doesn't have much of a fanbase here. There's a lot of people here who like things that are generally considered niche on the forums, but you don't see special sections for them. I like to ship pairings outside of Pokemon, but the shippers section is for Pokemon only. So hey, what can you do? You make a social group and hope people who share your similar interest will join and participate. Or you can always join an alternative community that specializes in your particular interest.

If something is really that desirable, then it won't die.

The problem is that no activity in Social Groups does not equate to no activity in the actual online community.

Like others have said, this is a social group type of thing. This site's area of focus is Pokemon, not other franchises.

As long as you keep it alive with discussion there's no need to worried about it being buried.
