The last 40 minutes were fantastic.

The first 40 minutes was incredibly boring and spent way too much time building up Harvey Dent and Rachel Redshirt, two characters you can't really care about because you know they're doomed going in.

I thought the bank robbery scene was really good (how all of the henchmen kill each other). But the relationship stuff was pretty boring, yeah.

BEST MAGIC TRICK EVER!

I know that was my favorite part of the whole movie XD

The first half of the movie was basically a love letter to Harvey Dent. Everyone, literally, could not stop saying "OMG! HARVEY DENT IS THE BEST THING EVER AND SO BRAVE AN' SEXY AND PLEASE HAVE MY BABIES HARVEY!" I almost got a little sick. He couldn't get his face blown off fast enough for me.

I thought Joker was very intelligently written. Not only could you understand everything he was saying, but it was all both insane and brilliant. He's more of a mad genius then an insane clown. Then there's scenes like the actual "Why So Serious" scene, where he actually is insane. Also...
One of the best parts of the movie has to be when the convict throws the detonator out the window. The whole theater was laughing when Joker blew up the hospital, and the detonator didn't work right, which was another great moment.

Finally...
Hehehehe, Rachel Redshirt.

Since no one wants to start one...I guess I will, and move the posts that were solely related to the movie over here. Here, feel free to discuss the movie in its entirety, without feeling the need to use the spoiler tag (and, so I don't get spoiled any more than I want to be).

Thanks, GrnMarvel, sorry to mess up your other thread DX

LMAO his outfit was hilarious XD. I actually expected Two-Face to kill him, though.

I know a lot of people were calling sexism on having Rachel get offed, but really it had nothing to do with her being a woman. It had to do with her being Dent's love interest. Although it occurs to me that you can't kill a man's love interest without being accused of *something*--if you kill his girlfriend, you're screamed at for "fridging", and if you kill his boyfriend, you must be a homophobe. Can't they just die like anyone else?

Anyway, my thoughts on Joker. It basically boils down to that although Ledger was great, BTAS Joker was a hell of a lot scarier.

Batman AND Dent's love interest. She was doubly doomed.

Funnier, too.

Fantastic movie. Even if the opening plot was a bit thick, the Dark Knight captured the magic of the first film.

However much I wanted to enjoy the movie, just thinking of Heath Ledger's passing added a level of tension that made me feel almost guilty for watching. It was hard to shake the fact that Heath Ledger's Joker double-talk connection made the lines more powerful than what they were, yet at the same time they felt so shameful to listen to. "You either die the hero or live long enough to become the villain." That one stands out the most since it's in the previews. Ok, I can't exactly remember one specifically, but all his other lines sound so much sadder empowering the Joker's sadistic nature at the cost of a great actor.

Anyone get this feeling too?

Yes, it was Harvey forshadowing his becoming Two-Face.

Slightly altered c/p from LJ.

Definitely a good movie. Heath Ledger was a freakishly awesome Joker. And the whole movie was just great. Kinda obvious Gordon wouldn't really be dead since he's such a crucial character. I was somewhat annoyed that they show his kids but Barbara isn't there. She obviously wouldn't be Batgirl but surely she should at least get a mention as his daughter, right? Unless the girl was her in which case I hate that she's barely shown and it focuses on his son. I also enjoyed some of the gadgets and such Batman used. Oh and the boat scene was nice. I love that the criminal tossed the detonator out the window. There's so much more that I loved about this movie that I can't even remember it all right now.

I had planned on going to the movie around 12 but my brother convinced me to wait so I could go with him and his friend instead around 2. The two closest movie theatres to my house are 30 and 45 minutes away and we planned to go to the closer one but none of us knew exactly how to get there so we went with the slightly farther one. So we get to the theatre and get our tickets. I head to the bathroom as my brother and his friend go get seats. I head to the movie and search for them so I know where the seats are. My brother waves to me from the higher seats so I head up to sit with them and as I walk someone else waves at me. I look and it's an old co-worker of mine. I end up sitting with him and his friend instead. It was great because it was perfect seats (I like sitting around the very middle; not too high or low and not too far to either side). Kinda crazy we were at the same movie at the same time considering I hadn't planned on that time or location.

I thought the cell phone thing was cool. Though it may hinder one of my Aura characters. The one in question is Sonya Cross or Pulse. Her power is controlling vibrations. One thing she uses her ability for is a sonar or echolocation type thing to be able to help her 'see' since she's blind. I planned on her 'seeing' things appearing somewhat like how the flashes of the cellphone pics were. And though I thought of this before the movie came out, people may think I'm copying. Oh well, I'm keeping it as is anyways. After all, another ability is she's a speedster. And though her sonar/echolocation ability allows her to 'see' despite her blindness, it's not quick enough for her to be able to use her speed to her full potential making for a nice weakness.

I loved the movie, especially the Joker parts and the intesnsity. I thought it was also intresting that there wasn't any blood in the movie. I thought that was kind of funny as it is a more reallistic mature batman, but still has kids in mind.

I didn't feel guilty for Ledger passing to watch the movie at all, and I hope that doesn't pay a role in any possible Oscar nomination. It was an award winning role that deserves awards on its own merits, and it really makes it look like he was a fan of Batman with the level of dedication that he had.

I think the reason they don't really show her (I thought she was the other daughter in the movie) is because they probably want to leave it open to have Batgirl in a movie. Probably when the Begins series starts to run dry.

I have a feeling they're going somewhere with that. Meaning I think the son is going to be toast and it's going to spurn on both Gordon and his daughter.

I notice Mrs Gordon was named Barbara though.

Yes, the children of Jim and Barbara Gordon are named Jim and Barbara. These are not a very imaginative set of parents.

No kidding. When I first heard Mrs. Gordon's first name, I thought "oh that's his daughter those must be his grandkids" -- whoops.

MOST AMAZING MOVE EVER. Nothing more to it than that.

I wonder how they're going to dig themselves out of that ending for the sequel (I've never read the comics, though, so I wouldn't know).

I wonder how they're going to find someone to play the Joker in the next one. Let's face it, anyone following that performance has their work cut out for them, and I frankly doubt they'll find anyone with the chemistry Heath Ledger had for the character.
